I figured this would be a good thread to start. I picked the word favorite for a reason. I think choosing which dance routine you think is the best is too subjective. So I figured it be better to talk about our personal favorites whether it be couple, solo, or group number. For me, I think the zombie group number from season 2 is my favorite by far. I still can't get that song out of my head either. As for couple, Benji and Heidi's swing dance from last year (where Heidi slid down Benji's back wrapped around him) is my favorite. It was just so much fun. A perfect example of what this show is about. Anyway, talk away guys and gals.

I'm sure it will be mentioned many times, but perhaps I shall be the first: Travis and Heidi's bench routine. Just lovely, touching, and well-danced.

Also fondly remember "Sexyback" and Benji & Donyelle's "Too Much Booty." Just to be unpredictable, I'll also say Jessica and Jaymmyzz's contemporary, but I can't remember the song.

I think I will always be waiting for a group number that can top "Hide and Seek" for me.

As far as couple numbers, even though S2 as a whole was stonger, nothing has ever topped the S1 finale where Melody and Ashle danced contemporary to "Message in a Bottle". Seriously if ya'll didn't see S1 at least go find that dance!

Oo!!! Can I be the first to say AFRO POP?

Group number: another vote for Ramalama Bang Bang (the zombie routine)

Travis and Heidi's bench routine, hands down, for me (and my daughter).

Also loved Sexy Back.

For pairs, it's going to take an awful long time for something to impress me as much as the Cuban Rumba did last season.

For group numbers, hands down, it's "Hide and Seek." Utterly brilliant.

For DODs, I defy you to find anything as mind-bendingly awesome as Jonnis' freaked-out spazfest. No way that guy could have lasted in a partner-centric competition, but for solos, he was, as my buddy James would say, "Wicked awesome."

I don't know if this is considered a routine or not but................... I love to watch Snow in the opening and commercial intros, her legs look like magic. Facinates me everytime I see it. Long live Snow's legs!

Hee. I still have the entire season on mine. My daughter makes all her friends watch them whenever they come over (especially the bench dance). I need to figure out how to download them so I can make room for this year!

Season 1 -- I loved Blake and Ashle's samba to Jazz Machine. That stayed on the TiVo for about a year. And I have a fondness for Nick and Jamile's hip hop routine to Young'n.

Season 2 -- Ramalama Bang Bang was so different and cool than any other group dance last year. Loved it.

Rama Lama is my favorite too. I think I still have it on tape somewhere at least I hope I do. I also really enjoyed Benji and Heidi's bench number even though I tend to despise lyrical dance. Especially Mia's.
Oh and count me in on the love for Snow's intro steps.

Season 2 faves - Benjelle and 2 Much Booty and Cuchi Cuchi
Donyelle gets her own shout out for her audition piece and her solo to "I'm Not Going" from Dreamgirls
Jessica and Jaymz - Let Go (the lyrical routine - I told Jessica that when I got her autograph in Buffalo and she told me it was her fav too)
Allison and Ivan - Why
Allison and Ryan - Ethna
Natalie - my fav was her solo on the tour, same thing for Ivan
Martha - the krump routine (on tour with Ivan rather than Travis)
Heidi and Travis - the afro pop to W'Happy Mama
Dmitry and Natalie on the tour - I enjoyed both of their routines

Group routines - Hide and Seek and Rama Lama are my faves as well as Sexy Back as performed on the tour

One routine that sticks out for me in a good way, but also in a minor wierd way is Benji & Heidi's Samba to La Comay. On the good side it was a fantastic routine but there was a small ick factor with some of the sexyness being done by cousins.

Group routine - Ramalama and Footloose (I'm a sucker for jive, what can I say?)

Duo routine - Cuchi Cuchi (Benji and Donyelle) and Why (Ivan and Allison)

As for the group dances, I'm a sucker for Poison and Sexyback.

One of my favorite Benji routines was his and Nata's Jazz. I dunno why I like it so much but I do. I also loved Pop Jazz because I got a glimpse of emoeyeliner Benji.

I love Donyelle and I think her best performance was Pop Jazz and I think my favorite of hers is Cuchi Cuchi or the Broadway.

I was never the hugest fan of Allison or Ryan even though they are beyond talented but I still really really like their modern "Ethna" during the show. I always thought it was majorly cool and I wish I could do those things with my body.

Was it because Benji did the HMS move? (I just re-watched that ep on MuchMusic last night).

Heh, that move was good but I actually do think one of the main reasons I like it is because it feels so FRESH and FREE and Happy. I thought the wardrobe was good too.

I'm so with you! That was my favorite ever, too.

I also loved Natalie & Benji's jazz, Heidi & Ryan's Cuban Rumba (sp?) and Heidi & Benji's mambo. For group dances, I loved Poison and Footloose.

My mom still watches Sexy Back over and over and over. I liked it better on the tour, though, with more dancers.

ETA: Punctuation!

Ha, Shenanigan, you caught me! That is how excited I was by this thread, all niceties flew out of my head when it appeared.

I meant to say, "May I be the first to say Afro Pop, please?" !!! <g>

Danced by Travis and Heidi, choreographed by Wade Robson, music: W'Happy Mama by Zap Mama".

I truly do love this thread. I'm content simply reading lists of other peoples' favorites. How weird is that?

alvin etler and legaleagle88, If I had to pick a favorite from S1, "Message in a Bottle" would be it.

I too recall the Benji/Heidi samba with pleasure; just stunning. And for me, not a shadow of a problem that they're cousins. It's all acting.

The bench routine is lovely too. And Ivan/Alison's contemporary duet that Mia (against all her principles) liked so much.

Phew! :)

re: Hide and Seek

I'll give you folks a chance to expound. Why Hide and SeeK? I didn't get it. Maybe it was all the screaming fangirls. Maybe it was the makeup. Maybe I am too slow a reader.

If I'm going to go back and watch it, how should I approach it? What made you love it so much and think it was so brilliant?

Ok fave routines:
Travis and Heidi's bench routine

Hide and Seek (though I wish the guys hadn't stumbled a bit when catching Travis' leap. and the fans were TOTALLY annoying.) I liked it because it was an interesting song to set dance moves to, the movement was very natural and didn't feel rigidly choreographed (though it probably was) and I liked the facial expressions and movement at the end, where it felt like they were at the edge of a high city rooftop and unsure of what they were seeing.

Why - Allison and Ivan, not sure why but I just felt it.

ALSO... fave moments!

Blake S1 taking off his shirt while pirouetting - that must be tough, but it was also hot!

The Ivan/Travis shoulder-to-shoulder shrug in the Chicago Cell Block Tango routine -
"He'd go out every night looking for himself
and on the way he found Ruth, Gladys, Rosemary ... and Irving."
That's practically canon, you guys. And it make me like Ivan more, being willing to do it. /shallow

James falling off the stage - I laughed till I cried!

Travis' slow pirouette in a layback-ish position in one of the ballroom dances (a waltz, I think?)

Gotta throw some love to Ramalama that was a great group dance. I also was a big fan of Heidi and Travi's bench dance and of course "Why" with Allison and Ivan. My fav DoD has to be Blake's in S1. For some reason everytime I watch him do that little spin where he spins his shirt off............my panties wanna fly off!

Edited: Cuz as I was writin about Blake and his lil shirt spin someone else <looks at Karashi> was in my head!

Great minds think alike! Um, so do shallow ones, I guess! But it's one of the few moments I really remember from S1, even though I really enjoyed that season as a whole. (S2 rocked even harder, though.)
