Dunno how many Zendaya had on Instagram before the show but she has about 3 mil followers now vs. Cody's 2 mil. It feels like that's the site the cool kids are on these days.
Snooki has over 4 mil and she didn't come close to a win.
I think it depends on the type of celeb you are to be honest. Snooki and the Jersey Shore crew were always the sort of reality show people that inspired a love/hate thing. I think at one time people followed a lot of them because you never knew what they were going to say or do. You either loved them or loved to mock them. Snooki has grown up some since then of course.
With the tween/teen idol set, I think they tend to spur more blind loyalty. Their fans also know how to get out a hardcore vote. It also won't matter what Cody does or doesn't do on DWTS as long as he looks cute doing it. Even if I don't think the kid is even remotely attractive. Cody isn't exactly Disney, but he's still associated with that set and part of that whole world.
Anyway, I'm more on board with this season after seeing the cast in person versus just on paper. Always awaiting to see if there are any surprises. After all, I would have never guessed last season that I would be rooting for Jack Osbourne in the finals, so you never know with this dumb show.
Also THR was reporting the switch is only for a week. I don't like the idea of a permanent partner switch, but I am on board with making them all switch for a week.
ETA: Sharna explained the switch and if she's right it's a bit scary. It's a one week switch, but then the celeb has the option of staying with the new partner or going back to their old one. Which I'm not sure how that works. The highest scoring celeb chooses first and sets off a chain reaction I guess? I don't know if that's legit and I'd like to think most celebs wouldn't do that to their pros, but still.
