That's what I was thinking. It pretty much sounds like the most fitting thing to do. I always hoped that's what would have happened on The West Wing, but that couldn't have happened.David Mills confirms in the comments section of the blog that Clark Johnson is scheduled to direct the finale.
Man, I've missed Clark acting on TV though. His commetary on "The Sentinel" is hysterical.

That almost makes me want to rent it. Almost. I'm glad he's coming back to acting- his TV direction has been good, but the features he was working on were pure factory line.

Season 5, Episode 3: Rules of Arbitration
Season 5, Episode 4: Transition with director listed as Daniel Attias
Last season, IMDB did a pretty good job of having the correct episode title names, so there is a good possibilty they are legit.

Simon stated at the Night at the Wire event on June 9, 2007 that Detective Sydnor is the only character who remains morally clean at the end of the show, but not perfectly since "after all, this is The Wire". Simon also made references towards a possible run by Mayor Carcetti for governor, continuing to mirror current Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley.

Carcetti's been an ass, a backstabber, and a liar, but hasn't done much of anything illegal I think.
ETA: Oh wait, Carcetti cheats on his wife, don't he.
ETA2: true, Gob, but in the world of the Wire, those are like traffic tickets. And frankly, Bird had it comin'. Compare and contrast with Bunk's, Kima's, Jimmy's, Carver's, Herc's, Burrell's, or Daniel's sins.
Oh, and I guess Cutty and Namond are still pretty clean. Rhonda's also - picking off a husband on the tail end of a dead marriage hardly counts for much in Baltimore. I'd almost float Rawls, too, but he's too big a dick. I guess it's all relative on this show...

Unless she somehow steals an important document or something ala Sandy Berger, then she'd have a problem.Rhonda's also - picking off a husband on the tail end of a dead marriage hardly counts for much in Baltimore

The title Dickensian Aspects so makes me want to read one of those 7 Dickens novels I have on my bookshelf, but not just yet.
