Most of the other actors on the show have their own threads, so now B.J. gets one too because, well, he's my favorite :) To start us off on the right foot... B.J. on Leno.

B.J. is going to be on Conan on April 5th, which I'm pretty sure is Wednesday night (or Thursday morning really). Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is the musical guest! Woo!

That prank at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts is hilarious. Comic genius. I am so glad BJ is writing for this show.

That was one of my favorite talk show moments ever, and possibly the best prank I've ever heard of. I wish I'd thought of that one myself.

And I loved the Helen Mirren bit. Not only did he hold his own with her, but she went along with the joke.

The Helen Mirren bit is classic! "This is called acting, Helen." I also really like his little Weekend at Bernie's 2 pick-up line... its just too adorable.

B.J. Novak is not short. He's compact and efficient. Not to mention adorable.

More video! B.J. doing a stand-up bit on terrorists. (YouTube)

Agreed! 5'9 is not short (or, wait, is it 5'8 and 3/4? hehe). Perfect size if you ask me ;) Love that terrorists bit that he does, I wish more of his stand-up was available on YouTube or... you know, anywhere.

Alright, continuing on with the B.J. parade (all old stuff, but maybe not everyone has seen it all?), this is an adorable story from Jenna's TVGuide blog about researching her scenes in the Dundies with B.J. :

In real life I rarely drink. In fact, the last time I had gotten drunk was back in college, and even then I wasn't a big drinker. I just never really thought it was much fun. When I got the script for this episode, I was very nervous. I couldn't remember what it was like to be drunk and I didn't want to do a caricature of a drunk person. B.J. Novak [Ryan, and a writer on the show] suggested I go out and get drunk one night for research. I laughed him off at first, but then decided it was a pretty good idea. I took B.J. with me and made sure I didn't have to drive.

It only took four drinks. After each drink, B.J. would check in with me, asking, "How do you feel now? What's different?" He made me describe, in detail, the various levels of drunkenness. It was interesting because after the first two drinks I said, "I feel really buzzed and dizzy." I was laughing a lot. By drink No. 4, I said, "I don't really feel drunk at all. I feel normal now." B.J. said, "Really? Because you are talking really loud and close and you just almost fell over." I stopped at drink four. I thought it was really interesting and scary how, after so many drinks, I doubted that I was drunk. No wonder people do so many stupid things when they drink!

Does anyone know how to access B.J.'s old TVGuide blog? It keeps giving me errors.

DnknFlcka, I was able to find one of B.J. old blogs here, but I'm getting errors for the other ones as well.

Oh wait, here's more: here and here.

Thanks pennylane! Another B.J. staple... Kath over at GMMR [givememyremote.com] did an interview with him and asked him 5 questions:

GMMR: If you could have dinner with 5 Famous People, who would they be?

BJ: I’d choose four total C-list celebrities, and one superstar, like Tom Hanks. Tom Hanks would be polite and smile the whole time, but inside he’d be like, ‘huh… am I not that famous anymore?’

B.J. is in the new Don Cheadle/Adam Sandler movie, 'Reign Over Me'. His character shows up later in the movie. Another character makes a comment about him being young ("He goes to Little League practice!" or something like that) and I thought, "And he started a fire trying to make a cheesy pita! And everybody thinks he's a tease!"

I went to that! The poor guy had such a bad day, and had a hard time getting across the country. He was filming earlier, so it had to be just such a long day for him. He did his stand up bit, where he had some really good jokes (Wikipedia Brown!) and then he helped announce winners of a raffle, where the "That's what she said" jokes kept coming! It was really nice that he still came and did the show. And then he put up with a line of people -- he talked with everyone and took pictures and signed autographs -- was so nice about it too.

I told him that my friend and I loved one of the jokes that went over pretty bad, and he turned to me and exclaimed "I love that joke! I'm glad you liked it!" And his eyes are so blue! I got my picture taken with him too. Now I'm just bragging. Done now...

In his interviews and from fan encounters, it sounds like he's very nice.

Then again, I think that's true about all of them.

That is awesome Crunchie! (psst, you should totally link the pic... just sayin') I really hope that he comes back to the east coast for more stand-up during the break from the Office. I'd definitely love to go see a show!

For those of you lucky folks in the LA area, B.J.'s MySpace page lists his next stand-up gig as April 24 at the Comedy Death Ray-UCB Theatre.

I would go to that club based on the name alone! Comedy Death Ray? Where do I get one? Does it kill people? Do they die laughing?

Can I second, and third, that?? B.J. on Leno was the funniest late night show I've ever seen, and I don't even like Leno! So, Conan should be great :)

I have this odd feeling, and I'm not sure why, but I think that opinion might be just a little biased. I share it, of course, but....why?

Hmm... maybe a little biased ;) But, I'm sorry, you can't beat that museum prank and a constipation contest with Helen Mirren.

Oh, and B.J. has kindly updated his blog today, nothing big just reminding about the new Office this week and Conan:

Just a heads up that I will be a guest on Late Night with Conan O'Brien
tonight (Wednesday, April 4th). The other guests are Ice Cube and Clap
Your Hands Say Yeah so it could (should?) be a great show. I'd say
'should' but that's a lot of pressure on Cube and the rest of us.

And to those of you wondering about when The Office comes back, a new
episode returns tomorrow night (Thursday, April 5th).

Is that too easy of a TWSS? A feel like because of his name BJ Novak is the man with the built-in TWSS. Haha.

BJ was great on Conan tonight! Quick recap for those who missed it (hopefully it'll be up on youtube soon):

They talked briefly about his role in Reign Over Me and how they both come from the Boston area, then Conan asked about how BJ's family was dealing with his massive success with the Office and BJ talked about how his Mom has one of those Google Alert things for anytime the Office gets mentioned on the internet, which is a lot now so it "probably takes up most of her time." Then he told a story about how his Mom called him up asking if he had been to the Lakers/Clippers game (which he had) and told him that his picture was in the paper right behind Jim Carey, so she sent it to him. When they put up the picture its literally just a picture of Jim Carey and behind him you can see maybe less than a quarter of BJ's head (just an ear and some hair) but his Mom figured out that it was him from just that, so that was pretty hilarious.

The second part of the interview was spent discussing BJ's obsession with Easter candy and how he has to buy up a whole bunch so it can last him the entire year in his freezer and that this year when he went to buy Cadbury Creme Eggs they felt "smaller" to him. So he asked his friends and they all told him that he was just "getting bigger" and he went to the website and the WEBSITE says "They aren't getting smaller you're getting bigger" so he thought that was very odd. Then he figured that he was so obsessed with Easter candy that he must have an old one somewhere in his house, so he searched through all of his cabinets and found one (which he of course brought with him) and held both of them up. And, yes, they are MUCH smaller. He got a huge laugh from the audience and from Conan, until he found out that Cadbury buys add space on the show and BJ said he would probably get shot on the way out.

Anyway, great interview, he was very natural and funny and adorable!

SO cute. I love how he sidestepped Conan's question ("Who's the funniest to work with?") and told a funny story that hadn't already been told a thousand times. (We already know Steve Carell and Rainn Wilson are The Funniest/Nicest People Ever!)

Yes! I forgot to add that part!

Conan asks him who is the funniest to work with on the Office and his answer was "Pete the craft service guy" because he is very Greek and whenever he goes to get food this guy "sells it" to him by explaining what each thing will do for him sexually. He did a very funny impression of this guy, it was great! "Hey BJ! Here's a smoothie with some Splenda in it, know what that'll do for ya?"

Yes! Someone posted it on MySpace so here it is: BJ on Conan

awesome thanks for the link.

One stupid thing, imdb lists him at 5'8 1/2 and steve carell at 5'10" but they are completely identical heights in various side by side scenes on the show.. nice try steve.

"Pete the craft service guy"

Pete's famous! I remember Mindy mentioned him in her blog about some crazy live healthfood bread. He told her not to get too skinny or something.

I love when The Office cast is on Conan. Excellent interview. So fuuny! I really like when BJ Novak loses his super-cool about everything persona. You can see him try to stifle a laugh or two during the interview.

So, go to the Cadbury site?
