I LOVE FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, tonight's episode was so true to life, I thought someone had gone into my memory and recorded my past!

For the first time EVER, tv showed what a REAL mother-daughter sex talk is like.....
none of this BS with soft lights and understanding or a mother acting like it doesn't exist at all.......

True and real, with the confrontation, the speech, the yelling, the tears......ahh the memories!

Oh, and the super awkwardness of your first attempt at doing it was dead on! Does anyone actually do it the first time trying?! I know I didn't and I am really glad that Matt was so nice about it, but then again I couldn't imagine Matt being mean about anything. They really are the cutest couple of like all time! Truly two kids just having fun and being in baby love.....so adorable!

And I swear, Coach Taylor and his wife have the sweetest marriage of all time! That is how I have always imagined marriage to be; all friendship and hanging out.

Plus the glare that Coach gave Matt in church was absolutely DEAD ON of a father vivid about the current situation but has no true power over it.

Poor Tyra, I mean honestly the girl has enough on her plate without her mother going all super trailer trash in public.

Best. Show. Ever.

This show is not allowed to be canceled. No. No. No. Not after we didn't even get Matt-Julie sex. No. (BTW, most awkward television kisses EVER).

My fucked up life is better for an hour when I watch this show. So good.

OK, confession time, I laughed through about half of the mother-daughter sex talk scene. All I could think about was a running gag Arrested Development once did where various characters would say "The mere fact that you're calling it that tells me you're not ready." And then Mrs. Taylor has to go say that line nearly verbatim. I almost fell down laughing. Everything else in the episode was great though.

By the way, I'm no expert, but did that look like the kind of camera that would cost $3000. Looked kind of cheap to me.

Man, this episode was WILD!!!

I knew MaJules werent gonna do it. Glad to see Matt was the one that said that they didnt have to do it. Awesome scenes between them. The "I love you" part. awww. haha. Good to see Tyra give good advice, for once. I really liked her in this episode.

Tim getting his ass beat. That was hard to watch.

I dont know what else to say. This show rules. Cant wait til next week.

Amazing. What was that song playing in the car at the end, with Matt and Julie and the I Love Yous? It was nice.

The Tyra and Riggins stories were SO well done. Subtle and sad and just. OOF. Didn't care too much about Street's tattoo girl, but whatever.

Great episode, as per usual.

Matt and Julie....Thank GOD. I really didn't want this to turn into One Tree Hill, OC 90210.

I'm glad she redeemed herself slightly in the second half, but did anybody else want to smack Julie Taylor across her cute, button-nosed, well lipglossed face during the first half hour? Your adorableness only goes so far, brat.

And I really want the Taylors to become a foster home for all the kids in Dillon with absentee parents. They could have Matt, Tim and maybe even knock some sense into Tyra when her mom goes off to the loony bin. That last scene where Coach invited Tim into the house, broke my cynical little heart.

I would like Tami Taylor to adopt me. Since that's not possible, I think she definitely needs to adopt Tim Riggins. That boy needs some adult supervision and counseling, stat.

I will be devastated if they cancel this show. Every week I watch it, I love it more.

I am just amazed at this show. It was riveting the whole way through. It's better than a movie. Matt and Julie are so right on with their acting in every scene. And Tami and Coach are just unbelievable. So realistic. This was one of the better eps...for me, it's like every week gets better. How do they do it? Can't wait til next week.

It's called "Eyes" by Rogue Wave (and is just available as a single, not on an album). You can find it on iTunes and other locations.

Best part was the CT staredown of QB1 at church. The "I Love You" made me cry. Matt is the best high school boyfriend ever. LylaMama going all crazy in the church parking lot.

Kyle Chandler's hair when he found those panties? BWAHAAA.

This show. Seriously, all day I had that feeling like something really good was going to happen, and then I'd think about it and remember, "Oh, Friday Night Lights is tonight!" This show is that good.

So much to think about, I've got to wrap my head around it all, but...

Tim? Heartbreaking. Heart-frickin'-breaking. I felt like crying watching him stick up for his deadbeat daddy, and then my stomach went all lopsided when he found the camera. Seeing him standing outside the bar drinking that beer? There went my stomach the rest of the way, all flipping around in nervousness. I truly, truly felt awful.

The scene where he returns the camera to CT? No words. I know lots of you have shed tears much earlier than this, but tonight...tonight was finally it for me. The look on his face, in his eyes...tears. Just...tears.

Seriously...what kind of show does this to a person? The awesomeness that is FNL truly knows no bounds.

And I've still got to process everything else, and then watch again!

While I worry about the "don't have sex and then boys will love you" message (perhaps mitigated by the Tyra storyline--not the TyMama storyline, though), my jaw literally dropped during the Mrs. Coach/Julie scene, AD gag notwithstanding. I know this construction gets thrown around a lot in these parts, but seriously, give Connie Britton her motherfucking Emmy right now.

Also loving my man Ryan Adams in the Riggs d******d s****l sequence.

And next week...Houseguest Buddy? Hilar.

eta: I don't mean necessarily Friday Night Lights specifically, just the aggregate of messages on television about "good girls."

also, I don't usually get all hot and bothered about characters professing their love, but I did like the way that scene was shot, and how dark it was, and how you couldn't see exactly how big Matty was smiling, just the corners of his mouth, but you could tell. God, this show is great.

OMG, amazing show as always. The ILYs! OMG!

I was a little upset at how Julie was treating the whole sex situation until the end when they showed just how scared she was. I really think she wanted to have sex to kind of protect herself from ever going through the rally girl deal again. And as she said, to control the situation.

Also, I love how realistic this show is- in any other TV show, CT and Tami would have tracked down Julie and walked in on them. I'm so glad this isn't your typical show :)

I am still smiling from the ILYs between MaJules! I really liked the way the show handled things between them tonight - it was really realistic and definitely not like any of those "teen shows." That's why I absolutely love this show - so real to life and entertaining at the same time.... I can't believe we only have a few new episodes left! But I am confident that there will be a second season.

I guess I'm a cold-hearted girl; this show has never brought me to tears, though I've always felt for the characters. Then tonight, for the first time... tears.

My poor Tim! *sniff* His entire story was painful to watch, from seeing the depths his dad dragged him down to, to his brother not caring enough to do anything, to poor Tim defending his asshat dad, to watching his dreams get crushed, to watching *him* get crushed...

But the thing that brought me to tears was him bringing the camera back to Coach and turning down his offer to come in. The poor boy isn't going to want to depend on anyone anymore, is he? Is he going to have any trust left after this? *sniff*

At least Tyra cared enough to help, and Coach at least tried. I just hope they both try harder in the future.

Great episode. Great acting by TK.

ETA: SparkleStick, apparently we're both suckers for Tim! :D

If only I could say more than "I heart FNL."

So, the ILY. Aww, they even played Rogue Wave's "Eyes." I laughed out loud when Matt said "Don't touch me." So good, so true.

I'm ambivalent to the Tyra/Julie friendship, but props to Tyra for telling Julie that she didn't need to do it.

When Tami was telling Julie not to have sex, the part about being hurt, hard and cynical seemed like it came from experience. Maybe not her own, but close possibly. Still, Tami Taylor, you rock as a mother.

I want more every week.

"Julie, I love you."

Gawd, I've just died of suffocation what with all the fluffy, little stuffed animals filling the living room. Matt is like THE BEST boyfriend in the universe. I just love that boy and want to know where I can find one.

Tami is plain awesome. She wows me all the time. Her talk with Julie was a drop in the bucket compared to her talk with Eric - the "we've been parents the same amount of time" speech. And then Eric's conciliatory "I'm sorry I hurt you". This is a marriage to aspire to.

Oh, and the Coach/Papa Riggins face off - too much hotness for my television to take.

Really? I didn't think that was the message. I thought it was pretty clear that Matt felt like he loved her already, but that he was saying it then to tell Julie it was ok that she wasn't ready for sex.

Yeah, I thought that came from personal experience, too. She also told Coach that what her mother had told her about sex hadn't worked, and she told Tyra a ways back that she used to be just like her. I think there is more to that story.

Condom shopping with Landry! "I guess we can rule out 'max'" H!

Even though Buddy cheated, I still feel for the guy for confessing to CT and trying to make it right.

Oh, and CT's glare when Julie came home and throughout that scene - DAY-UM!

Why does Riggins get hotter when he gets beat up?

I wonder if CT thinks, or suspects, that Tim's dad was the one who beat him up. That's the conclusion that I would have jumped to, I think, but if that was the case CT probably shouldn't have let Tim just leave, to go back to what he might think is an abusive home...

What an amazing episode. The "I love yous" melted my heart. The Tami and Julie conversation was played so well. I agree. Give Connie Britton her Emmy asap!

I loved all the Matt/Julie scenes in the cabin. What was that game they were playing with their legs? I knew Matt would be understanding. His "Don't touch me right now" had me cracking up. He truly is a great boyfriend. I want my Matt Saracen now!

I agree with the poster who liked that Coach and Mrs. Coach didn't go running after Julie. That was realistic. When I "lost track of time" my parents didn't track me down. I just got hell when I got home. The church stare down with Coach and his QB1 was hysterical.

I wasn't shocked that Tim's dad showed his true colors. What an asshole. I actually felt sorry for Tim in this episode.

LostLenore, yep, I'm totally with you! I was wishing so hard that CT would come out after him and insist that he come inside, but I guess he knows that Tim has to want to accept that from him...he can't force it.

Friday Night Lights - you slay me!

As the mother of a 14 (soon to be 15) year old daughter THANK YOU for dealing with the subject of teenage sex in such and honest and intelligent way. The scene between CT and Tami was so real it took my breath away!

My daughter loves this show (Matt Saracen is her TV boyfriend). She'll watch it this weekend 'cause right now she doing homework; I'm sure she'll appreciate seeing Julie's realization that this is a big step and it's okay to wait. Even Tyra told her she didn't have "to do this."

My love for Matt knows no bounds! As the mother of a boy named Matt (who also loves the show), I only hope he'll emulate this kid's behavior and understand if you truly love the girl - sex can wait.

Tami.Taylor.RULES. Best line of the night: "A daughter deserves to be able to talk to her mother."

I don't think that was it either. Sure, Matt was ok with the fact that Julie wasn't ready, but it's not like he's this big mature guy telling his girlfriend that he'll wait for her to be ready. He's not ready either. He's just as scared about it as she is.
