Hey everyone!
Ok, so here's my reaction to this episode! From one of the model's perspectives:
Well, I found this episode hilarious because first we're "high fashion models", then we're rock n' roll runway models (not to be confused with trash), then we're wearing wigs for a comedic film, and finally, we're "high fashion models" crawling on tables in an R&B video....LOL
I was told that this was a hip hop video audition and because of this, and because our casting calls could be so random, I figured they were probably going to make us dance. After all, in pretty much all hip hop videos I've seen, the scantily clad women are actually dancing. Now the funny thing about this audition is that the first question Kevin asked me was something like, "so what kind of music do you like-who's your favorite R&B artist?" Of course, I was a little confused because I had been told to dress hip hop but just I said my favorite R&B artist was Toni Braxton (with a nervous smile on my face because I really don't like R&B). Then, the music comes on and it is totally NOT hip hop (unless I'm just stupid and hip hop's rythm has slowed way down and is sung with a breathy voice). I had actually never heard of Avant nor did I like his music one bit (I kind of thought of his music as a bad version of Usher or Babyface). Of course, I'm also not the type that finds music about going down on women, etc. etc. etc. to have very deep or impressive lyrics-lol ;-)
So now the nation has seen me do my white girl dance...hmm...not sure about that one but I'm damn proud of my white girl dance-lol! Thank God I wasn't asked to crawl on a table. The funny thing is, no suprise, dance had absolutely nothing to do with the job as was evidenced by the models just chit chatting by a pool. I was a little bummed out because I was kind of hoping that we would have the chance to maybe learn a little bit of hip hop choreography that we would then have to audition with for the video.
The photographer in this episode is PHENOMENAL! He is such a sweetheart too! I was actually supposed to get the opportunity to shoot with him as well (as was Nyabel & Grayce) but the plan fell through because I think he had to go back to New York and the timing got messed up. I was so bummed out-I admit I was looking forward to shooting with him more than any other opportunity I'd had up to that point. Mathu's photos of those ladies were wonderful! However, I agree with Janice that Stina's eyes were dead. Girl's got a unique look but she was missing that spark. Crystal's photos were by far my favorite-she has a very classy, elegant look.
I have one little thing to point out and some of you may have noticed. Just checking-did anyone else notice that for the photo shoot Brittany's hair was dyed bright red but then in her meeting with Janice after Fargo spilled the beans, her hair was back to brown? Hmm....
Gabe cracked me up during this episode. Gabe's actually really a sweet guy and I got a total kick out of his reactions to people. The guy's brutally honest but really, he tried to do everything he could for us models. He and Duke were wonderful to work with!
And now for the finale!
