Have you ever watched another show and been convinced it's a BSG ripoff?

Those of you who saw the Chef send off tonight know what I'm talking about. "Previously on" scenes that were never previously on? Check. Sudden, unexplained behavioral changes, ala the first Boomer? Yep. Clearly the Super Adventure Club is a front for the Cylons! A moving speech to a large, grieving audience at the end of the episode? In hindsight it's entirely obvious Adama was partially modeled on Stan Marsh. But why Chef fell from a bridge rather than being airlocked, I don't know. Did Parker and Stone farm out the writing of this episode to whoever wrote Black Market?

Honestly, I'd thought Battlestar Galactica took it from South Park, since South Park inserted new scenes in a previously on bit at the start of "... Probably", an episode of season 4 that was part 2 of "Do The Handicapped Go To Hell?". Mixed in with the actual scenes was the Fonz telling the Happy Days gang that he had no choice - the shark had to be jumped. The previously on bit ended with Fonzie in mid-jump - and after it was resolved we saw no more from them in the episode.

Of course, during last night's episode, I found myself waiting for the caption "1 Year Later" to appear. :)

I think my favorite mention was on Gilmore Girls. Rory is talking on her cell pohne while she was still living with her grandparents. She's telling the person how ever-present Emily was being saying "she's like a Cylon" or something to that effect. It was a total LOL moment, because I was just being introduced to the BSG fandom.

This poor little thread... so much potential, yet so unloved. Of course, it's kind of hard for a Galactica crossover at this stage. I mean, I suppose they could get RDM drunk and convince him to have the BSG guys find a Stargate or something. And as for mentions, the only other one I know is The Office (US), where Dwight begs Michael to come over and watch BSG.

So, in the meantime, let's have some fun with this -- what kind of crossovers would you like to see? Where would it be fun to see someone mention BSG?

For example:

"Cylons have discovered Earth. They look like us, feel like us... and have infiltrated high positions within our goverment. Their plan is to destroy Los Angeles in less than 24 hours -- unless I stop them. My name is Special Agent Jack Bauer, and today will be the longest day of my life."

(Seeing Jack interrogate Six would be worth the price of admission... and you totally know Chloe will turn out to be a Cylon.)

On X-Play, a videogame review show on G4 (sniff, long live TechTV), the VO after coming back from break said: "One of them is a cylon! It's Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb!"

And Morgan Webb said "I am NOT a cylon...they have more emotional range than I do."

As for where I'd like to see BSG, I want Luke of "Gilmore Girls" to be a closet BSG fan, since he was a Star Trek fan back in the day. Beyond that, maybe a strange Scrubs sequence. JD kills the Janitor, and then tens of Janitors show up saying "There are many copies, and we have a plan."

The Luke idea is not too hard to believe. Lorelai had to learn to say "Frakking Celine Dion" from somewhere.

There was a mention of BSG of Jeporady! the other day. The catagory invloved podcasts and the anser was something like, "We don't know if the podcasts for this Sci-Fi Channel show are made by humans of Cylons." No one knew the answer though. One guy said "Babylon 5?", but I was yelling at all of them. I have no respect for college students anymore. XD

I just found this on the SciFi site.

Lost Battlestar

I guess I really need to consider watching The Office.

I can't believe you're not watching The Office already! Maybe they should start running the credits like this. (I'm pretty sure it counts as being on topic.)

BSG was also mentioned in earlier episodes of The Office. I am not sure which episode. So, if someone else knows then they are free to correct me.
BSG was recently referenced a few times on Veronica Mars. She says frack a few times and the writers are all obsessed with BSG and promise there will be more references in later episodes. They actually want Veronica to be watching BSG in those same episodes.

I forgot as well, that BSG was mentioned in the Talk Soup 103 episode. He mentioned it frequently and had a bit with Tricia, Number 6. He acted as if she were his Six that talks to him like she did with Baltar. He was also wearing a shirt that said "Frack Off". It was hilarious.

Ever seen ST:Enterprise "Twilight"? After the Earth's destruction, Enterprise ends up leading a rag-tag fugitive fleet on a journey to a not-so-shining planet known as Ceti Alpha Five.

Then again, the same season saw a ripoff of "that's no moon, that's a space station."

It came up on Gilmore Girls again earlier this season. Apparently, TJ watches Battlestar Galactica.

The webcomic Shortpacked threw in its own view on Adama and Roslin's relationship.

I'm not sure what to say about that....

BSG is mentioned as an aside in Leo Laporte's speech to the Podcast and Portable Media Expo. It's only a very short mention.

Seth Cohen just gave Battlestar Galactica a shout out on The OC.

It was nice.

Well, Summer kind of invited a ton of homeless guys over to the Cohens for Thanksgiving dinner, and Kirsten was freaking out a little and told Seth to keep them occupied. So Seth goes into the living room and says something like, "Have you guys seen Season One of Battlestar Galactica? ...Prepare to have your minds blown!" And then he explains a little more, saying that Starbuck is a girl now....and then it cuts to another scene.

That was pretty much it, and I was all like, "Yeah! I love you Seth!" But then I already did.

One of the guys mutters, "I missed the season finale," which I thought was particularly cute.

On the last episode (3.09 Homecoming) of Heroes, the opening scene with the typical cliche high school lunch shows one of the nerds wearing a BSG t-shirt. Had to stop, rewind, and freeze on that one, but it made me laugh. Nerd shows have to support each other, after all.

On the CNN Future Summit that was presented by Richard Quest, there is a short graphic sequence talking about "Future Gadgets" one of them is a Viper MkII?!

It’s a little disturbing that the guy that taught Veronica about BSG? Rapist!

Is it wrong that the reason I had my suspicions about him during the last episode was because they used the "48 hours earlier" story telling device. Before that I never suspected him at all but then they did that and it made him a suspect in my eyes.

On tonight's episode of American Dad, Steve (the son) needed to get money for his energy drink addiction decided to sell fake tickets to Battlestar Galactica on Ice to his friends.
