Tony ponders an associate's retirement request; Junior takes Tony on a backyard treasure hunt; Hesh seeks restitution for a wrong perpetrated against his son-in-law.

Having taken care of a grandfather with Alzheimer's disease, I can tell you that the number 1 rule is: Take away any firearms in the house, or if like my grandfather, they constantly check their guns, then take away all the bullets, works miracles.

In fact, he threatened to shoot us too, I think its a stage in their paranoia.

Btw if Tony hadn't managed to dial 911, I would say, yes, he is dead, but since he got the call off --> NO.

Wow no previews as if to keep viewers in suspense about Tony's fate.

Yeah that guy literally got driven to suicide, both his families (including Tony's) and the FBI.

Sweet. My show is back!

When I saw Ade I was like, huh? I know it 's been two years but didn't she die?

Ade showing up was a dream of Carmela's.

Cubanita, that was a dream by Carmela. Unfortunately Ade is still dead as a doornail.

No way Tony's dead.

Not a bad premier. Much better than last season, though I'd say the media over-hyped it just a bit. Still, good stuff.

Nice to know Agent Sansevereno got to keep her job after she bungled things with Adriana.

Hey, I have that Artie Shaw song on my iPod!

After all the heart attack anvils, I did NOT see that one coming. Uncle Jun, how many Migs did you shoot today?

Wow--I can barely even remember the rest of the episode. It's not the first time Tony's been shot, but last time it was out in the open. Who's going to decide to stop by Junior's place? Unless Junior himself realizes what he did and calls 911, Tony could actually be done.

btw if he hadn't managed to dial 911, I would say, yes, he is dead, but since he got the call off --> NO

Ah, good call; don't know why that escaped me. They definitely could find him.

I seriously doubt they'd kill Tony off in the first show of the last season! Riveting episode though.

What do you think the point of the sushi overindulgence was?

Loved the train conductor cap on Janice's husband....his name escapes me.

So happy to have this show back! Almost makes up for the loss of Six Feet Under....

Holy cannoli! So much...so much...

Bobby is dumber than we thought. He impregnated Janice. Though...more likely than not, she forced him to lay down, harvested his sperm, and impregnated herself. She's still a mess.

Melfi's counseling is still as worthless as I remember it. Here's a man clearly upset about his uncle. So you bring up his mother. Good plan.

The man who hung himself...have we seen him before? I sincerely don't remember him being as significant a player as he seemed tonight.

Wow. Vito could get more annoying. Who knew?

David Chase - Jamie Lynn Sigler is not cute. Not at all. And she has returned, clearly, to her eating disorder. Help the kid out. Don't make her dance in her underwears.

And Junior? Tony? Wha happened? No previews? That was cruel and unusual. Thank God this show is back, but man, next Sunday cannot come fast enough.

With all the promises of a big shocker in the last three minutes...how many other people thought it was Gene's suicide? I know *I* got played.

Wow. What a great return. Especially Meadow's opening scene. Thank you God.

I can't believe it! I simply can't believe it!

NO PREVIEWS!!!

It's not like we're in suspense as to whether Tony lives or dies, folks.

Now poor Gene Pontecervo (sp?) has something else besides being eternally known as "the other guy who was Made with Christofah". The crow on the windowsill has struck.

Brilliant episode. I loved seeing Ade again, even it was only a nightmare. Poor Tony. I sort of hope he dies in this episdoe and the rest of the season is cleaning up the mess. Is that wrong?

Didnt Six Feet Under do the no preview thing after Nate's NARM? I wonder if there is a trend.

ETA SFU comment.

Good episode although the opening montage was kind of funky. Not sure if I dug that spoken word stuff.

I miss Ade.

That was an interesting way to end the episode. I assume Tony lives, but no previews? What could that mean?

Crazy. Back with a bang. No other TV show would dare leave us in such suspense at the end of a first season episode.

Fairly high body count, right? 2 deaths, three major injuries... and we have no idea where things are heading. We're back where we started, as most major plot developments were wrapped up neatly by the end. So what can we expect, other than Tony coming back miraculously from a gunshot wound? (and Junior getting shipped off to a home)

Did anyone else think Tony was going to kill Junior? After all the talk about how Tony tried to kill his mother after her stroke, I figured he was going to poision Junior to put him out of his misery. Turns out Junior had the same idea.

I noticed that several characters (Vito, Gene) made references to the fact that Tony might not be around forever. Interesting, especially in light of what happened.

What a tense ending.

It's E911. It shows the address that the call is from. The'll dispatch the police. He'll live if only because he is extraordinarily, if not supernaturally, lucky. All the snitches that can tag him conveniently die.

I loved Tony reversing himself and saying "it's a nursing home" to Melfi when talking about Junior's situation. He always takes the opposing point of view in nearly every situation, and, concerning Junior, it got him in a lot of trouble. Definitely see trouble brewing with New York, and it looks like Vito is going to be right in the middle of it.

Hard to believe that she was actually slated as the main lead IIRC from Season One and how it was all about the therapy. She's still credited before Carmela even!

As for the man who hung himself (Eugene a.k.a. Thin Guy), he really hasn't been significant before, but he was made with Christopher. I was expecting that to come up with their conversation. Sucks that he's gone, but seriously, he should've stood up to his wife, remembered that he took an oath, and that he says what goes whether they want to move away or not. Fine to by the house, but too bad he didn't learn that once you're in, there's no getting out (and Tony even said that directly to him years ago).

Vito? Meh. Tony getting shot was really out of nowhere, and surprised me more than two main 24 characters getting killed in the first 10 minutes since it seemed as if it were a normal ending with Tony making dinner for Junior, and being the main star to get shot.

Anyone watch "The Shield"? A recent episode featured the death of a major character at the end...except she wasn't dead. Nonetheless, they left her character and the story completely out of the previews that week...so I wasn't surprised by the lack of any previews tonight.

The only problem is, nobody could possibly expect Tony to die. Unless all the other sixth season preview scenes that he's in are going to be part of his tunnel-of-light experience...

He and Christopher were made together.

Also in Season 5 "Unidentified Black Males" he was the one who went upside Little Paulie's head with a beer bottle and beat the shit out of him for making him the butt of a gay related joke. Finn was terrified after seeing that occur and told Meadow that he didn't want to go back to the construction site because of it.

Wow I knew Junior was unhinged, but I still can't believe he shot Tony. I don't think Tony will die, but wow, I was still shocked.
Eugene killing himself was predictable, but still sad. And this episode reminded me that Christofuck is such an unbearable asshole. He dangled that "hit" in front of Eugene, knowing it wouldn't do squat. He was just being an asshole.
I like the storyline with Carmela too. It's like the Tony/Carm relationship is taking its predictable cycle again -- he lavishes her with gifts, but still shuts her out. The reaction of Carm learning that Tony had gone to the sushi place without her was priceless.

Eugene was made the same day as Chris...

He has been around a while...
