I don't even know.

I still think it's funny how even after Chris was one of the most popular contestants ever on the biggest TV show, and one of the most successful acts in the past four years, if you plunked him into Comic Con, unshaven, in a sweatshirt and jeans, I bet only a handful of people would recognize him.

1st time poster to this thread always been a bit of a fan of Chris. I hate to be the barer of bad news but if any of you are unfortunate enough to know the horrid horrid UK group Westlife (atrocious act yep on Simon Cowells label) kareoke kings but apparently they are to release a cover of What About Now here in the UK.
It may boost some sales for Chris in the UK and I guess he will at least get some cash for it but oh its just going to be woeful.

That is an absolutely horrifying and horrible idea! Why are Westlife so damned content to make their name by releasing singles of current hit songs? They don't even change it up ala Kris Allen! It might temporarily boost Daughtry's sales in the UK, but more likely, Westlife's fans won't bother to go buy the original. Also, the UK has a fairly strong rock crowd right now, I wasn't surprised that Daughtry didn't translate as well over there as, say, Kelly Clarkson. Please, please disband Westlife!

Wikipedia says Daughtry's version was used in episodes of X Factor and Britain's Got Talent and reached #11 on the UK Singles Chart this year, so the real thing has gotten some play, though it's true that Westlife is likely to have a bigger hit with it over there.

Well they performed it on the X Factor results show on Sunday and it was every bit as horrifying as I expected! It's an exact replica - is currently number 2 on itunes so doubt it will be number 1 by Sunday. What gets me is Cowell has the audacity to call various contestants performances kareoke yet one of the biggest acts on his label does exactly that.
I have to say i wouldn't consider the UK to have a very rock orientated music taste as a whole Pearl Jam's recent album only got to number 9 here and was no 1 in the US and Australia and they've never had a number 1 album here - to me that says it all really.

Daughtry is headlining the Dallas Cowboy Thanksgiving game. That is a huge stadium. This is the first year and it seats 100K. I think we had the Jonas Brothers last year. Huge step up.

That's fantastic - a huge audience between the stadium (85,000 - 100,000) to millions on television. Great for Chris and the band!

Leave This Town was certified Platinum.

They're also apparently starting a new leg of the tour later this month.

I just saw on Twitter that Chris and his wife Deanna are expecting twins in November, via IVF and a surrogate. Congrats to them both!

Chris Daughtry has confirmed Daughtry's new album will be release on November 21, 2011. There is a thread at mjsbigblog about it.

I'm sort of ambivalent feeling towards Chris Daughtry, but I have enjoyed some of his band's songs at different times on the radio. I certainly admire him for his talent and his wonderful success though. I admit to being quite envious that Daughtry's fans get this new album in November. You are very lucky!

I looked for a recent performance of the band to post. I found this performance at Seneca Niagara Casino, Niagara Falls, New York from June 23, 2011 of a new song called "Rescue Me" that is supposed to be on the new album.

I listened to this song a couple of times, and I think that I like it quite a bit. Also, from some stuff in the thread from mjs, apparently there are going to be a couple of harder rock songs on this album. I am really interested in checking them out and in fact, the whole album when it's released, because this might be one I would like to buy.

That's "Nickelblack Monday"! I wonder if they knew that was going to be the day that "Here and Now" was coming out and decided to piggyback onto that traffic.

I don't care for Daughtry the person either...that huge tattoo across his back would seem to sum him up.However I do know that he married his first real girlfriend, a war widow with two small kids, he's a real family man, and that Idol was his biggest venture outside his hometown to that date. So it's kind of conflicting.
Several of his songs are really good and so is his voice, so there's certainly a solid reason for his success.

I love Daughtry's new song. http://www.daughtryo...ws/new-daughtry

Daughtry has helped a lot of other idol alums, including Kris Allen and James Durbin. I don't know him personally, but the fact that he's been so willing to mentor them, as well as introduce him to other people in the industry who can help them, speaks volumes about what type of person he is.

Renegade is a damn good song. I wish I was optimistic about rock radio embracing it.

I know that the meme has always been that rock stations won't play music from idols, but off of the first album, "What I Want" went to number 6 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart, "It's Not Over peaked at number 5, and a song called Crashed made it to 24. "It's Not Over" hit the top 20 on the modern rock chart, too.

I think at that time rock stations were open to playing Daughtry's music, but they had a lot of soft rock songs on the album, so that changed things.

Jesus, I know there hasn't been a World Series Game 7 in like 10 years, but you'd think they would have bothered to check to see if Chris Daughtry still had working vocal cords before they penciled him in to sing the national anthem last night. Those high notes had to be painful for him; they sure as hell were for me. Get thee to an ENT, son.

The comments were OTT. Too funny.
