Yes, it's a Nicki Clyne Mega Mix!

Download (Click to download, or right click save as target.)
Details: 2mins 59 secs, 27MB, mpeg format.

More Info (including screen shots.)

Basically it's a creative little mash-up featuring the best bits of Cally, combined with Nicki Clyne singing and dancing in her New Pornographers vid. Plus you get other little treats, like seeing Nicki attempt to speak German.

Enjoy :)

You'd be wanting to put this in the Fan Art thread, I think: it's mostly icons but there are vids there, too.

Welcome aboard, NibblerFan. I'll reply to your vid over in the Fan Art thread.

July 2006 - It makes more sense now to have separate FanArt and FanVid threads.

I think this is what's meant by fan vid -- if so, it's my very first and my very favorite. Especially if you're a toasterfracker (or LP lover) like me.

That was great. If you find any other fun ones, I hope you'll pass them along here.

The music wasn't so much my cup of tea, but it worked really well thematically. And hey, Toasterfrakkers unite!

Glad to see that fanvids have gotten their own thread!

One of my favorite BSG fanvids is "Jerusalem" by Seah and Margie, which can be found here. A while back in the Media thread, there was a discussion on BSG as really about "Chicks in Space." This one addresses that quite well, and would give Jacob plenty of material to analyze with. :)

Another vid that I find generally awesome, but also slightly disturbing, is "Sex, Violence, Cylons" by Martouf Marty, which can be found here. It's a hard R at best, but is quite the ride.

Enjoy!

Hollywood has four BSG vids that are fantastic. The editing is professional quality and even if the song choices aren't your style, the vids are worth the time and effort. They are all at Hollywood's site. Rock Star Poser is general, Square One is Starbuck, There There is Boomer/Sharon and I think Where is My Mind is gen or Baltar.

I second TharrakaCadulla's rec for Jerusalem. It's an interesting look at the main women of galactica. It's actually thoughtful, which isn't common for fan vids (not that there's anything wrong with that).

I think this same person has also done a lot of Farscape vids under the name Lt. Garrix, which are accessible via a different site. Practice sometimes does make perfect.

Anyway, there's one BSG LJ community, galactica_vids, that I'm aware of. There's probably others out there in MySpace, on the Web, or other communities too.

I've ginned up my own vision of what I'd like the Season 3 credit sequence to look like. I think things have changed far too much to have the same sequence for S1/S2.

So without further blather:

http://members.shaw....G S3 INTRO2.avi

XViD codec required.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=gFDON5ZAaa0

YouTube link for the XViD impaired.

Let me know what you think...

You're probably right about the credits needing a change. I do miss the season 1 music though and I'd love for them to go back to it.

You've done a nice job!

That would be an interesting to one to see if you'd never seen the show. Thanks for sharing it.

Here's a good one. Brokeback Galactica
It works very well.

And I really like this Lee and Kara video here. Scroll down to Cold, Cold Water. It's Lee, Kara and angst. Yah!

That.was.awesome. Seriously, email that to the people at Scifi. I would love to start the new season with those credits.

I saw this on YouTube and got hooked; it's set during season 2 and is basically sex and explosions set to a cool song.

BattleHard Galactica

ETA: I re-linked the video, which had been deleted but is now back up.

hushpuppy22, glad you liked the vid! I like it a lot.

I guess it would help me to find a wider variety of videos (character-wise, I mean) if I didn't look in the Apollo/Starbuck Fan Video Archive. But.... Pilots! Hot Pilots! I'd even consider going so far as to say Hot Pilots In Looooooove! Or at least deep smit. Smite. Smitten-ness. And it's not on purpose, but these are all by Tame. They also use clips from all the way through to the end of season 2 so viewer beware!

This Is How A Heart Breaks The title pretty much says it all. Lee/Kara angst and hotness. Mostly angst though, with incidental hotness.

Body and Soul which has some nicely edited bits that suit the title of the song. Which I wasn't really digging so much. "What is this? It reminds me of some 80s guy. Oh. Rick Astley. It is that 80s guy!" But hey, it's Lee and Kara stuff. And I love Lee and Kara stuff!
Or you can watch this one, which is sort of the same idea, but without that boppy 80s vibe. Obviously I need to listen to different radio stations because Nickelback and Rob Thomas sound like Chris Daughtry. Or, you know, vice versa. But not so goaty.

Hello. I guess I think Evanescence is a good fit for this. Nice, quietly eerie, lonely vibe to it. Based mainly around You Can't Go Home Again, but has clips from all over the place.

And my guilty pleasure! Um... yeah.
It's Getting Hot In Here. It's deliciously shameless Lee-ogling. I generally don't love the style choice of using still photos in vids, but I make an exception for this! Pretty pretty Lee. And it gets bonus points for making excellent use of the Lee Adama Eyebrow Pop. No, I don't rewind and keep watching that over and over. Really.

I'm new to the whole fan vid thing, but I found one that I just love, in all it's Lee/Kara shippiness glory, set to Fall to Pieces by Avril Lavigne. Clicky.

I must have watched this thing eleventy billion times now. IRL, I probably wouldn't like them being together, but I love the thought of them. Does that make sense? And how pretty they both are. That really helps.

Thanks for all the video recs. Here I am in Spain, by myself (for work). Raining outside so that's my excuse not to go out. Missing my boyfriend.

But lord how time has flown today what with all the videos and fan fic.

I think I'm becoming obsessive.

Wow, SA22C, I just watched your season 3 opener. You did a great job! I especially love the Prelude to War twist you added to the second half. =) I'd love it if they actually had a season 3 opener like that in October. Really, so much has changed that they can't focus it simply on them looking for Earth.

Also, did you just estimate the number of survivors after the Gina set off the atomic bomb? I actually thought it would be higher than that, maybe 44,000. Anyway, great job!

ETA: Ha, wow I'm such an idiot. I completely, completely forgot that in the end of LDYBP2 they give the population of New Caprica. Ahh geez, I think without new BSG I'm getting stupider

There's this one. I found it just searching and fell in love. It's more angsty than some of these others, but I like the beginning with the battlescene, the bridge section was handled terrifically, and the ending. . . aww.

Thing is, I don't even watch the show, but like the office, a great video has made me a fan.

Oh em gee, that is absolutely my favorite fanvid at the moment. I watched it repeatedly when I first found it, and now that song is permenatly on my playlist. And that's saying a lot, seeing as I'm not exactly a 'rap girl'.

And for the first time I actually have something to contribute. This is my first venture into vidding of any kind, so I would love you forever if you'd give any sort of feedback. Be forewarned that it's of my BSG crack!ship D'anna/Doral, but I am really hoping for some comments on it. Over My Head (D'anna/Doral) (link to my post at Eljay, with YSI and MegaUpload links)

ETA: Just watched Hard Knock Life. Wonderful edits, I loved how the hits were timed just right for the beats of the song. And Tigh as Ms. Hannigan. Hee.

Somebody pleeeze make a vid to Mike & the Mechanics' "Silent Running". I've always thought this show is perfect for that song. Check out the lyrics.

I got a really weird idea this morning, thanks to surfing the forums along with my iTunes. I think that someone could make a really awesome end of S2/S3 video, a New Caprica video, to Kanye West's "Jesus Walks". Granted, it would take some poetic visual license, but that beat is just so dark and awesome.
