(If you guys want to replace "Jim & Pam" with "Jam", that's fine by me. It did take me forever to find the number of seconds for that part of the title, though, I thought that - "27 Seconds" - was perfect)

I noticed early on the subtlety of this star-crossed friendship's longing side. I liked that, but am really enjoying how it's getting bigger - and still being done subtly (noting Pam's quiet wish for a Valentines Day something from Jim while wanting one desperately from Roy). This show's approach seems different from the now-typical romantic tension cliche on TV shows, and that's good.

I was listening to sappy romantic 80s rock the other day and thought this would be perfect for a Jam Mix, particularly after their discussion at the end of "Boys and Girls." James Ingram's "Whatever We Imagine"

Don't be afraid
I can meet you halfway
We can't always know
where the road ends up
but with some luck I know we can go
Wherever we imagine

Why should we wait
later on may be too late
'cause where can we run
when you see there's half a chance
that we might really become
whatever we imagine

And I imagine you and me
just taking shots at what we see
and if we fall
we'll shake away the dust
and just outlast them all

You ought to see
all your heroes in me
but if we get wise
we can break the walls we make
and you can see in my eyes
whatever we imagine

And I imagine you and me
just taking shots at what we see
so let the walls go down
and we can try it again
'cause nobody can stop us now
Don't be afraid

'cause I'll meet you halfway
you're not far behind
if we climb this hill
I know there's still a chance we can find
whatever we imagine

Now that Sordid heart has included a Jason Mraz song in a Jim/Pam mix, I'm a little less embarrassed to include mine. (Can't help it, I love him.)
"Mr. Curiosity" - lyrics here.

I'm really loving the post-revelation Jim/Pam stuff lately. They aren't going overboard with angst, and Pam hasn't decided to run to Jim because she suddenly realizes they are meant to be. Jim telling Kelly that sometimes you have to realize that someone else just isn't into you was great. (As long as there is no Jim/Kelly in the future, but I doubt they'd go there.)

Ok i have a contibution to the Jim/Pam mix. I found it on the soundtrack from the first season of Scrubs . The Song is "Fighting For My Love" by Nil Lara. Some of the lyrics arent applicable but certain lines really are. In my mind it is from Pam to Jim.

Sample Lyrics:

I was taught when I was young to share myself to show my love
Smile at everyone Oh to shine above the sun
Now I'm standing next to you I think I've changed my point of view
I've noticed you can tell
You're fighting for my love

This song is for when Pam finally realizes that she should be with Jim. (I am being optimistic. i know)

Big Jam fan here. I've been watching the Office from the beginning and I've seen the angst and longing that is Jam. My input for the mix is a song from the Crash (awesome movie) soundtrack called "Save Me" by Bird York. I always think of Jam when I hear it.

Clearly everyone has overlooked the perfect Jim and Pam song: "Jam" by Michael Jackson.

Seriously though, Nickel Creek's "Jealous of the Moon" makes me think of Jim and Pam, especially in light of the "Boys and Girls" episode. Lyrics

Article about non-couples who should be together.

Pam Beesly and Jim Halpert (Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski), "The Office": They're adorable together, and her fiance, Roy, is such a lunkhead. The good news is that the comparable pair in the British version of "The Office," Dawn Tinsley and Tim Canterbury, ultimately did come together in the special that wrapped up the series. What prompted Dawn to see the light: Unlike her fiance, Tim encouraged her dreams of becoming an artist. Did you notice how recently in NBC's "Office," fiance Roy pooh-poohed the idea of Pam taking a graphics-art internship, but Jim encouraged her to do it?

It refers to the length of the superhot, tension-laden silence that occurs between Jim and Pam on the booze cruise. At the time, posters remembered thinking that it was a pretty long time to go without talking on a tv show and someone posted how long they were out on that deck, just staring at each other. 27 seconds.

I just downloaded my first Office fic to fanfiction.net:

Just a little something that popped into my mind and wouldn' t leave me alone. I've written fics for other fandoms before, but this is my first Office attempt, so be kind. :)

Avery456 It was good! I thought it really rang true to the characters. I always hate it when the fanfic writers are so intent on their own agenda that they don't bother trying to stick with the characters personalities, but you seem to have a good handle on the dialogue and tone.

I once read a Harry Potter fanfic (don't ask) that I was halfway through before I realized it involved Harry, Ron and Hermione in a group sex thing with Hagrid. It has scarred me for life.

Yeah, you have to be wary of fanfic, Pixel. You'd be surprised at the (virtual) reams of paper devoted to "Sparrington" -- the relatioship between Jack Sparrow and Commodore Norrington from "Pirates of the Caribbean." I found that out when I was looking for info on my new obscure-British-actor crush, Jack Davenport (Norrington, Steve from "Coupling").

Excuse me, but I have been laughing about this for the last 20 minutes..were blast-ended screwts involved?
As the author of 28 BTVS related stories, let me be the first to tell you, Avery456, that writing fanfic is a lot of fun, and not silly at all. (at least at the time)
I may not write fanfic anymore, but I am still a shipper, and Jim/Pam really make my week.

On thing I've noticed about Jim and Pam's relatiosnship in recent episodes is that the point of view has changed. Yes, each episdode is really from the cameraman's point of view - but in addition, depending on who does the talking head and whose face the camera focuses on, we also get a character point of view. Case in point is Jim and Pam's "date" from The Client. We see them having fun, and we see the awkward conversation after - but we get Jim's interviews, not Pam's (like his wistfulness "It's not a date when she goes home to her fiancee). We don't see Pam's thoughts.

But in two recent eps (maybe more, but I can't remember) we get much more of Pam's POV. In Boys & Girls and Valentines Day, we see Pam's talking heads. Jim does have a talking head in Valentine's Day, but it's not very revealing.

Adding to that, Jim never mentioned Katy in one of his talking heads. It was always Pam.

I think that, in general, they're shifting to Pam's POV because they're shifting to more of a "she pines for him" plotline.

I'm a longtime fic writer for Star Trek: Enterprise, but this is my first tiny attempt at writing for another fandom. And I hear y'all on the scarred for life thing...one of the first fanfics I read was an XFiles fic about Scully and Skinner involved in a menage a trois with an alien! Fortunately I didn't let that horrifying experience traumatize me me for life, and learned that there is a lot of fantastic fic out there. Some Trek fics I've read are a million light years better than anything I've ever seen on screen.

Uh, topic? The Jam moment that ripped me to shreds was Jim's talking head after their "date" on the rooftop. "I guess it's not a date if the girl goes home to her fiancee at the end of the night. Right?" (Sorry, going from memory here.) The look on Jim's face as he says "Right?" just. kills. me. You can hear his heart breaking into a million little pieces.

The Jim look that kills me is after he puts Pam down in "The Fight". One minute, he's playing around with her, and he's got his arms around her for what we can only guess is the first time, the next, she's acting like he tried to feel her up. Every time I watch that scene, I have to rewind it like Bart showing Lisa the exact moment that Ralph Wiggum's heart breaks.

eagle? Word. I think that was the most heartbreaking moment so far. There's been lots, with the "it's not really a date if she goes home to her fiancee" and the boat business, but I think that's the one that got me the most, from The Fight.

My Jam mix would have to have Autumn Sweater by Yo La Tengo.

Lyrics

When I heard the knock on the door
I couldn't catch my breath
Is it too late to call this off

We could slip away, wouldn't that be better
Me with nothing to say, and you in your autumn sweater

I tried my best to hide
In a crowded room, it's nearly possible
I wait for you, oh, most patiently

So I looked for your eyes
And the waves looked like they'd pour right out of them
I'll try hard, I'll try always
But it's a waste of time
It's a waste of time if I can't smile easily
Like in the beginning
In the beginning...

I know this was posted in the old thread, because I may or may not have watched it an unhealthy amount of times, but here is a fan-made video that is pretty Jam-centric, although it has other lovely Officemate moments as well.

Jim and Pam- The Musical

I think that's the one that got me the most, from The Fight.

I can't nail down the most painful for me, but I agree with a lot of other posters that it's Pam's turn to yearn. (Hey, that rhymes!) So many of what we consider great Jim and Pam moments end with Jim being sad, making me want to give him a big old bear hug. I'm happy that Jim's trying to put some distance between them and get over it, because maybe it will make Pam wake up.

Love Jim, love Pam, love Jim+Pam – but I could never wear a shirt like that. Some things are too “sacred” to be slapped on merchandise. I think the “27 seconds” should be seen, heard, and appreciated (hell, revered!)… but not used as a catchphrase. (YMMV)

I'm not crazy about that shirt either- maybe if it were a picture of them on the Booze Cruise. Or just a cute picture of them on a shirt would make me more inclined to wear. Although I'm not quite to that level of obsession *yet*.

A lot of people seemed to displeased with Pam lately, but I'm not. Jim's backing off, so she has to acknowledge her feelings for him at one point. Her sad little stares at Jim made me go "Aww" though.
