It's been eons since I've posted, but I'm hoping the gang's still here.
My assignment in the mountain library has ended. I was demoted from circulation supervisor back to a regular library specialist. I'm starting a new job at an affluent library in the nicest part of the city. It's a relief. I hope I never supervise people ever again, I am not cut out for it.
To be partially fair to myself, the people I tried to supervise were utterly impossible, surly and insubordinate to the extreme. I too made the mistake of going to human resources to no avail.
So I'm off to my new job, and this week, one of the directors is going to go up there to "observe and implement changes". One of the changes is to take away the clerks' desks and have them on their feet 40 hours a week. I think they're trying to make them quit, so they don't have to fire them and risk a lawsuit.
I don't understand what happened over the course of the past 2 and 1/2 years, but I reiterate: I hope I never, ever supervise people ever again.
