Of all of the Season 2 designers, this guy probably has some of the biggest buzz. He's the crazy looking "beard guy". A sampling of his bio from the Bravo site:

Santino graduated from The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. While still in school, Santino began assisting acclaimed artist/designer Tony Duquette. This experience was one of the biggest turning points in Santino’s life. The knowledge he learned from Duquette was invaluable. Working behind the scenes at many Los Angeles fashion companies, Santino became indispensable to other designers. He continues honing his craft to prepare for the day when he establishes his own label.

Hmm, working with Duquette is pretty impressive, but this guy is only 30? Yikes, he looks really rough.

Though its too early to really know much about him, Santino reminds me of Jafar, from Aladdin. It's distracting.

He reminded me of Rasputin...maybe he should have borrowed Daniel's shirt. Oh the arrogance in his treatment of poor Chloe.

He seems very full of himself, but with reason.

"They just didn't want to give me two in a row." Yikes.

Ahaha. Thanks for that.

I thought saying "They just didnt want me to win twice." in front of Chloe was in poor taste. But I did love his dress from the first runway.

He's good. Bad attitude, but good. I kind of want to punch him in the mouth, but I want to see him continue. His work so far is really interesting.

That was just so catty, and insulting to Chloe who did have a nice design. It would be great karma if she outlasts him. I'll only forgive him because he was laughing during Andre's breakdown, which then set off his model too.

Is it wrong of me that I look at Santino, and all I can think is, "Kneel before ZOD!!"?

Santino seemed so pleased when Andre lost his mind on the runway. Gleeful.

He and Nina would make mean, attractively repulsive babies. I'm imagining their babies because I find them that attractively repulsive, but that's probably just a me thing.

I just could not believe how utterly offended he was that The Great Santino (sounds like a magician) was standing up there with the losers. What a tool. I liked both of his designs, but he absolutely needs to get a grip on himself and realize that the judges are probably watching him with a critical eye with regard to his reactions to the choices they've made.

Just coming over to the thread to say, "Jackass." His designs are and will be interesting, but...Dude -- you're on a reality show. A reality show. When they told you to use what you were wearing to create your design, maybe you should have cut off a piece of that enormous ego, too. Sheesh.

ETA: The Great Santino. Bwah!

I look at him and I keep muttering, "Beck in bowl. Put Edwina beck in bowl."

(This is an obscure "All of Me" reference. I love that movie. And Santino is, to me, a dead ringer for Richard Libertini as the guy who's running around trying to mix souls in a bowl.)

Hee! I love the all too rare chance to think about Praka Lhasa.

From the previews, I also found Santino kinda scary and overly scraggly looking, but.....the more I watched the show, I think that if you shaved the beard and washed his hair, he would be......not sexy exactly, but kinda oddly attractive. Maybe it's just the fact that I like his eyes and his voice and I do think he is talented and like his confidence about it. Of course, from the previews it looks like he goes from confident to arrogant - gee, Santino, it may not boost your chances of winning to get up in Nina's grill like that.

Santino proved to me tonight that I don't care how good your designs are if you're a total ass. I always wondered how objective I was in my critiques, and it turns out...not very much.

I liked his designs. I don't care too much that he's an ass... I prefer him over Emmett for some odd reasons, perhaps I just don't like Emmett's designs very much (so far)... I guess Santino proved to me that I care far more about talent than personality (espically if I don't have to deal with them)

I didn't like the first dress, it looked like a set of curtains thrown onto her body. I think the color just stood out and that helped him win.

I liked both of his designs, and I liked him initially, but -- he's kind of a dirtbag. And he's certainly the definition of fugly.

Still, I am totally going to enjoy him yelling at Nina.

I didn't like the first dress either, I thought that depsite the "hand-worked details" and dye job, it still looked juvenile. Baby doll dresses are not exactly the height of fashion to me, at least not right now.
Maybe he was smart about that though, because fitting a babydoll silhouette on a never-before-seen model is cake.
And I like Nina, even with all her icy honesty, and hope she slams him right back (when the time comes!)

This guy looks like quite the stoner.

And his babydoll dress looked remarkably like the one Miss Klum had on. Maternity all the way.

Oh lord, you're so right. Now I'm going to spend the rest of the season waiting for him to hypnotize someone or whip out a wise-cracking parrot.

Oh man I wanted to strangle that dude with his beloved leather jacket. Also, if he were serious about being a billionaire, which I think he was, he should get into finance or invent Harry Potter---I don't think "Third World" dresses are going to get him there.

That said, his confidence makes him weirdly, hideously, hypnotically attractive. As someone said earlier, Rasputin. I just hope he lacks Rasputin's staying power.

I was getting more of a Chris Novoselic vibe. And he has lovely huge eyes to match his ego.

I only saw it once, but it really looked like he smiled/laughed rolled his eyes or did something to make the winning twice thing a joke. He might have reached out immediately and said just kidding, your piece was AWEsome, congratulations. And the laughing at Andre's breakdown looked pieced in from some other moment. As if he may have smiled, but they found some other footage to make sure we knew this guy is a jerk. If he really did laugh that heartily, well - that's just. I dunno. It's awful.

He's got the skills, I'm eagerly awaiting the battle with Nina, but right now I don't feel the love.

(Seriously, I clutched the pearls when they ended the previews with his outburst. This is gonna be fun!)

I know this is wrong... but I think he's kind of sexy. Which makes NO sense because he has a ponytail AND a combover, he has big jumbo sized oddly shaped ears, messed up teeth, bad facial hair. He should not be sexy. But I kind of think he is. And I am ashamed. ASHAMED!

On that note, I didn't care for his first design. And I thought him saying the "they didn't want to give me it twice" was more nervous energy... he just destroyed his (supposed) favorite jacket, and then he didn't win. So that must feel kind of lame, and I think he just said whatever he could to justify it to himself.

But yeah. He does look kind of like he's going to be a big time ego.
