I don't see how it gives anything merit beyond them realizing they had a new group of fans to service. Which they did, just as they started doing with Clois the second Lois showed up onscreen and like they did for Chlark all the way into S10 and Fortune, where they had Chlark think they were married. Not to mention that Chlollie was nothing but fanservice from start to finish. I don't see Chlois anvils being anything different from simple fanservice to keep a certain segment of the viewers watching as long as possible. That doesn't, however, mean it was ever considered to actually happen. It's just like Chlark in that way; played up occasionally to keep people watching, but nothing that was ever going to come to fruition.
The fact that Hunter would write dialog as a shout out to the theory clearly demonstrates it had it had merit and that the writers were more than just aware of it.
