Any idea when season 8 enters the syndication rotation in the US?

From what I've noticed in Lifetime, once S9 episodes start to air and as long as ABC doesn't repeat S8 episodes in Primetime hours.

Callie is freaking 38/39,she should only be like a year ahead in age from Alex and Meredith. Which is why it bugs that she is sitting in meetings with
attendings for about two seasons now (eye roll). Miranda is 41/42, I believe she was in her fifth year and Callie was in her fourth.

I think Callie and Bailey were the same year, as they competed against each other for chief resident. I think Miranda and Callie are probably about 38 now, with Miranda possibly being a year or 2 younger because of Callie's time off for the Peace Corps between college and med school. They both became attendings right after residency (2 seasons ago, thus being in the attending's meetings), no fellowships for either of them.

But it's all guess-work anyway...

They retconned it though . In 6.15 there are 2 other females in her group never mind her year

In season 6 during Callie's fight with her dad over the gay thing, Arizona said to Callie that "you've been the same (straight) for 30 years.

That really doesn't make sense if Callie and Bailey were same year....when the show started was Bailey already chief resident? If not, why was she in charge of the interns? I'm not sure Callie and Bailey were same year. Regardless, I agree that Callie just became an attending in season 6 and probably wouldn't be hanging out with Derek, Mark, Addison professionally. Personally is a different matter. Same for Bailey. Although they did establish a mentor type relationship between Derek and Bailey.

And I think we're to assume that Arizona is a couple years older than Callie at most. She may have not taken off any time between undergrad, med school and the rest...

Baily was talking about her intern year. Callie could have transferred in from another program. Also in 6.15 Callie says "In my third year of residency" when referring to to that polio patient she and Alex had together which was supposed to be during Alex's intern year.

Bailey became senior resident in season 4. M.A.G.I.C were her interns assigned specifically to her (1st episode). Each resident is assigned a group of interns (unless you're Callie I guess). Remember how in season 4 and 5 how they showed Mer, Cristina, Alex & Izzie with their own collection of interns? Callie and Bailey are in the same year (not necessarily the same age). In season 3 Sydney Heron told Bailey that chief resident is the one 5th year resident that rules all the other residents and later that season Callie ended up getting it. Callie couldn't have done that unless she and Bailey were in the same year.

To clarify: is it any year that a resident can be assigned interns? This is where my confusion lies, because George became Meredith's intern after he failed his test (so I guess she was first year resident then?)

My understanding (from various doctor visits) is that you are assigned an intern or several interns for every year after your intern year. They are different each year since they either get bumped up to resident after that or drop the program. On Grey's though after the intern year it seems all residents were assigned the same set of interns and since seasons 1-3 were supposed to take place in one year those were the only interns we saw until Meredith and the gang got bumped up to resident and got their own set of interns which strangely were not shared amongst the residents at first, but eventually they were as well.

It didn't make sense to me either. Because Bailey had our interns when she was in her 4th year. They also recently (maybe in 8x01?) showed Lexie giving the interns the same speech as the rest, which might also fit because Lexie is a 4th year. So the only ones that don't fit that are our core characters, who had interns when they were in 2nd year.

I just try not to think about that stuff anymore, because they clearly don't follow real life when it comes down to it. They're making mistakes again when it comes to the fellowships. Richard's speech said 7 years, not 5.

I have a question regarding episode 6x22, I'd really appreciate it if someone could help. When Meredith confronted Owen regarding Cristina, she said "I know you tried to have Teddy fired, and I believe it's because you love her." My question is, does the her refer to Teddy or Cristina? At first, I thought it was Teddy, but a few friends of mine think 'her' refers to Cristina (mostly because of what Meredith says after, "And if you care about Cristina at all, you will tell her. If you're actually the good guy that she thinks you are. You will tell her.")

Thank you in advance!

Owen urged Derek to hire someone else to be head of cardio (Teddy only had a short term contract at that point).

Hi, I'm hoping you all can help me! I'm new to the show. I discovered it when I got sick and was off work for a while, which has ended with me being on permanent disability. Anyway, I discovered it on Lifetime one day while flipping channels.

The first episode I saw was the one that had the train wreck and the young girl and the older man were impaled together on a pole. From that episode I was hooked.

I ended up watching the rest of the episodes Lifetime shows, then they started again from the beginning. I think I'm missing a season or two in between that they don't show yet on Lifetime.

On Lifetime, they showed when Teddy married the guy so he could have her insurance, but I've read here about Christina operating on him and him dying.

I haven't seen the season where he dies. Does anybody know which ones they play on Lifetime and which seasons I'm missing?

Thank you!

Lifetime messes with the schedule a lot. They preempted Greys for weeks at the end of the summer to rerum marsthons of other shows. However the only season so far that they have not aired is season 8. They may air it soon now that season 9 has begun on ABC but I haven't checked.

Lifetime is airing all seasons, including 8 which already started. Unfortunately, like drwyatt said, their schedule can be pretty unpredictable. Sometimes they'll air 3 episodes every day of the week, or just from Wed to Fri, or just two episodes, or none at all. However, when they air none at all, they count as they had aired and when they're back on the air, the episode is not the one that you left off but the one that is next assuming that they aired episodes all the time they didn't (I remember leaving off in S4 or 5 and from nowhere it was S7 already).

If they keep up the schedule, give it a month and they'll start airing from S1. I think today they'll air S8 eps 3-5.

Thank you all so much! I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question.

Lifetime hadn't been showing it for a while and when they started again, it was an episode I had never seen and then I finally saw the episode where Christina operated on Teddy's husband.

I think, after they show the season they are on now, I will have finally seen them all.
Thank you all again.

Hi all, I hope someone can help me. I'm puzzled over Alex apparently being firmly re-ensconced (yeah, I make up my own words) at Seattle-Mercy?

I was there when he ran into Meredith at the airport and said he didn't want to go (where ever he was going. I forget and don't really care!, since he's back), but it seemed that he was doing so. I was there when he was bitching about the new Peds attending (?) scrapping his Africa program, but it still seemed he was on his way to somewhere that was else.

Now, it seems he's back. Has he gone back to being a resident? He was going to be Attending at his new job, wasn't he? (decades of watching American medical shows and I'm still not certain of the titles). And shouldn't we have seen some scene with Hunt, with Alex begging for, or more likely demanding his job back? Did it happen & I missed it?

I'm frustrated by the feeling I missed something, because I've never missed a single ep of this show (sad but true), and unlike my mother, I've never fallen asleep during one either! Is this just another one of the passport scenes this show seems to be using this season (Mere & Derek moving into the new house comes immediately to mind, but I know that was done offscreen), or did I somehow actually miss a scene or two, and if so, what happened?

Thanks for any info on this mystery of the universe ;-).

You didn't miss anything.

He was all set to go "when Arizona got better" and then the amputation happened, then when they hired the new Department Head, he was going to scrap all the work Alex and Arizona did with the Africa program by shipping it to another hospital, among doing other things to "ruin" the department, so Alex stayed for that and in a round about way for Arizona because he said the main reason he wanted to leave was to see if he could be somebody when Arizona wasn't there to hold his hand which is what he's essentially doing now.

He like the others finished his residency, so he's an attending.

Are there more examples of the foreshadowing Shonda likes to use, i.e., last season Callie mentioning the husband shouldn't have to amputate his wife's leg, only for to have to do that a year later, and this year's Callie saying "I'll be damned if I lose you too," only to finish the season with "apparently I lost you?"

Not just with Callie and Arizona, I'm looking examples for all characters. I find it fascinating.

This example doesn't really count as foreshadowing, but it amused me nonetheless. In one of Arizona's earliest appearances in season five, she's on a plane with Alex and she mentions that she hates flying. I doubt anyone remembered that when they planned the plane crash, but, yeah...that popped out at me.

Izzie tears into Meredith for getting involved with Derek and potentially throwing her career away sometime in late season one/early season two, before making an even bigger mess when she got involved with Denny. Again, not foreshadowing, and a scene I have always enjoyed, but knowing what happens after makes it even more interesting.

I know they don't really count, but still...

This isn't really foreshadowing either, but it was one of Shonda's favorite "circular" moments that she ended up talking to death. Season three started with Izzie crying in what should have been her wedding dress and ended with Cristina crying in what should have been her wedding dress.

Hi. I'm new to the show. After some spinal surgeries, I was put on permanent disability so I started watching repeats on Lifetime.

I don't think I'm watching them in order. I watch an episode, then search the forum and read part of the episode thread (yeah, I've got way too much time on my hands these days) to see what opinions were.

I just watched the episodes with George's death and funeral. I read a few pages of the thread and this is my question, I kept reading comments about how badly TR Knight was treated by Shonda Rhimes.

Could somebody please give me a brief rundown on what she did to him? Or point me in the direction of someplace I can read about it. I can't find anything about it.

Thank you in advance.

George is my favorite character and I was shocked when he died.

Edited to ask: I have noticed (way too much time on my hands) that the 5 main characters have first initials that make the word M.A.G.I.C. Does anybody know if this was done purposely?

Thanks for helping me out. I absolutely love this show and don't know why I resisted watching it all these years. Watching it is the only good thing about being home all day. I hope they start over at the beginning on Lifetime.

I don't think I can summarize it without leaving a lot of it out but it all started when IW, who played Burke, "allegedly" choked PD (I do believe it happened but there never was an official confirmation of that) and then called TRK and offensive gay slur. The big problem was how SR treated the incident and the response towards that and how slowly TRK disappeared from the show until he was asked to be let go from the show in S5 (he was invisible through most of the season). Both TRK and SR have different versions of the story.

Here's TR's official version of why he wanted to leave the show: http://insidetv.ew.c...ls-why-he-left/

You can find more details about the incident and the aftermath in the Media/Chokegate/TR's thread in the forum or Google the issue, lots of articles are still there, I just checked. Hope this can help!

I hope they start over at the beginning on Lifetime.

They start at the beginning once they have aired all (or at least most) GA episodes. Since GA has finished its 9th season on ABC, I'm assuming Lifetime will air them too. You are starting on S6, so three seasons more to go and then they'll air them all again since the beginning.

I hope this can distract you a bit! Best wishes.

One caveat, Lifetime changes their schedule on an unpredictable basis, sometimes skipping episodes in order to run marathons of other shows. If you have access to Netflix, that is your best bet. Season 9 probably won't run on lifetime until season 10 begins on ABC.

I do have Netflix, my kids hooked me up with all of that stuff when I became disabled. That's a good idea. I can start with season one.

Thank you all so much. I need to try to kill as much time as I can so I don't go insane lying around all day. My kids got me one of those kindle things too. (as you can tell, I'm not exactly tech smart).

Thanks again.

Yes go Netflix, by the time this month is over you'll be up to date (Yes the show is that addictive!... for me at least)... Lifetime is really annoying with there re-runs, use to give me a headache. Sometimes after airing a complete season they'll start back to S1 or so versus moving on to the next season.

It is SO addicting! I don't know why I resisted it for so long. I was thinking the same thing, if I start now with season one, I will be ready when the new season starts.

It's pathetic how excited I am for my season one marathon! My husband works out of town and is home for the weekend, but Monday morning I'm watching!

And even more pathetic is that I'll search for the episode thread and read it after each episode. Haha.

You are all so nice. With my husband working out of town and the kids moved out, it gets kind of lonely here sometimes, I appreciate the kindness. Thank you.

Enjoy your marathon, Norwindian!

You get to watch this in bulk, with fresh eyes, unjaded ... good for you. Season 2 is the best, top two for sure, in my personal opinion. But the show as a whole is just so addicting and good - even if it can be frustrating as hell most times. (which I'm sure you'll read about in the episode discussions. lol!)
