I wonder if they'll play the sympathy card here with the dead father/husband.
"[Rolly, the youngest team member,]admits that he's running the Race for his father." Now I'm going to be stricken.

I'm a big softie sometimes, so I feel bad for them. Especially the little guy without his dad. We'll have to wait and see I guess.
But the pink backpacks? No. Just no. TAR is just too tough for pink. I guess the pink will go down with the whole season. Everything will be forgotten real quick after it's over. Kind of like Big Brother 1. Everyone will pretend it didn't happen. And nobody ever saw pink backpacks anymore.

Allison, something? Just had a baby? Can you tell I don't watch it, but see her everywhere?
Allison Sweeney (can you tell I somehow still watch Days? Heh.)
I wonder if they'll play the sympathy card here with the dead father/husband.
I'm expecting that big time, as opposed to TAR3's Jill saying that she was doing it for her brother but only hearing that mentioned once. I like them so far, but I am concerned that the sympathy angle will be played up too much.

"My husband died in a place like this."
"That man looks like our dead father, and that woman, and that building too."
Yeah, I'm risking some serious foot in mouth if they turn out to be like JVJ about it, but it's worth it.

The youngest kid looks just a little to superficial for my liking but.

I'm rambling. But may they have an eventful unarguing experience.

Maybe they'll just take one team member away and then hide that person somewhere along the next route. [Phil voice-over]Because the Weaver family finished last in the previous non-elimination leg, little Rolly has been hidden somewhere along the next leg. Will the remaining members of the Weaver family be able to find him and pull out of last place, or will they opt for the fast foward, and leave Rolly behind? Next... on the Amazing Race."[/PV-O]They could come in last on a NEL and have all their stuff (including the packs) taken away...hee. Are they doing that this season?

I hope they go this angle with the Weavers and not "that reminds me of when Dad was in Iraq".
The oldest daughter, I can't look at her without wondering what happened. Her face kind of looks like it was made of Silly Putty, they squashed it in and added eyes, nose and mouth. Maybe she's just not very photogenic.

Word! Here's hoping that they take after JVJ and don't milk this for sympathy.I like them so far, but I am concerned that the sympathy angle will be played up too much.

Who's JVJ?
John Vito and Jill, a team that raced in TAR3. They started dating after her brother (who was his best friend) was killed on 9/11. But they didn't milk it for sympathy and never mentioned it after their introduction at the beginning of the race.

I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. On the one hand, I think, wow, what a nice lady, she's not out to rake in as much as she can from whomever she can. But on the other, I think, wow, she only values her husband's life at $75,000.
The bottom line is, her husband died in a horrible way, and I do feel for her, even if I might not like them as racers and cringe at any potential sympathy angle.

I do believe it will be a curse, combined with some bad luck,. will bring them down almost right out of the starting gate.
First team out.
