Well, we need a thread for our favorite all purpose shrinks, who have been in Mothership and SVU (have they ever been on CI? Will they turn up on TBJ)?

Do you like the ever lovely Liz Olivet, with her sparks with Logan and Stone, her husky voice, pure velvet over steel?

Or is it the ever bald, ever snarky Emile Skoda, with the smart remarks and the scoffing? (not to mention his appearances EVERYWHERE).

Or do you like them both screaming theories at each other, in that MarthaStewartRFTH ep from season 14?

Represent!

They also did that in "Killerz" from season 10. And that gimmick was the ONLY thing that redeemed the excerable Martha Stewart episode.

Checking IMDB, apparently Olivet was on New York Undercover as well. Did anyone see this?

I like Olivet just fine, love Skoda, and nearly pass out from delight when they cross swords. But I'm really having a hard time seperating Schillinger from Skoda to this day. Keep expecting him to tell a perp to put on the makeup and put up his hair for some fun....

I said this once before, and got no Word for it, but I'm going to try once again: does anyone besides me find Skoda sexy? I mean, come on, Ice-T/Fin has shallow fans. There has to be a little Skoda love lurking.

As an SVUophile, I have to ask, why can't we get more Skoda and less Huang?

Preach, culturevulture73! I am Olivet's slave, hanging on every velvet-wrapped syllable she utters. When I have migraines, I want her to place cold compresses on my brow, hold my hand and talk to me in that "You poor thing" tone of which she is the sovereign.
During one of her absences from L&O, E.O. turned up as the estranged wife on the short-lived American version of Cracker, starring Robert Pastorelli as a poor substitute for Robbie Coltrane. One of the guest stars on same was a certain Mariska Hargitay, pre-SVU. It's an L&O world. We just live in it.

Hee! Idiotboy, you've got to see Burnzby's Last Call, with Noth and McCormick as Logan and Olivet gone wrong--they play this grifter couple--you can speed through most of the movie to see them curse like Eddie Murphy. Too. Fun.

For some reason whenever I used to see the name Olivet in former L&O threads, I used to think people actually meant Olivia from SVU and just spelled it wrong until I would read the post and figure out who the person was talking about. Don't ask me why, but it still happens to me. Go figure.

Love Olivet! Tonight my SVU rerun was "Abuse" wherein Olivia and Liz go for drinks, maybe even...One Drink? HoYay! in spades. She also lit up with Jack, imo. Shrink me please!

I just noticed that Ironbone has struck again with his repeat-offender naming technique: Liz Olivet and Liz Donnelly? ugh. As with the Alex Cabot and Alex Mothership thing, the comparison does not really benefit the second string. I know it happens often enough in the real world, but he actually chooses to go this route. I shake my head in your direction, Ironbone, stop the madness.

Part of the fun of TWoP is seeing how differently we "read" things. Maybe I wasn't looking in the right places but I never caught a whiff of Olivet/McCoy chemistry. Quite the opposite: She always seemed to make him cranky, maybe because she wouldn't bring him the diagnosis he wanted. Skoda was much more obliging in that respect. But Jack was forever getting all McGrumpy on Liz. Maybe he was sore because she was still carrying a torch for Ben Stone. (C. McMormick says that's the case, although that doesn't quite make it canon.)

I'm still waiting for the addition of the L&O Phrenologist, following Schiff's suggestion in one episode. Marty Feldman would be perfect for the part. Oh, wait. Scratch that.

My biggest surprise was finding out that Dr. Skoda and Spider-man's J. Jonah Jamison were the same actor. My mind, she is blown.

Of course, now I yell "Parker!" when Dr. Skoda makes his first appearance of the show. It's just something I have to do.

I love Skoda, I have to agree with the some of the other quotes. He is hot and sexy in a he knows everything about you and is actually in your head way. If that makes any sense. The last year or two I haven't watched as regually as I watched before. But I haven't seen either in a long time. Or am I just missing all the crazy defendents.

If you are looking for further expansion, check him out as a predatory White Supremacist in Oz, or even a guy with tits in Nip/Tuck, or beleaguered father in Without a Trace. JK Simmons can do it all, the man kicks ass! Watching him go from Vern to Skoda, like seeing Meloni go from Keller to Stabler, is nothing short of incredible.

Are you serious? Now I'm going to expect the yellow M&M to assess the mental stability of the other M&Ms whenever I see those commercials. Actually, thinking that way could make those commercials so much more interesting.

Ah, Yellow, you sweet chocolate fellow. J. K. can do no wrong where I'm concerned. I loved the ep in which he summed up one perp with the line "She's just an amoral bitch," or words to that effect. Misternell and I gasped and then applauded. His deadpan expression was just the icing. Skoda!

The ep they showed on TNT last night at 7pm (sorry, I'm terrible with L & O titles) about Olivet getting raped by her gynecologist actually managed to surprise me with the infamous "twist" they're always bragging about. Granted, I most of my shock was "Oh, Dr. Olivet how could you be so incredibly stupid as to go get examined by a guy you believed to be a molester/rapist?" Normally Olivet seems so much more sensible than that. It's also weird that in the SVU eps she's in there doesn't seem to be any fallout. In some ways it's nice to have her not Take! It!Personally! but especially considering Cragen knows about it I'm surprised it hasn't come up. Or maybe it has and I just didn't recognize it as such when I saw it because I hadn't seen this Mothership ep yet and I'm just rambling needlessly.

My mother always calls Olivet "Minuet" after the character she played on a second season episode of ST: TNG (she was a hologram that Riker falls in love with...long story). Anyway, now I've started doing it. Just one more sign that I am, in fact, turning into my mother.

There is an episode, but I don't know whether it's Mothership or SVU, where she's testifying in a rape case, and in cross-ex the opposing counsel suggests that her professional opinion might be colored by her having been raped herself. Can anybody give more details? I know I've seen it more than once...

Glad to know I've got a little company in my Skodalust! Every day I walk by a wall plastered with posters for The Closer, and every day I say, "Skoda!" (Apparently there are other actors on the poster, too. I haven't noticed.) My favorite unexpected JK Simmons sighting (though I didn't know about the M&M ads!) was on an episode of Arrested Development this season.

The only example I can think of where her rape came up in trial (besides the trial of her doctor, of course) is in "Point of View" from Season 3, where the two cops disagree about what they saw in front of the bar on patrol when the man and woman were talking, and the woman ends up killing the man and claims self-defense. Lainie Stieglitz doesn't bring up Olivet's rape on direct, but Ben does on cross.

That's the one! Thanks, camanda. I've seen that one twice, once before I saw the actual Pervy Gyno episode, and once after. And since I'm a very casual Mothership viewer, I guess I just assume anything I've seen multiple times must have been on SVU.
