Shrinks! Olivet and Skoda

Do you like the ever lovely Liz Olivet, with her sparks with Logan and Stone, her husky voice, pure velvet over steel?
Or is it the ever bald, ever snarky Emile Skoda, with the smart remarks and the scoffing? (not to mention his appearances EVERYWHERE).
Or do you like them both screaming theories at each other, in that MarthaStewartRFTH ep from season 14?
Represent!

They also did that in "Killerz" from season 10. And that gimmick was the ONLY thing that redeemed the excerable Martha Stewart episode.

As an SVUophile, I have to ask, why can't we get more Skoda and less Huang?

Preach, culturevulture73! I am Olivet's slave, hanging on every velvet-wrapped syllable she utters. When I have migraines, I want her to place cold compresses on my brow, hold my hand and talk to me in that "You poor thing" tone of which she is the sovereign.Do you like the ever lovely Liz Olivet, with her sparks with Logan and Stone, her husky voice, pure velvet over steel?
During one of her absences from L&O, E.O. turned up as the estranged wife on the short-lived American version of Cracker, starring Robert Pastorelli as a poor substitute for Robbie Coltrane. One of the guest stars on same was a certain Mariska Hargitay, pre-SVU. It's an L&O world. We just live in it.

Hee! Idiotboy, you've got to see Burnzby's Last Call, with Noth and McCormick as Logan and Olivet gone wrong--they play this grifter couple--you can speed through most of the movie to see them curse like Eddie Murphy. Too. Fun.

Love Olivet! Tonight my SVU rerun was "Abuse" wherein Olivia and Liz go for drinks, maybe even...One Drink? HoYay! in spades. She also lit up with Jack, imo. Shrink me please!Do you like the ever lovely Liz Olivet, with her sparks with Logan and Stone, her husky voice, pure velvet over steel?
I just noticed that Ironbone has struck again with his repeat-offender naming technique: Liz Olivet and Liz Donnelly? ugh. As with the Alex Cabot and Alex Mothership thing, the comparison does not really benefit the second string. I know it happens often enough in the real world, but he actually chooses to go this route. I shake my head in your direction, Ironbone, stop the madness.

Part of the fun of TWoP is seeing how differently we "read" things. Maybe I wasn't looking in the right places but I never caught a whiff of Olivet/McCoy chemistry. Quite the opposite: She always seemed to make him cranky, maybe because she wouldn't bring him the diagnosis he wanted. Skoda was much more obliging in that respect. But Jack was forever getting all McGrumpy on Liz. Maybe he was sore because she was still carrying a torch for Ben Stone. (C. McMormick says that's the case, although that doesn't quite make it canon.)She also lit up with Jack, imo

Of course, now I yell "Parker!" when Dr. Skoda makes his first appearance of the show. It's just something I have to do.

If you are looking for further expansion, check him out as a predatory White Supremacist in Oz, or even a guy with tits in Nip/Tuck, or beleaguered father in Without a Trace. JK Simmons can do it all, the man kicks ass! Watching him go from Vern to Skoda, like seeing Meloni go from Keller to Stabler, is nothing short of incredible. My biggest surprise was finding out that Dr. Skoda and Spider-man's J. Jonah Jamison were the same actor. My mind, she is blown.

Are you serious? Now I'm going to expect the yellow M&M to assess the mental stability of the other M&Ms whenever I see those commercials. Actually, thinking that way could make those commercials so much more interesting.

It's also weird that in the SVU eps she's in there doesn't seem to be any fallout. [snip] Or maybe it has and I just didn't recognize it as such when I saw it because I hadn't seen this Mothership ep yet and I'm just rambling needlessly.
There is an episode, but I don't know whether it's Mothership or SVU, where she's testifying in a rape case, and in cross-ex the opposing counsel suggests that her professional opinion might be colored by her having been raped herself. Can anybody give more details? I know I've seen it more than once...
Glad to know I've got a little company in my Skodalust! Every day I walk by a wall plastered with posters for The Closer, and every day I say, "Skoda!" (Apparently there are other actors on the poster, too. I haven't noticed.) My favorite unexpected JK Simmons sighting (though I didn't know about the M&M ads!) was on an episode of Arrested Development this season.

The only example I can think of where her rape came up in trial (besides the trial of her doctor, of course) is in "Point of View" from Season 3, where the two cops disagree about what they saw in front of the bar on patrol when the man and woman were talking, and the woman ends up killing the man and claims self-defense. Lainie Stieglitz doesn't bring up Olivet's rape on direct, but Ben does on cross.
