Take a picture of this, you total ringer.

Let me be the first to congratulate you on being in the final four.

And let me also revise that to Final Two, now that you've Andy Dicked Jessica out the way.

Thanks to a bunch of people, most notably Yes I am a, Purplish and happycamper, for this thread title.

You guys went all gestalt on me! It's confusing! I'm only a Ukrainian immigrant with a hole in my...I've said too much.

I basically agree...but I dunno....she's another total sweetheart, and she has the vocal chops...but I'd like to see how she handles some of the different styles first before I give her Top Four.

With that being said...it would surprise me not at ALL if it DID happen.

I hate her. HATE HATE HATE HATE her.

Her bio is the most vomitous pile of utter awfulness. My mommie. I have never faced an obstacle. I can't buy underwear (WTF!?!). She is not just a PPP, she is the PPQ. I feel a Carmen-sized hatred with a thousand fiery nuns backing it up. And she will never be off my TV because she has been wholly and fully shoved down crazy America's throat with a great big farm sized cow inseminating syringe.

I don't know, I found this:

Most embarrassing moment?
The whole Ryan "stars" comment.

... to have taken a bit of the edge off the bumpkin schtick that they're trying to shove down our throats. It shows a little self-awareness, and I like to see that in people.

No hate at this point. Simply curiosity to see how she does.

Vocally, I mean. I suspect Jacob's right about her prospects.

Edited to clarify.

Yessiree Bob my favorite part of these vapid bios are the questions they don't put answers for and end up as N/A's. Now, I know they mean "No Answer" or "Not Answered" but I can't help but think "Not Applicable" which just always makes it funny in my own little personal in-joke way I guess.

Carrie's best is that she's got the N/A for "Proudest Moment in Life So Far". Bwah!! Oh you're an exciting one aincha?? Deergahd she should get together with her blonde-n-boring male counterpart Fedorov and have the worlds most beautiful and boring brood of babies. As they were leaving THE CHAIR I heard some color patchwork job that maintenance had finished just prior to the show call out derisively to them "Even I'm more interesting than you!!!"

Who is your favorite judge and why?
Randy. He called me "dawg".

Oh yeah... 'cause he doesn't just throw that "dawg" designation around lighty; if Randy calls you 'dawg' you know you're amongst an elite group of special people.

I don't hate her I just find her highly annoying and she's quickly sliding right into Caaaarmen territory here... given she'll be around forevah I'm dreading it.

But really Adetunji don't hold back; you can tell us how your really feel no need to dance around the topic. Heh.

This girl is the most beautiful reality show contestant I have ever seen. I am old enough to be her much older brother, but man is she gorgeous. And I love her voice too, so unless she eats babies raw, it will be hard for me not to love her until the very end.

But what really bugs is her whole "I'm just a simple country girl" image. Please.

But what if she is? Simple country girls are out there. Scott Savol is definitly a simply country boy, he's just not as hot as Carrie is. To me the thing that is most manipulated by the judges is the creation of "characters" on this show. If Carrie Underwood is a simple farm girl she probably has a whole lot of intelligence about farming that doesn't translate onto the show (I sure as hell can't milk a cow and couldn't tell you a damn thing about crop rotation). Instead the producers have identified her as pretty, blonde and thusly, stupid. That bugs me. Her voice is pretty astounding and until they show footage of her being unable to turn on a lightswitch, I'm gonna resist the shows attempts to make me think she's an idiot.

I'm not buying it. Just because one is from a small town in a rural state doesn't mean you're COMPLETELY out of touch, but the way they paint her, she looks like she's never even seen a TV, much less been on one. Small towns have the Internet. Small towns have MTV. Small towns have satellite. She's a 21-year-old blonde American with a friggin' cell phone: how "out-of-touch" with popular culture can she be? If she was so clueless, how did she find out about American Idol, much less become a contestant?

Not to mention, if someone is smiling when the say "Girl, you knocked it out tha box!", then it's safe to assume it's a compliment. Going around and asking people "was that a compliment?" is like holding up a sign that says "Look At Me! I'm From A Small Town!". She's completely phony.

Hate. Her.

If I was a young semi-finalist on American Idol and had been obviously but incomprehensibly praised by Randy (wouldn't be the first time, dawg), I'd have smiled , said "thank you", and then in private asked someone "what the heck did that mean?". I would not have done my best to look like a dumb blonde in front of a camera rolling tape (cause even hicks know what a camera is).

I don't think she's gorgeous or an astounding singer. She's pretty rather than beautiful and a good singer rather than a great singer. I'm sure she'll still make the finals anyway, propelled by the same people who voted for Carmen - red staters who like her because she's "wholesome."

I feel the same. I can SO see her being this season's Carmen. Cute blonde, but not as talented as others in the competition. She'll be pimped, but of course she won't win. She sings better than Carmen, of course, but that's not really saying anything. She totally underwhelms me. She may be nice, but already the pimping has turned me off her.

American Idol picks top 24

Carrie Underwood, 21, Checotah, Okla. A college senior, she plays guitar and piano and rescues stray animals.

Word. She dresses in far too much American Eagle for someone who's "never been off the farm".

Dammit, happycamper, you owe me a new laptop! It doesn't like Diet Pepsi in its working parts.

She is the defintion of "affected" with that country bumpkin schtick. There truly cannot be someone that clueless out there.

And from this guy:

She already has "Idol" message boards abuzz - and even has her own Internet fan club, dubbed "The Care Bears."
<snip>
And she's no stranger to performing, winning a talent competition and finishing as first runner-up in the 2003 Miss NSU contest, according to local newspaper accounts.

First, the "Care Bears"? Barf. That makes "Claymates" sound like genius. Second, she better hope that TPTB don't play up her performance past, since its worked so well for DeGarmo.

Exactly.

And she's beautiful. I usually root for the men in these competitions out of spite for the cookie cutter woman (Kelly Clarkson and Ryan Starr--shut up--being two exceptions), but I'd be more inclined to root for her if they went lighter on the gimmick.

I hate her almost much as I hate Mario Guarini. She can sing but so what??? She looks like Reese Witherspoon. So what??? She's just very bland to me. I don't care about pimping as long as it's justified, but she don't justify all she's been getting.

Wow, I'm surpised they are using such a damn unflattering and just plain bizarre looking photo on the frontpage of her forum...

even has her own Internet fan club, dubbed "The Care Bears."

She also has a Yahoo Groups site called NaturalWonder Carrie Underwood

Yup, it's official, I've thrown up in my mouth far too many times this week.

If you're wondering about who her fanbase will be look at that carriefans.com page, links to two Diana sites and one to "Awesome Mandy Moore Fan Club". With contestants skewing older this year that may be a big factor. Meekalah may be the youngest but she doesn't have anything near a 'young teen' look. Welcome to the final 12 kiddo.

Reese Witherspoon just called and wants you to take that back!

I liked her during her first audition but now it's just HATE. The whole act is just insulting our intelligence and that's what annoys me the most.
Take your pictures, go back to the farm and please don't ever talk about your underwear again. Urg, just don't.

I don't like her. She bores me and her personality strikes me as being fake. She seems a little scary to me also. Like, one of those people who seem really passive and innocent, but will stab you in the back when the right opportunity arises. And, she's more intelligent than she's letting on, and those kind of people frighten me a bit.

I like her voice, but not so much with the "fell off the turnip truck" schtick. She supposedly has all this performing experience, so why hide it? The producers could really be screwing her over with the way they're pimping and editing her. Unless they're going for some big reveal when she suddenly shows that she commands the stage or something.

If she's going the Jessica Simpson route, I just hope that she has someone with Joe Simpson's management skills advising her, minus the extreme daddie (tm Carrie)-daughter creepiness.

This morning my husband watched the tape of this week's AI, while I lounged in bed. I couldn't see the TV; I could only hear it. Out of all the final performances shown on Tuesday, hers was the one of the strongest. It sounded great. She didin't do mind numbing vocal runs like too many performers chose to do. When she sang you could hear the melody of the song. She made me want to listen to her more.

I know there are simple country girls out there. But Carrie is a semi professional singer. She has been out there performing. She and the producers are making it seem like the only audience she's ever had to sing in front of are the farm animals, like Fern in Charlotte's Web or something.
