I have a sneaking admiration for a mind that can think up Twinkie Sushi.

SLop will totally be making the Ding Dong Mousse - it's 6 Ding Dongs, a 16 oz. package of whipped cream (I'm guessing they mean CoolWhip), a package of chocolate fudge instant pudding and chocolate sprinkles.

ETA: Oh, even better - Ho Ho Pudding! The ingredients: 1 box of Ho Hos, 2 pkgs chocolate pudding mix, 4 cups milk and 1 large tub whipped topping

Ray Ray did a candy sushi thing not too long ago. Those looked a little better than hers.

I was so excited when I opened my mailbox today and saw that my TWoP shirt had arrived! I felt like a kid on Christmas! The funny thing is, it makes my boobs look like SLop's pudding cups. I know my hubby is going to say something when he sees me.
I ordered this one.

I just realized that my birthday falls on Saturday next month, so I'll probably be treated to a new episode of SLop as an extra-special gift.

Tell me again how happy that makes me... [/Marvin the Paranoid Android]

I actually thought that Ray Ray's candy sushi didn't look too bad...especially compared to You Know Who.

Alton Brown is going to be at my local independent bookstore on Thursday evening. I think I might ask if he, as Iron Chef America commentator, could fix things so Snadra could be on as a challenger. Against Mario, I think, and with the panel of judges we've offered on assorted SLop threads! He never has a bad word to say against his fellow FN hosts - here's hoping his politeness is switched off re:SLop.

I am sitting here very jealous of InnerCanuck, I love AB!! I would think as serious as he is about food he would be anti-SLop.

I hope he is! Lucygirl, if you've got a particular question for him, I could try to ask it & report back (made the same offer over on the GE thread, too) Last time he was there, he was great. I took extensive notes...hmmm, wonder if I should ask him to autograph my first & new editions of On Food and Cooking, one of his great influences...

InnerCanuck, I'm jealous too! Unfortunately I'm currently in Canada so I guess he won't be visiting any local stores.

I would love to know how he feels about being on two programs on a network that is proud to broadcast Snadra's nonsense. I'm sure he'd just give a nice run-around answer though, so don't waste your question time on that! But if you happen to run into him at a bar/pub later, please ply him with drinks and try to find out... I'll repay you for the booze!

I've got a recipe for fruit sushi around here somewhere - found some on the web, but they aren't quite the same. Mine has rice flavored with coconut milk, with fruit slices on top - the web ones include pudding and other stuff.

I'm excited! I just got a message that my 6 qt. roaster has shipped from Amazon. Here's the description:

Nesco's 6-quart roaster oven roasts, steams, poaches, and even bakes all varieties of meat, poultry, seafood, and vegetables. Its extra-high domed cover seals in moisture and assists in self-basting. Heat is controlled by a dial on the front and can be set according to temperature (150 to 450 degrees) or cooking style (slow cook, cook, roast, bake, or steam).

I can't wait to start using it.

I was flipping through the latest issue of Martha Stewart Living and would you believe they have a feature on using upside down SHORT STEM water glasses on your table as candleholders!!!! SLop is disease spreading through the land. Let's turn over the water glass and use it as a candle holder, WTF! (At least the editorial staff did caution against using a long stemmed glass because of the wobble factor, jeez.)

Man, I hope they let Martha out of prison soon. Reeeeeeeeeal soon. If not, I fear teacup/saucer cake stands will be next. Free Martha, if only for the sake of preventing the spread of SLop.

Where did you go, Martha Stewart/
A lonely nation turns its eyes to you/
Woohooohoooo
(apologies Simon & Garfunkel)

Over dinner with a friend the other night, she was trying to decide if she should get rid of her sundae glasses or not. I refraned from suggesting she turn them over, pop a saucer on top to make a stunning presentation for desserts...

However, we did discuss having a SLop/MST3K party to celebrate our upcoming birthdays!

I sold the 5th Dimension donuts once. During college I worked at Dunkin Donuts in Hyannis, MA. one summer. I worked from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and we would get quite the clientele in the wee hours of the morning. John John Kennedy, who was about 14 or 15 at the time, use to come in too. I had another friend who worked the same shift at HoJo's and on occasion we'd start cracking beers at 7:00 and be quite tippy by noon. Fun times. Hey, it was the mid seventies. Rules were different back then.

Hah! It was -12(F) when I got out of my car for work this morning in Michigan.

That's just wrong.

And, because of the lack of wind and the cold, smells are just hanging around. There's a field I drive by on my way to work - well, there must have been sulfur in that field becuase I was gagging for 5 minutes. I've mentioned I'm pregnant...yeah, I'm not feeling so well right now. And all I could think of was the poached eggs SLop made a couple of weeks ago...

That sounds like a line from a T.S. Eliot poem or something. Do I dare to eat an eclair? Shall I walk beside the fryer?

John John Kennedy, who was about 14 or 15 at the time, use to come in too.

*Sigh* I saw him in front of the building where I work in downtown Manhattan just a couple of weeks before he was killed. Still wearing a brace on his arm, shorts and a backwards baseball cap, buying a cup of coffee from the same cart I get mine from. He was so handsome....*sniff* Poor Caroline.

Hello, New Jersey. 4 degrees below zero.

-5 with the wind chill in NYC. But I guess the Left-Mitten-Shaped State has us beat.

HEE!

OK, I saw Alton Brown last evening, and Snadra's name came up. The question was asked about his "Myth Smashers" show, and the old saw about "sealing in meat juices by searing"... He said it still came up in cookbooks and on cooking shows, but certainly not (he hoped) on FN shows. Out loud (and I surprised myself!) I said, "Oh yes, it does!"

AB: "Which one?"

Me: "The excrable Sandra Lee's so-called cooking show!" From behind me a voice shouts, "She's an IDIOT!" (I think I want to marry that guy!)

AB: "Excrable? I don't know that word...does that mean what I think it does?! Like 'excrament'?!"

Me: "Uh-huh! You get a gold star. She's dreadful!!!"

Mission accomplished. ;D

Excellent work, InnerCanuck. Another agent reports in in our nationwide stealth campaign to destroy SLop (with help from another anonymous member of the AB audience)!

IC is joined by all TWoPpers who have moved SLop cookbooks to other parts of the store (includes bbcookin and PornQueen, excuse me if I've forgotten anyone else); The Lifestylist, who attended a SLop "cooking" demonstration last night at an Oklahoma City heart hospital (see debriefing on Sandra Lee in the Media thread), as well as those who wrote emails to same hospital complaining about the Twilight-Zone quality of SLop advising anyone on healthy cooking; and all those posting snarky reviews on the FN site and elsewhere.

I wonder if we need a new thread for this topic? Titled, Nationwide Stealth Campaign to Destroy SLop. Or is there a lawsuit in there waiting to happen?

Wow! Good job, IC!! That must have been so much fun to see him, I read your comments on the GE thread. I'd love to see him in person. I almost went to see Rachael Ray, but I knew it would be mobbed, and it was my lunch hour, so I didn't. Looking back I wish I had gone just to spy and see what she looks like IRL.

You and Lifestylist get major props today for your strong work!!

Who will volunteer to be on Emeril Live wearing a t-shirt with Sandy's likeness with a red circle and slash through it?

And too bad Cooking Live isn't still on ... we could have "exremated" SLoP while cooking along with Sara!

Shnuglet ... I saw JJ a few times at Walkers, as he lived just a few doors down. And once at Balthezar.
