Here, you can post about the cast members (or the show in general) regarding their appearances in magazines, talk shows, etc. This is not a thread for posting about the cast members in other roles on a different television series.

From the old Desperate Housewives thread, posted by Miss Kubelik:

Desperate Housewives is on the cover of this week's Entertainment Weekly as one of the fall's five hottest shows. Inside, there's a bit of a blurb. If you don't want to be spoiled, just skim it. However, it make me thing of one thing: why did Mary Alice hide the letter in her clothes if she didn't want anyone to find it? I mean, something as incriminating as that letter, wouldn't you burn it or swallow it or flush down the toilet or shred it or anything to destroy it? Why keep it, especially if you plan on killing yourself later that day and people will sadly, inevitably sort through your stuff?

Unless she wanted someone to find it...

And baby8love:

Ooh...and the plot thickens! :)

In the Oct. 8 issue of EW, they have a bit on the show in the Style Sheet column. It briefly describes how great suburbia fashion looks on TV.

Discuss.

An interesting article on Slate. One of the more intriguing points it raises is how DH is part of a wave of 50s-ish nostalgia films when it comes to portrayals of women (i.e. Stepford Wives remake).

Good Morning America is having a "Desperate Housewives" fashion show on Wednesday, 10/13 at 7 a.m. I have no idea if that means the cast will be modeling clothes (which would be great research for Eva since Gaby is a former model) or there will be clothes in the style of the DH characters. Also, here's a slightly older article from Zap2It.

This article isn't exactly media, but it's relevant to the show, and frankly it's prescience is downright creepy. What's especially striking (besides the fact that history has now vindicated Cross) was how accurate Wing Chun's predictions were, even including Marcia's inevitable stint on Everwood. Also, the article was written on October 8, 2002. Like I said, creepy.

Wow, that is creepy. And Cross did make it to Everwood, just as Wing Chun thought...not as a sister, but she did hook up with Treat! Awesome.

I love how the media jumps on the bandwagon as soon as the awesome ratings come in. EW covers, Oprah appearances, being featured every night on ET and AH. I smell a Time cover coming up discussing the show and real-life suburban moms.

Speaking of EW, I love how the shows they pick as "Best New Comedy" and "Best New Drama" almost always, invariably and without mercy, tank.

Anyway, their Fall Preview piece on DH made me intrigued.

I am soo happy that they are dedicating a whole show to this new amazing hit! I can't wait to see them talk about it as well as interact!
I might even tape it! WOO HOO!

God, I hope not. I'd much rather see the Strong. Less plastic surgery gone wrong, for one thing.

I found this over at TV Tome....

Housewives Visit Oprah

The five lead female cast members of Desperate Housewives (Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria, Marcia Cross and Nicolette Sheridan) will appear on Oprah on Friday, October 15 to discuss the new series and its recent success. Check your local listings.

Ok..so now it is confirmed that the 5th gal will be NS as Edie Britt, not the Mary Alice gal.
Can't wait til Friday!

Yeah, some of the show's "4 Heads" logo now has "5 heads," including Nicolette.

ETA: I might have been smoking crack about that, b/c can't locate it now.

Word. If NS is a lead, shouldn't BS be too? IMO, they both have the same amount of dialogue. The only difference is NS gets face time but it's not BS's fault that her character died in the first episode. If anything, the fact that her character narrates the whole show should count for something.

EW has the scoop from Marc Cherry on what's coming up next. Mild spoilers ahead.

"Gabrielle's affair will have hilarious and tragic consequences. Bree's husband will attempt to leave his family, only to be drawn back by a tragic accident. Susan will continue to make a fool out of herself. Lyneete will get hooked on her children's ADD medication. All of them will start to uncover the dark secret Mary Alice's husband and son are covering up. That father-son relationship will be revealed to be very creepy."

Alas, I know no details. I'm just going on how someone in the old folder said that they'd heard the actors were very competitive on the set, and that each was dying to become the "breakout star".

Oh.. Ok. Well..good I hope each one tries to out act the next cause so far they are all doing a fabulous job. My guess on the breakout star? Eva Langoria b/c out of the other 4 gals, she hasn't had the luxury of being a household name to non soapies and has the most room to move up as well as the acting chops to do it.
Also, I think that this show will be known as TH's comeback.

ITA. And I'm not sure if I'm willing to believe the gossip about the backstage fighting yet. None of the actresses involved seem like the catty type. Of course, they're all actresses, so who knows?

I hope the actresses don't have on-set fights. That always disappoints me.

I'm disappointed Brenda Strong isn't going to be on, too. That would've been so much better. Maybe she'll be there in spirit, though.

Sorry that this is too late for the east coast but Teri Hatcher is on the Howard Stern show on E! tonight and will be plugging Desperate Housewives, assuming she gets a chance. I guess you are going to have to ask yourselves, "How much do I really like this show?"
