Yeah, we've tried it before.
Any takers this time?

ETA: OK, I'll be the first to suggest a place, if that helps people. How about the good old standby, The Spectrum (even though parking is ass)?

I'd be up for something at the Spectrum (and you are soooo right about the parking!). Dave & Buster's?

Hee! I know they are putting in a parking garage in the area closest to the movie theater, but still. It has never been great- ever. (I've been going there since 1997?) I'm glad you responded! Maybe we can get other people to go too, and pick a night when there's a show on we can all agree upon. I thought more L.A. people would want to head this way?

Everytime I've gone to the Spectrum, I've parked at those office buildings across the street from the Cheesecake Factory. Tons of spots, just have to cross the street.

Anywho, I'm from LA and the boyfriend is from San Diego, so an Orange County con works for us!

Thanks for the tip! There was a time where valet parking hijacked that entire area (or most of it) so I haven't attempted to park there in a long time. I did, however, manage to get on a shuttle that I had no idea would not be stopping at the actual complex itself, but at employee parking (it was a Tuesday).

Oooh, nice parking tip! I usually wind up on the roof of the parking structure (and before that, out in Section BFE of the parking lot).

I'm up for D&B, but if we want to grab a bite to eat, we could do anything else that's in there (Thaifoon's good, but a bit pricey at times, or the food court for the cheap-and-sleazy method of getting food), beyond D&B (I hate their food). Just my 2 cents.

I only suggested D&B because I thought they would have a TV (I've only ever been to one D&B's and it was about 5 years ago). Anyplace else folks want to eat is fine with me.

And I think they put in a gate to keep Spectrum-goers from parking in the office building's lot.

Another parking tip: on Friday and Saturday nights, there's usually ample parking around the area where the shuttle picks people up waaay the heck out there(last time, I parked near Robinsons May). More fun than walking and it's free! Last week when I was at the Yard House, they were watching football on the TVs there. I don't know how they'd feel about some people hijacking their TV. CF doesn't really have anywhere to sit and watch, and i'm not sure about some of the newer places. Does anyone know of anything other than D&B?

ETA does anyone want to talk dates? May I suggest a couple of weeks from now, or later?

That's where I usually park. But aren't they making it more valet these days?

If I may interject here...Spectrum is fine and dandy (sucky parking notwithstanding), but how about Fashion Island in Newport Beach? There are many places to eat/gather and parking isn't any worse.

Just a thought.

That would be great as well! I was wondering if there were other places we all could meet. El Torito Grill at FI perhaps would be a good idea, or there's this irish pub- i forget the name. Either way, somewhere with at TV (lots and lots of TVs?).

Do we have a target date? A show we can all snark on?

#16

Possible snarky shows are:

America's Next Top Model
Amazing Race 6
The O.C.
The Bachelor
Queer Eye
Survivor

I'm out of ideas...I'm a big Joan of Arcadia fan, but there's less to snark on in that show in my opinion.

Any other ideas? Once we get a show (therefore a day of the week) nailed down and a location, we can start talking about dates.

I've never watched any of the Bachelor/ette shows, but I'm on board with all the others you mentioned. And/or The OC, The Apprentice.

Of the shows listed, I've only watched Queer Eye and the first couple seasons of Survivor.

Though I've never watched the Bachelor/ette shows either, I'm a fan of candid reality. I can start watching The Apprentice if that's the popular vote.

My preferences in order are:

Amazing Race (premieres Nov. 6th)
Survivor
ANTM/Apprentice (tie)
Queer Eye/Bachelor(ette) (another tie)
The O.C.

Hey folks! I just got the head's up from purplefishy so definitely count me in. All the shows suggested so far work for me. ANTM would be my top choice, but only because I can't get enough of the whole "Tyra is a man", "Tyra is a hologram", "Tyra is not of planet Earth" snarking.

Also, the Spectrum would be cool. My only input on that would be to avoid Monday nights because of the football crowds.

Hee! Spread the gospel of OC TWoPCon! Guests readily welcome.

Thanks for the pointer about Monday night Spectrum madness. Goes without saying I guess.

I'm starting to like the FI idea better. Anyone else in agreement? Are there any other places outside the shopping mall/outdoor mall circuit we could try to invade?

Lots of pizza places have TVs and could accommodate a group.

TAR6 premiere would be awesome! (I'd have to be a good girl, though, because I have to get up waaaaaay early the next morning for a charity walk).

Jess, we can recruit you into the cult of TAR.... Repeat after me: "Mmmmmmmmmmm, Phil" "That's Namibia, Jackass!" "My ox is broken"

If we go for that option, I nominate the BJ's in Irvine Marketplace and I will hopefully have my "My Ox Is Broken" t-shirt to wear by that time depending on when Glark ships them.

ETA: T-shirts aren't shipping until November 30th so never mind. I will wear my awesome Broken Ox Random Thingee that is already here.

We'll be up for the TAR premiere, unless it interferes w/impending plans, as it is boyfriendofsarcasmdetected's (lurker elfstar) birthday weekend.

Ooh, I'm totally up for a TAR premiere party! And if FI is an easier shot, I'd say we should go with that, just because of the parking issue with Irvine Spectrum that I always run into (though that may just be me)

It's not just you, RedBearDave. I vote for avoiding the Spectrum pretty much only because of the parking issues.

And sarcasmdetected, what better way is there to celebrate a birthday than at a TWoP TAR premiere party? As Phil would say, don't waste the opportunity! :-)

Let me know where and you can count me and my boyfriend, who just moved to Irvine, in for a TAR premiere! I'm down there most weekends anyway and missed TARcon West in spite of helping to get the location and would like to make it to a TWOPcon.

I didn't mean for this to become exclusively TARCon territory, so on that note i'd be willing to watch other programs as well- just speak up if there's anything about a TARCon that you'd object to!

My only problem with other programs is that they air on weekdays and I'm only down in OC on weekends. The commute to UCLA from Irvine is just too far for me.
