I am excited about this show. Why does that make me feel dirty?

I like it and will probably keep watching it since it doesn't really conflict with any of my appointment viewings.Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell) used to be the popular girl with the cool friends and the jock boyfriend. A series of personal and family traumas have made her a sarcastic outcast. Now, instead of going to pep rallies, she helps her private investigator father (Enrico Colantoni) dig into the lives of the rich and famous in the messed up town of Neptune, Calif.

Edit: I read another summary and it sounds a lot more interesting. Sarcastic girl - outcast - I love those type of characters.

I'm anxious to see it because I do want to see how it compares to Smallville's Chloe. Unfortunately, with the show premiering on Sept. 22, I'll have to tape it because I'll be otherwise occupied with Smallville, and likely busy all night...

Fabrisse, that is cool about your sister, and I'm a little jealous. :) Hope she has a long run with Veronica!

Wasn't Kristin Bell in the Lifetime movie about the girl who raised her brothers and sisters after her druggie, flakey mom (played by Anne Heche - not exactly a stretch) skipped out?
Yes and let me just say that movie rocked. *ducks head and runs away in shame*

Either way, I've got my tickets for at least the premiere episode.

Kristen Bell is a good actress. I enjoyed her as Flora on Deadwood - pretty bad ass little chick.

*going to try real hard

After posting the above I checked out TVGal's latest at www.zap2it.com. In it she says "Keep an eye out for: Veronica Mars. I think it could do for UPN what Buffy did for the WB back in 1997".
I don't always agree with TVGal, but if she seriously thinks it could be anywhere near as good as BTVS in it's prime... (is there an emoticon for "bug-eyed"?)

I thought that was going to be one of the most rediculous, unrealistic show ideas ever. ( a live action version of a saturday morning cartoon type thing about a kid with a career living an adult life with no parents etc. arround.) And dismissed it imediately.
But, the detailed descriptions make more sense, and the reviews are good. I'll probably try it.
Predicting that if it's really, really brilliant AND continues get a lot of media "buzz" AND isn't in a bad timeslot AND UPN gives it time to catch on insteading rushing to the cancelation trigger, it might be the seasons surprise hit. Still sounds like a long shot though

I love sarcastic teenage girls with attitude, and it seems like this actress might be able to play the role well. Reminds me a little of Amber Tamblyn's Joan Gerardi...
...only without the relgious ickiness, one can hope.
TV needs more sarcastic outcasts. (I still miss the short-lived "MYOB".) And TV just wouldn't be TV if Enrico Coletani didn't have a series!

I agree w/curlyglink - I love sarcastic outcasts. The only one on TV at the moment (w/new episodes) is George on Dead Like Me and/or Claire on SFU. There was Jaye on Wonderfalls, but that's canceled. Those are always fun characters to watch.

Enrico Coletani is Elliot on Just Shoot Me, right?
Yep. And apparently tries to gnaw on scenery regularly. He was reasonably subdued in the pilot, so I hope that directors manage to put the kibosh on that tendency.
