They can't all be Hobbits, folks.

Hobbit? Who is this Hobbit you speak of? [ducking out of incoming fire] When I saw the commercials, my first thought was, "Oh no, Hetty Wainthrop's lost her associate Geoffrey!" That's how I first knew of Dominic anyhow, from the lovely PBS/Mystery! shows.

Seriously, the only reason I'm gonna even attempt watching this show is because of Dominic. Hopefully he'll get more screentime here than he did in LOTR.

Well, given that the number of main & recurring characters on this show appears to rival LOTR, I'm not counting on a whole lot more screen time for Merry!

Other than Dominic Monaghan, Matthew the big brother from Party of Five is the only name/face I recognize from somewhere else. He was cute then, he's cute now.

I've only just heard of Lost - my local paper had it as one of the top 5 shows to watch this season - so I had to look up who was in it. Much to my surprise, I know several apart from the Hobbit and the Fox.

Terry O'Quinn, who I've loved since Earth2, many will know as Kendall from Alias. Emilie de Ravin, Tess from Roswell, Daniel Dae Kim, Gavin from Angel, Harold Perrineau from two of the Matrix movies and a couple more I'm sure I know. Its going to be interesting seeing these usually secondary characters in such an ensemble cast. I hope it works.

I was wondering if that was Gavin when I saw the pictures. Yay for former angel actors getting work!

Terry O'Quinn also guest starred in a couple of episodes of The X-Files, back in the day (and had a role in Fight the Future), and had a recurring role in Millennium. Daniel Dae Kim was in the short-lived Babylon 5 spinoff Crusade (I'm trying to remember the role and coming up with... the ship's telepathic first officer, maybe?) Oh, and he also had a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo in Spiderman 2 this summer. Naveen Andrews is best known in the UK for the BBC drama "Buddha of Suburbia."

Dominic Monaghan is best known for his role in the BBC's comedy-drama "Hetty Wainthrop Investigates". Oh yes.

Ian Somerhalder was in Young Americans waaaay back. And I kinda remember him being in a Mastercard commercial where he was prince to a cinderella sort of character.

Charlie Salinger, Mercutio, and The Stepfather? Sounds interesting. And wasn't Naveen Andrews the Indian guy in The English Patient?

Are the ladies anyone we've heard of?

ETA:

Gavin…feh. I remember the first time he had a scene with Lilah (in That Vision-Thing) they had her meta-comment that he could never replace Lindsey, and you know what? Girl wasn't lying. DDK's a little too plastic for my taste.

Gavin was also in 24 as one of the background agents.

And he became known as "Hot Asian from Angel" in Gustave's recaps.

Terry O'Quinn played Moira Kelly's dad with Olympic expectations in The Cutting Edge.

Dominic Monaghan was a commentator on VH1's horrible I Love the 90s. Not horrible because of him, mind you. He was one of the bright spots.

Ian Somerhalder played Adam in a stint on Smallville last season.

Ian was also in LIfe as a House with Kevin Klein and Hayden Christiansen. He slept with his girlfriend's mother. But as he does everything, he did it hotly, so it was all good.

On the bright side, my Emilie de Raven signed publicity photo from Roswell Season 2 can be brought out of storage.

On the dark side, her character may be giving birth to evil spawn again.

*fingers are crossed this will turn out good*

Yes, Daniel Dae Kim was on Crusade ad the telepathic First Officer, but I can't for the life of me think of the character's name.

Definitely a good cast, but it'll be interesting to see how many people actually get more than 5 min. screentime per episode.

And who could forget hott sexy man dude Ian Sommerhaulder (aka Adam "No Realtion To the Dark" Knight) in Smallville and him telling Lana what viewers have been screaming at their tvs for the past 3 years? Oh how I loved him. And oh how I miss him. Which is basically the sole reason why I am tuning in. Now the only question is whether this show is a OC or a North Shore. (North Shore-not even Corey Sevier with no shirt could save that awful crapity crap. OC-came for the Adam Brody, stayed for the... everything.)

Naveen Andrews - totally delectable in The English Patient.

Also delectably slimy in the God awful remake of Roller Ball.

Emilie de Ravin I first saw on Beastmaster and then on Roswell.
Dominic Monaghan I know from Hetty Wainthrop and I've had a crush on him for the past six years or so. He's why I got in the Lotr movies as well as this show.
Harold I know first from Romeo + Juliet.
Daniel Dae Kim I see everywhere.

I've heard of Swiri.

DaMare -- If you want to see some hot Naveen Andrews, check out Kama Sutra, a somewhat sucky movie but Naveen is stunning. I also liked him on a short-lived ABC drama called The Beast, about a canble news network.

My head is still spinning from the notion of my beloved Verve meeting up with a hobbit, since YA is my favorite TV show of all time, and LotR is my favorite movie. It was weird enough when these two worlds collided the first time, when Orlando Bloom started dating Kate Bosworth. But you can't play the Kevin Bacon game with that, so Lost is, IMO, a gift from St. Claire.

Don't forget that Terry O'Quinn also starred in Blind Fury, which happens to be one of the greatest movies about a blind samurai that's played by Rutger Hauer that has EVER been made. Granted, there aren't many movies about a blind samurai that's played by Rutger Hauer, but even if there were, Blind Fury would be the best by far.

Technically this isn't a role but I thought Dominic Monaghan's rendition of the Hammer dance was one of the best things on "I Love the 90s".

Ian Somerhalder also appeared in L & O:SVU about a season or two ago. He played a homicidal maniac who beat his father and had sex with his brother. Quite a vomit-inducing episode.
