Patti is on right now with a beauty products show- she's hoarse! Earlier, during her 3pm walk-on Bob asked her if she was sick. She said she wasn't and she blamed it on a "football" game (wink, wink- yes she actually winked likes it's some big conspiracy). During this show, she mentioned her trip to LA. Madonna had a big concert in LA last weekend- I wonder if she attended? That would certainly explain her voice. I get the feeling that Patti's a big party animal now that she's got some self-confidence.

I wonder who she went with? It certainly wasn't Lisa R- she worked this weekend. Maybe it was her new husband?

Ooooo, maybe her potential new employer was 'swining and dining' her in an attempt to get her to accept the offer??? Just take it already sweetie and don't let the door kick you in the a$$ on the way out!

Saw Miss Jacque last night laughing her head off with the two goofy Lunch at the Ritz guys. She laughed so much that I wanted to tell her to get a grip.

I've thought to myself a lot lately that some of the hosts need to get a grip. I've even wondered if QVC has started letting them imbibe a little before each show just to help them get through. La was even more ridiculous with Leslie than she usually is--immature even, and Domeier (sp.?) is more insufferable than ever. On the positive side, their annoying me has me not watching, and if I'm not watching, I'm not buying.

So apparently Patti spent the weekend at Chaz Dean's house. She also mentioned she spent the day with Dara Lynn and her sister eating cupcakes...she's not going to maintain her weight shoving cupcakes down her throat. You can read all about it on Patti's site: http://www.pattireilly.net/live/ by clicking on her blog link.

So what's the verdict? Is Chaz gay, or is he taking the Tuna Boat to Patti's Tuna Town?

So what do you all think? Is she moving to work with someone in LA?

Also, she wrote in her blog that she and Chaz took 172 pictures over the weekend, but that she can only share 5 of them. QVC porn? I don't even want to know...

Very interesting link to Patti's blog thebarking cat. She was really doing some name dropping. I wouldn't think QVC would like that she's mentioning several of their vendors on her personal space. They don't allow hosts to post on the Q BB. She is certainly trying to suggest that she and Chaz took some funky photos. I didn't think he was into anything about women other than their hair. It'll be interesting to see where all this is going. It's certainly going somewhere.

Patti & Chaz Dean??

He's the greasy WEN-man, right?? She can totally have him. We're not surprised though, right? I mean think about it, she's just emulating her idol La. La hung out with Joan Rivers and probably got other offers from other vendors. PeePod is just doing the same thing.

ETA - just came back from reading PeePod's full account of her trip. That was a fun, get away from reality trip??? visiting all those vendors? Who is she kidding? Sounds more like a work trip to me - that way it gets paid for by the company. I'm sure every other host at QVC has done the same thing.

Name dropping is certainly what PeePod's website gallery is all about. The only thing with the names is if I had never watched QVC, I wouldn't know who the heck most of them were. Big Whoop.

What a self-centered, self-serving and ego-filled website that is. Me and Lisa Robertson. Me and Whoopie. Me and Leslie Blodgett. Me Me Me. Gag. Don't most people write things like "Grandpa and me" or "My better half and me"?

Good riddance to her. All of Lisa's monitor gazing doesn't equal half of the self-worship going on at Patti's website. Apparently she hasn't lost any fat - it all just drifted north into her big head/big ego.

Yuck.

Chaz Dean is the reason LaOrangeNoNose has limp greasy looking hair. She said she used his products last week. PattiPony also uses his products. Maybe they both share Chaz the Praying Mantis. That's what he reminds me of when he looks into the camera with his little beady eyes and puts his hands together and says "bless You".
Yes ,and bless you, Grasshopper!

Not sure why he or the dogs were on with them last night - but he seemed like a polite young man nonetheless.

QVC's promoting family in their promos to make us feel like they're part of OUR family. My guess is QVC wheeled out the KVZ/Makowsky family to make us think we know them so we'll buy more... they're family, you know. ::eyeroll:: They've got a new promo that's all about home and family and insinuating QVC is part of our family. Another they've been showing are the product vendors being asked what QVC products they give to their family and loved ones. That commercial doesn't influence me at all either. I just don't care that the Mr. Christmas lady gives a Valerie Parr Hill wreath to her friends. However, the Q-PTB are hypocrites. QVC drops its vendor/rep 'family' in a NY minute if they aren't making the money.

Saw Miss Jacque last night laughing her head off with the two goofy Lunch at the Ritz guys. She laughed so much that I wanted to tell her to get a grip.

That show was filled with fake enthusiasm for chunks of kitty cat shaped metal covered in epoxy enamel for a huge price. For these whimsical shows they really need to amp up the atmosphere so Jacque was loud and over-exuberant. She was trying way to hard with her 'we're really having so much fun really... really... and you can join our party by ordering something' selling shtick. I didn't stay for the whole show but Jacque started by telling us that everything had a clearance price because they had limited quantities and the guys were bringing in all new items for 2009. Hmm. Sounds more like they can't keep up their sales quota so they drastically reduced the prices to get sales. The Lunch at the Ritz 2Go guys are rarely on so QVC doesn't consider them top rung vendors. Looks more like they're being shown the door in a nice way. Guess they just aren't 'family' enough.

I remember when Cynthia Garrett was on and Carolyn Gracie told us that everything was on clearance for the same reasons. She was going to be bringing in 'all new' for 2008. I just looked on the Q and she's got 21 items listed as 'clearance' or 'as is price' to get rid of everything. There's only 1 item that isn't reduced. They can't build her inventory on 1 item. Oops, Cynthia... you should have sent QVC a huge Christmas card in the form of sales. Looks like you got kicked out of 'the Q family'.

Patti included a photo of her and Whoopi on her site. If she's really good friends with Whoopi she needs to spell her name correctly. It's not 'Whoopie' with an 'e'.

Another GPS system TSV? Well, at least this one is under $100. Which reminds me... Oscar was really busting Dan Hughs this morning when showing electronics. The item was a digital photo frame and Oscar said to Dan that he could upload his wedding photos of his 'um... first or... second, um... wedding'. It was an oh-no-you-didn't-just-say-that moment. Dan asked why he was giving him a hard time and joked that Oscar might not be back. It's item # E05567. I just looked it up to see it again, but that presentation has been replaced with a version done later in the day. It's David Venable and NO Oscar, but Paul Ar. It starts out David is apologizing to Oscar for a remark. Funny that Oscar isn't there. Did QVC just get rid of another one of their 'family'?

ETA: Oscar's still there. He was demo-ing the TSV for the last presentation today.

Go to any business site and check out the sales numbers for any retailer. It's a disaster. I have no sympathy for the hosts on the shopping channels, but it must be disturbing for them to see real-time that they are not making their sales numbers. Not even close. I read an article today that retailers are trying anything...ANYTHING...to get people into the stores to buy. I'm assuming we should expect the same from the channels in days/weeks to come, though apparently ShopNBC with their $1000 handbags remains oblivious...or maybe their audience is not reliant on home equity, credit, or company stock, all of which are in the tank for the majority of us who still actually have a job.

So what do you all think? Is she moving to work with someone in LA?

She won't have to move. She's probably getting a monetary kick back from all the people she mentions in her blog. Our clever little pony might have found a lucrative way to help her through these troubled economic times.

Speaking of retailers doing anything for our business, I got an email from the Q telling me I could get anything I wanted on 5 easy pays. I looked, but couldn't find one thing I really wanted or needed. I think I may finally be cured.

I'm cured. Years ago I had too much expendable resources, too much time free-time and bought all kinds of carp from QVC. I've been divorced for years and on now,and proudly on my own. I make a great living but refuse to reimburse a channel that is all about exploiting their viewers and ripping off good people. Yes, I still enjoy the guilty pleasure that is QVC but I NEVER buy. QVC is on it's way out, or else they have to seriously retool. Retail stores around the country are going belly-up or reporting huge losses. (Mervyns, Circuit City, etc.) QVC should be honest and open about our economy instead of hiding behind their talking points.

SunShine Gal, I wonder what the heck ever possessed Oscar to say such a thing? There's no way of knowing what goes on in the backrground that prompts some of the things we hear on air.

Retail stores around the country are going belly-up or reporting huge losses. (Mervyns, Circuit City, etc.)

SuziQue, it's such a shame about those businesses. Around here, family businesses that are 30 and 40 years old, car dealerships, etc. are closing their doors.

QVC should be honest and open about our economy instead of hiding behind their talking points.

I suspect they still sell hard because people still buy. Now, with Christmas and Hannukah coming next month, people need to buy gifts. They use plastic and it numbs them to the reality of what they're spending. I don't think it's a retailers responsibility to tell us about the economy. They've mentioned it a few times but only to make a selling point so whatever they say comes under criticism anyway. It's always been "Buyer beware" and the onus is always on us to monitor our own spending habits.

HSN's Suzanne Runyon's new haircut--it is ADORABLE and so fashion forward.

kimthib, I agree. I think it's the best I've ever seen her look.

SuziQue, I'm with you. I too am cured. I still, however, am addicted to watching for the snark value. But even when I do that, I can't bear to listen to the sales hype for very long.

I would think shopping channels are still the best place to buy gold due to the volume they can purchase, but that business has got to be eroding and won't change unless the price of gold comes down. Anything that looks reasonable in price/look, etc. winds up getting returned when you see it in person and it winds up being featherweight. It only took a couple of tries on my part to learn that lesson.

I agree binda, I got some really nice quality pieces of gold back in the day on the Q for half the price they're selling them for now, epecially bracelets and earrings. Even they're sterling is so overpriced now. Designer or not, I'm not paying $80 - $150 on a pair of sterling earrings with some lab created stones or quartz.

MyOwn2Sense, no, LOL, was not talking about the dogs at that point with Kathy V.Z. and her husband. Funny. The whole family and the host were all wearing black. It did seem odd like someone sent a memo to have them wear black so the colorful purses would show up better.

I did catch our little pony yesterday and noticed also that she was "hoarse." LOL. Ok - had to laugh there. Maybe her time in LA wore her out. Patti did mention to a caller that she had been out in California and that she might be moving to LA. "Might" is all she said. Does make you wonder.

The show with Rick and Ant, was not all that funny to me. I think that Rick wants to be the star and he will do whatever he can to upstage Ant. Ant is getting louder by the minute. All the hosts are trying to come up with something to make people buy. Pairing up with each other to present items seems to be one way. Ok - if one host is not loud and obnoxious enough, let's bring out two hosts to really bug the heck out of people.

Something is up with LaLisa. Have you seen her hair? It is not up to her diva perfection kind of style that she strives for. Her hair has a old fashioned look to it now. It might be that she is sad that little pony might be leaving.

Last night I was watching La with Michael Hawkins, and I got the feeling that Lisa is into him. She was coy and flirty, and there were times you could see he was uncomfortable. He is a nice guy and a great designer but I don't think he can afford L'Orange as a wife. Too high maintenance!
I guess Lisa was trying not to say "amazing" in every sentence, but she changed it to "stupid gorgeous", that doesn't make any sense at all. She was saying "Holy Cow" also, about every 5 minutes, and it was very annoying.

A couple of "Shawnisms" from today. Talking about CitiKnits, she said:"CK looks fabul-on".
About DuJour that she loves: It's very IT!"
And then, talking about the Holidays, she said, "this is the time when we travel on planes, trains and automobiles"

Late last night, they had a show Gifts from Rick and Antonella, and how come the Q chose the two more hyper people to host it together? As usual they were as loud and hyper as they always are, and the volume on my TV went to single digits, in order for me to try to sleep. Her laughter drives me insane!

marshmallowpeep- Odd is certainly the right word for it. LOL. Why or why can't someone just blow it out smooth and straight for her please!!! It would have to look 10x better than it has been lately. And when she tries to push the ends behind her head or into her collar, why oh why does she just not wear it up already. Drives me nuts because it's soo distracting and she's got to have access to stylists in her line of work wouldn't you think?? or could QVC be cutting back on those perks?? Speaking of perking up, maybe LaLi will 'perk up' after Ponytail leaves. Stay tuned. Hah.

I adore Michael Dawkins as well as his designs but always thought he played for the other team. I definitely thought he was flirting with Lisa last night though, he was touching her arm, correcting her gently...it was odd! A few years ago when the pearl rondel bracelet was a TSV (I bought two and still love love love them) I happened to be in the studio and asked Lisa if my suspicions were true (I know, I was a dolt for asking) and she just ignored me with a smile.

Despite her ups and downs she's still one of my favs, but I think she seems tired and is talking by rote now. She's very intelligent...after a while anyone would burn out in that job.

The Q was recently ranked low in some poll related to online ordering due to excessive postage and handling charges. I was looking for a camera and noticed that most of the ones on the Q had no reviews which makes me feel like they are now selling junk that other companies have had problems selling. I hope it isn't true. I have no idea what is going to happen to them but with the ecomony tanking and almost certain depression ahead, how can they continue to sell stuff that no one really needs?

Dear Lisa,

You looked lovely in your red gown on the November 7, 2008 Bare Escentuals show. But why were your arms so orange?
Usually your BE tans look fine, but last night, your tan had a heavy orange glow.

Can you please tell me which specific BE product you used this evening? I like to self-tan, but I prefer the item which does NOT give off the orange color.

Thank you.

It'll be funny to see if she actually answers her.

There apparently was a news item out today that QVC is laying off 700 employees. I guess our speculation is correct, the bad economy is even hitting the Q's loyal little old lady customers.

I love Suzanne's new haircut. It is trendy without being tacky and really flatters her - some other people (La, Antonella, Sharon, Jaque to start) should really take a lesson from her.

Callie Mensa just said, and I quote, "our Today's Special is rocking the free world." I think their TS is some kind of cleaner. How long are they going to be selling Obama coins?

I got my Thanksgiving card from Q today with their offer of 2 easy pays to use between now and January. Luckily, I can resist this cheap ploy but I'm sure there are many scoping out the QVC site now looking for something to get on easy pay because they think they got a deal. They must do their cards early. Davinia signed the card.

Get ready for a day of Susan Graver tomorrow and all her talk of crazy good, soft as mashed potatoes, cotton rich, cashmoozie. She's got the TSV. It's A85075 for about $44 with free S&H. It wouldn't be so bad, but it's way too lacy for me at this chilly time of year.

Whimsey - do you work at QVC or were you at the studio store there or am I misunderstanding your last post?

Virgo Gal is right, I Googled -- QVC laid off 160 people today. The article is at marketwatch.com (I don't know how to do links). The rest of the people will be phased out and other positions created, for a net loss total of 700 positions. I'm shocked.

I was there via the graciousness of a friend who works at the Q. It was a wonderful day!

I wonder who will be laid off. Most likely warehouse and customer service first which will affect sales. Maybe they will have hosts work 8 hour shifts like nurses in hospitals! I work in the financial district of NYC. The word on the street is just awful and the word comes from people who know. There has been a chill in my bones for about two months now because I fear the worst. Half the time I don't want to spend money on anything, the other half of the time I want to pretend that everything is like it used to be and still want to shop.
