Yup, Dane aired for only the first three months - first airing in the first episode on July 30, 1984, and his last airdate was October 30, 1984. Mark Arnold first aired the next day and stayed until Joe was killed off on March 1, 1985.

Wow, shocked Dane Witherspoon is gone, and still young! Does it mention cause of death?

No, it didn't, but I would assume natural causes. In any rate, it's kind of hard to believe he was only on the show for its first three months, because he had such a firm grasp on who Joe Perkins was - and the insane, electric romantic chemistry with Robin certainly helped. He definitely had presence - so much so that people still remember him nearly 30 (!!) years later. RIP Dane...you never have been nor will be forgotten.

With the sad impending demise of TWoP (will ol' Tubey get a funeral with snark-filled eulogies?), it seems many TWoP refugees are making their way to Previously.tv, a site run by original TWoP mods, so it should be a painless transition should you choose to head over!

Anyway, there is a forum for Santa Barbara now up. Please come and continue the discussion there!
