And I enjoyed how she just looks like she's having a ton of fun in those pictures. I don't think she'll win, but I'm going to be rooting for Yoanna this season anyway.

Second -- I think the producers found their eating disorder (there, I said it) story arc for the season with this one. She's got her Laura Flynn Boyle on. I can't wait to see her in the ballerina outfit.

Please - if you're pretty, don't be a bitch, too. You just prove the "model" stereotype.

She may not be classy, but her face is gorgeous in the pictures she takes.

Also, I think her cheekbones are gorgeous.

After all that weight lost Nigel still complained about her body.
Isn't it likely that after losing so much weight her body would just look different from the other girls'? I've never lost that much weight so I don't know how much things like loose skin or stretch marks would come into play, but even after gaining and losing the freshman fifteen I got lovely little stretch marks on my hips.

Not necessarily. Stretch marks are more about rapid weight gain (the skin doesn't grow as quickly as the fat accumulates) -- I've had stretch marks on my hips since I developed hips, & I wasn't anywhere near overweight as a teenager (just built to have booty. Sigh.). And I gained about 50 lbs (medication-mediated) over several months about 2 years ago, & have since lost most of that weight (low-carb,yay!) -- no (new) stretch marks, no extra skin. And I'm 38 -- younger skin is more elastic. I think extra skin is more of a problem with greater weight loss -- 100+ lb -- or the kind of rapid change that happens in something like pregnancy (my SIL took great pleasure for a few months after giving birth lifting her shirt & showing the handfuls of skin -- I guess to prove that it was skin, not fat. And because she likes to shock people. She's now back down to a size 2 skirt. At the same weight & height that I am -- & I'm wearing size 10 pants. Unfair.)

but really, i do know her. yoanna is a friend of mine.
first of all, her name, yoanna. it IS her real name, not a stage name. her mother is from mexico, and yoanna is the spanish version of joanna. she did not add "yo" to differentiate herself from anna.
as far as her weight loss goes, yoanna did hire a trainer to help her lose the weight. this happened a couple summers ago. she worked out a lot and changed her diet. she was very determined and she lost the weight, the right way. however, i honestly don't know if it was 50 pounds she lost or not. she has always been a very beautiful girl, i never even considered her "plus-size" before she lost the weight.
i've also read comments about her apparent bitchiness and attitude. yes, i've heard about the previews for next week's episode and her screaming at everyone. well, i have no idea what happens, and neither do you. but i can tell you that everyone i have talked to who knows yoanna can't believe that this wasn't brought on by something serious.
someone mentioned that she seems "pop culturally astute." and i agree, she is very intelligent and witty.
she also knows a lot about fashion designers and labels, yes, because she is interested in those things. and really, her family does have the money for her to be interested in fashion and labels. but yoanna would never be the one to tell you that her family is wealthy. she is not a snob and she is not a fake.
yoanna is one of the kindest people i know, and in my opinion, she deserves to win more than anyone else on the show. i will be cheering for her throughout the season, regardless of what anyone else has to say.

Hey, you are not going to get along with everyone you meet. She say that this is the first time she had any conflict with another woman. Honey, there is no such thing as friends in a competition!

And I don't think Yoanna, restaurant toilet-paper stealer, should ever call someone else's actions "tacky".
And how can the judges call her confident when she held out her hand (in the "stop" gesture) and told the other girls "Don't look" before did her runway walk at the judging panel? She did it right in front of them and the judges didn't call her on it -perhaps they didn't hear her. Doesn't she realize that everyone will be looking at her if she, you know, actually models? Geez.

Unlike most of the other gals, she LOOKS like a high fashion model.
((but maybe I'm just biased because *I* wear my Converse all-star's with wacky dresses too, hee!))
She's the one gal I'm really rooting for, but she seriously needs to get the Hell over that yarn-haired hosebag Camille already and learn to just ignore her attitude!
The fashion world is full of similarly fake and phoney broads like Camille, so she'd better just get over the drama and worry about herself in the meantime.
Here's hoping she pulls herself together a'la Jenascia and keeps her focus until the end.

Word! I was totally expecting the judges to call her on that. Or at least a snippy remark.

That's why I like her so much. I just think she is so nice that she cannot believe Camille is as real as her cornrows.

I think the fact that they were pleased that she really took to heart their criticisms and showed considerable improvement made them ignore that fact. They shouldnt have, though.

But she's got some big-ass issues. I liked how she handled Camille-gate with Tyra--it was more neutral than I'd expected, but the little collapse they showed earlier, the horrible makeup, and what I thought was only a so-so shoe shot...
She needs a spine. Jenescia is seeming like Miss Willpower compared to her. In the end she delivered the illusion of confidence though, and maybe that is indeed enough.
also: BE AWARE OF THE SHOE, Yoanna. BE AWARE OF THE SHOOOOOOOOOOEEEE!
Every show needs a Zen/Obi Wan moment.

And for some reason, the way she kept talking about negative energy and crystals made me smile. She came off as kinda wacky and new-agey and spiritual, and I really liked that about her.
If nothing else, I have the feeling she'll stick around because her "rivalry" with Camille is interesting as hell. And it's nice to think that at the very least, she'll be portrayed as the "good" one.
I really think she has a good chance of winning now.

I don't think she actually meant it towards all the girls... just Camille (and I don't blame her for that.) She seemed to get along fine with all the other girls, and seemed to be friends with many of them. She certainly didn't protest them looking at her modeling before.
I'm pretty sure that her negative comment was made only for Camille. Which doesn't excuse it, but I think it makes it more understandable.

Then again, in those older shots with her in the flower dress she looks really nice.

That said, she should not have picked a shot which showed that the shoe she was wearing was two sizes too big for her.
