Does anyone know when this show is airing in Detroit? It looks like there's a game the night of the premiere.

I'll be on the couch with mrdahlia next to me. He has actually consented to watch reality tv with me! Although I'm sure it has nothing to do with Tyra Banks or anything...

With a few exceptions, it's the lower end for height as a regular model. Plus sized girls need to be taller.

Exotic I can only speak for the modelling agencies that I am familiar with, and they start all model heights at 5'8", including plus-sized models, with few exceptions. I know two plus-sized models who are just 5'8" and they work very regularly, mostly in editorial/print work. While they are plus-sized, they are proportionally smaller than a model who is over 6 feet.

Edited because proper spacing is paramount to readability.

Okay, that's fair. It's been a while since I worked in the fashion industry, so things could have changed since then. I know that plus sized model have, for example, gotten smaller since then, so it makes sense they may have also gotten shorter.

I'm still confused, though, about which of the girls on the show is supposed to be a plus-sized model.

I'm pretty certain that Anna Bradfield is the plus-sized one. Strange to me, IMHO, because she isn't "plus", by my standards. But what can you do? Tyra is considered "big" by model standards.

In the phone on the UPN site where they are all in tank tops and bikini bottoms, she certainly looks like she has some more meat on her bones than many of the other contestants, but I would never call her plus sized. At 5'8" and 130, she is a good 35 pounds lighter than Robin was (I believe Robin was also 5'8")...I can't imagine how they can call her their "plus sized" contestant. Doesn't mean that they won't, of course....

I am really surprised at the photos that each model has posted in her gallery on the ANTM website. Does anyone think that these girls actually chose these photos to represent them? Some of them look more like candids that random acquaintances would have sent in. The quality of the models this season definitely looks pale in comparison to last season. My vote is for Sara.

Just wanted to say a big WOOHOOO! 4 and a half hours and counting!

I don't think the candids much stand out - but they all seems to have decent bone structure. Makeup, hair, lighting etc can work wonders...

Hey everyone! Just wanted to say hello, I was an occasional poster during the first season, and am looking forward to the new season. Hopefully this next round of girls are as snarkworthy as the first!

Noooooo! Stupid local WB/UPN affiliate forgot to flip the switch back to UPN at 9:00 and they're airing Austin Powers instead of ANTM! I called and left a message at their station letting them know what happened and how annoyed I am. I really, really hope that they rerun the episode tomorrow night, as they're scheduled to. Otherwise, you may be seeing me in the tape swap thread.

I'll be vicariously living through you guys until I get the new episodes here in Canada. I'm hoping Life will pick up with season two when they complete the run of season one. The Paris trip is on tonight, so there is still several weeks to wait. Enjoy!

Did anyone ever find out the answer to this question? Knowing UPN Detroit, it'll probably air on Saturday which is what they did during season 1 whenever the show was pre-empted.

I'm sad! I don't get UPN here at school. I watched last season and the first episode of this season at home, where we get UPN. I don't know what I'm gonna do! This sucks. I'm just glad we have recaps this year. But it's not the same.

There's no real questions thread, but maybe someone here can help me. On the upn official Top Model site, the pictures from the first shoot used to be full body shots with the guys in it and all, but now I went to see the portfolio pics from last episode, and the first ones that come up are all zoomed up on the faces. Do you think maybe someone made a big deal about them being porn or something since they are naked? I figured maybe someone here has read a news article about it or heard about it. Thought I'd ask.

I noticed the same thing. What gives, Viacom?

Hmm...Viacom also owns CBS and MTV, so I just thought it had to do with fallout from the whole Superbowl Halftime incident. Not like you could really see anything through the body paint, but I bet they are playing it safe.

Should this be moved to speculation?

Hi everyone! I'm a regular on the Bachelorette's Meet Market. I also post on the Degrassi thread. I mainly lurk here, but I am coming out of hiding. I hope we can liven this place up a bit!

I figured this wasn't quite right for the episode thread but had to share.

I was at this club in Brooklyn last night, and Friday's performance will be GZA of the Wu. First things in my head were, "Will ODB work the door?" and "Will Tyra complete her Wu-cycle?"

If the tix weren't 20 bucks I might go (opening is Jedi Mind Tricks)...hell...I might still go.

So I was showing this other girl who watches ANTM the Coach bag online that I've been covetting. It's suede and green and so very beautiful. She agreed that it was beautiful and commented that bright colorful bags can look tacky but when you've got on a simple, sophisticated outfit, a colored bag can really go "Pow." I lost it when she said that; when she realized what she did, she was horrified that she pulled a Tyra.

Anyone else find themselves saying "Pow!" or that things are "fierce"?

::whisper:: I've been calling lots of things 'fierce' in homage to Tyra. It cracks me up, especially her facial expression when she says it. ::whisper::
