Anyone crack up nonstop when Doug was turning that dumbwaiter (sp?) for what seemed like forever?

I started choking on the ice cream sandwich I was eating when he was describing the dumbwaiter/porkchop scenario..."Picture this: you're in bed, your hungry for some porkchops...and both of your legs are broken!" I almost passed out. Actually cranking the dumbwaiter until Doug practically fell over was the cherry on top of the whole ep. Hilarious!

Yes, yes and yes. Eventhough I had a feeling that's what he was gonna do -- nevertheless I laughed hysterically.

The thought of Arthur selling hair ribbons to little girls in the playground is hilarious. "They ran away screaming The ribbon man!" Gerry Stiller adds so much to this show.

couldn't really see how carrie looked any different in the flashbacks.

XX number of years ago the red chrysler is still parked in the same place. :)

Saw an old episode in syndication, LH's makeup made her look like audrey meadows in the honeymooners, I couldnt watch it had to listen she looked so scary.

$2,500 is a lot for a bingo award. Arthur looking for a personal submarine didn't seem too outrageous. It was funny seeing Carrie dancing with the money in the back while Holly was crying about her dog.

Arthur: We have to give Holly the money or else we'll be swimming in a lake of fire for all eternity.

Carrie: Both of us?

Funniest lines from this ep:

Arthur: I won the JACKPOT!
Doug: Take your 8 bucks and get outta here...

and...

Arhur: (during the family meeting) Please rise for the Pledge of Allegiance, where the words "under God" will be omitted

Was anyone else besides me thinking, "Gee, shouldn't the money have run out by now?" by the time Holly got there whining about her dog? Oh, and I thought Holly's story was just an act, and we would find out that she used the money on something else at the end, but guess not...

Is it just me who doesn't like Carrie at all? I saw one tonight where Doug took her to his favorite Italian restaurant and she started a scene and then banned him from going there! I was like WTF.

The other episode tonight was the one where Arthur and Doug get her drunk every night just so she wouldn't be bitchy.

I just can't seem to find anything likeable about her at all. I think she's worse than Debra on ELR.

I'm convinced that the only reason Carrie lost her job is so that she can wear those sporty shirts with the kangaroo pounches in front to hide her pregnancy. Just pay attention to how much she stuffs her hands in them and pulls them forward.

I love this show, I just love it. Have discovered it via the daily reruns and it has just wormed its little way into my little heart.

The episode that really got me was the one where Carrie was mad at Doug for not doing more romantic things for her, and he responded by sending her a huge flood of balloons, flowers, etc. to her office, which of course was completely unwelcome!

But that's not what got me, it was the scene at the end, where they're sitting on the couch watching TV, Doug absently points out to Carrie that she's got something stuck in her teeth, she smiles at him, and just quietly start hugging and kissing. All done with very little dialogue, yet it really made the point about romance is all about. Sighhhhhh ....

I never really watch this show but I saw one on the weekend that was hilarious. I guess the father had a small heart problem because of the shock of Halloween. While in the hospital he mentioned that the best time of his childhood was getting lemon ices from a local pizza place. Later on you have Doug talking about how he can imagine a little kid going to the place and yelling about lemon ices and doing a great Jerry Stiller impression.

Then at the end there was a little black and white bit with a kid in short pants and a beanie hat going to the pizza place, slapping his money down on the counter and yelling "LEMMMONNN ICEEEESSS!" It was super funny I am almost laughing now thinking about it.

I am a new viewer and just watch the reruns. However, I notice that the tidbit about tonite's new episode says: The "B" story finds Spence (Patton Oswalt) agreeing to date a guy to boost his morale.

Which leads me to ask, has Spence come out or is this where the comedy comes in? Comedy as in Het playing Gay is supposedly funny.

Your answer is appreciated. Thanks.

From what I know, Spence is not supposed to be gay - he just acts all ambiguous and stuff, though I think he's really trying to convey the character as a big dork, not gay. He does have a girlfriend after all, played by SNL's Rachel Dratch.

Is anyone else totally disgusted by Spence now? Uh, no man on earth would be that desperate to go on a gay date for reassurance...

Leah was so obviously pregnant during this ep..all those panchos and pillows..and let's not forget holding a huge bag of Chinese food in front of her!

Janeane Garafalo (sp?) looked so pretty during this ep...too bad Jerry Stiller wasn't in this ep!

Loved both episodes last night, especially the first with the kids/father babysitting issues. The end where Doug carried a sleeping Arthur out was hilarious!

I agree they're not doing hide-the-belly with Leah very effectively, but I'm among those who believes better that than bringing a kid to the show. I wouldn't mind if they could find a way to do it without making the whole show revolve around it, but if other sitcoms are any indication... that's impossible.

Totally, except I'd question your using the word "now" - I have never particularly liked this character and don't really see any reason for his existence in the show.

Luckily, Spence doesn't show up all the time. He seems to be the "patsy" friend - the one who can be made to do anything and makes everyone else feel good about themselves (a "Screech", if you will).

I can generally take or leave him. He would serve as "voice of reason", except Deacon tends to fill that role as well (and better).

This is my very first post!

It's very strange to see syndicated episodes where Leah Remini is ultra thin and then see the new eps where she is obviously pregnant. I wish they would do a better job of hiding it. Also, I think it was a Monday repeat episode when Marcia Cross (Rinda from Everwood) guested as the sophisticated neighbor. I kept expecting her to suggest some herbal remedy for stress headaches or something.

Caught the dog-walking episode last night, and Wow! The change in Leah Remini's appearance is really startling! I think the show really needs to try to do something, anything, to address this, because it's just totally distracting, it's the elephant in the room (so to speak). Even her voice sounded weird in this episode, maybe she just had a cold.

I agree that the show works fine with the characters not having children, adding new characters would be bad and a recipe for shark-jumping, definitely. Maybe they could have a plot or subplot where Carrie, depressed over her unemployment, finds that she is putting on weight uncontrollably. This could be funny, true to the characters, and could be resolved once LR's baby is born and she is back to her old appearance or close to it.

When Leah was on the Ellen Degeneres show last month, she mentioned that since she's been pregnant she's had terrible allergies -- which is why she's sounding the way she does. Maybe she can't take antihistimines while she's pregnant...

Leah's ailments and pregnancy aside (I agree, it was distracting), did anyone chuckle as much during last night's show as I did?

Favorite bit:

Doug: "The guy always opens the door wearing a towel!"
Boss: "Haven't you learned anything in sensitivity training? They're called turbans..."

And anyone else get the impression that Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara are using some sort of vaudevillian stand up act technique for their scenes together? I recently saw them on the old Carol Burnet & Friends and it sounded exactly like their banter yesterday, lol. Cute...I love them :)

Leah's voice has been "nasal-ly" all season. I wonder if she normally takes some allergy pills or something and can't right now because of the pregnancy. I also notice her hair is strange, too, and I'm guessing she's not coloring it because of the baby. It's really hard to adjust to, especially since we TiVo all the syndicated episodes (two every day) and watch them *a lot*. We've seen every episode at least four or fives times, if not more. Yikes. We need to get out more.

I didn't know LR was pregnant until I watched this weeks ep and it was obvious, I agree that they shouldn't write it into the show, but they need to deal w/ it somehow because it is becoming very distracting. On a side not congrats to LR and her husband.
