Aldon Smith flies Southwest?

I suppose it could be because he's savvy enough to be thrifty with his money, but he can't be that smart if he's going around DUI and making bomb threats in an airport.

Sometimes Southwest is the only option if you want to go from SoCal to NorCal, especially to a place like San Jose (where I'm assuming he was flying since that's closer to the 49ers facility).

I fly from Burbank to Oakland regularly, and Southwest is the only option.

Also, a flight on Southwest ain't that cheap these days. My flights typically cost about $140 to $180 when I buy months in advance and fly Saturday mornings. (Unless you consider that cheap.)

I don't know if I'll ever fully understand how television personalities keep getting arrested. I mean I know some of it is alcohol and the stupidities that come along with that. And previous lifestyles and people you hang around, et cetera. And maybe it's the pressure of the job as well, to always have anything you say be up for worldwide discussion. But damn it seems like somebody's getting arrested a couple of times a year. This time it's Keyshawn on a battery charge. I adore how the top comment on the article is "C'mon man!"

So how long before Countdown announces his replacement? ESPN has a short leash for arrestees (when they are arrested in ESPN's employ and for domestic violence. Getting brought up on murder rap and then mysteriously getting out of it does not make you unhireable, apparently).

NFL to release schedule on Wednesday (ESPN)

The NFL schedule is going to be officially announced and released at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday. The games will be unveiled during ESPN2's schedule release show from 8 to 10 p.m. ET.

Oh good, I probably will be watching the NBA playoffs around then, but maybe I'll flip back and forth

Annually, the release of the NFL schedule has become almost like a national holiday.

Uh What? Slow down there, ESPN. You want it to be that way, with your 2-hour program, but that is just so far from the truth.

Well, for ESPN, the pro day for the 26th pick in the draft is a national holiday.

Well now here's a good reason to celebrate while you are preparing your barbecue, putting ice in the cooler, welcoming the kids and shopping for streamers, balloons and party hats in prepartion for tonight's schedule release:

Games can now be flexed into "Sunday Night Football" as early as Week 5, according to a league source. In the past, "flex scheduling" did not start until Week 11. The league can also "cross flex" select games between CBS and FOX.

The potential flex games between Week 5 and Week 10 come with a stipulation. The NFL can't change the tentative "Sunday Night Football" game every week. The league can flex up to two games total into Sunday night between Weeks 5-10. The rest of the flexible schedule procedures from previous years remains intact. After Week 11, the NFL can flex any Sunday night game.

While there's an almost insatiable appetite for the NFL, there's only so many showcase games in a given week. NBC wants Sunday night to be the best matchup. ESPN wants (and is paying a premium for) a good matchup on Monday. CBS doesn't want to get stuck with crap on Thursday. . .

It will be interesting to see what's left for Sunday.

The funny thing is the Giants already released their schedule today. They're the only team I follow on FB and Twitter but I'm sure other teams have done it too. So what's going to be left for ESPN?

Bloviating.

I'll be watching NFL Network's special instead, but I'll be watching.

(I thought the Giants' schedule was leaked rather than released by the team; they haven't updated their website, at any rate.)
