Anyone up for another one, before the weather gets too hot, that is? Maybe we can arrange it for early April? (Or is that too early? How long does it take to set one up?)
All I know is that we should do one soon, before it gets to be 110 degrees outside and no one wants to move from their air conditioned homes.

Sorry, I'm way too busy. But if someone does the legwork and it's not between April 22-27th I'll totally be there.

That new banner "The Island Want's You To Go"
Is very effective (and awesome).
Anyway, I've lived here about a year & I don't know Phoenix that well, but I'd be happy to help organize...one problem, I think April is out :) and crikey it's getting hot kids!
I've never been to a con so what would we want to do? Bar-b-que? Dinner? Picnic?
Also let's talk availability. I'm pretty open, thanks to gas prices I've axed my trips.
Where in the valley is everyone who would like to con? I'm in Ahwatukee (south Phoenix)
I may email everyone who posted here this year, but not tonight. I'm going to finish the TAR recap and go to bed.
If anyone wants to get the ball rolling with me, please feel free to email.

I'll leave the ideas to you guys, 'cause other than getting to Sky Harbor (and the Heard Museum a few times) I have no clue of where to go in Phoenix.

Well narrowing it down to weekends is a good start. I am glad to see so many responses. Especially so many people wiling to come from so far. I'm having an unusually busy week, but I'll try to start being more proactive.
Ok, so a good place so gather and socialize with a bunch of snarky strangers...indoors because it will be ass hot by the time we organize this (or ice cold :))
Can Oregano's that?
OR...
My husband actually said he doesn't mind if people come to our house. We have a decent size backyard (no pool), an Arizona room with A/C and a pretty decent size ground floor with lots of room for socializing and sitting. It's not centralized, it's off 1-10 & Pecos. But we could do a BYOB potluck barbque thingy and you can all teach me to spell barbeque, and be very casual.
We could also access TWOP at will :)

I could do with cooler, but my knowledge of Prescott is limited to my Dad talking about geting lost between Yuma & Flagstaff.
Input on dates is good from everyone as well. Can it can be assumed that Memorial Day weekend is out? I don't think it's the best time to travel, and some TWOPers are talking coming a couple hours. I'm just trying to organize, not dictate, so tell me if I'm wrong about that.

I live here also and can highly recommend the great weather and yes, Whiskey Row! Which is a strip of bars on the small main drag. Used to be whorehouses and gambling dens back in the 1800's.
I mainly come here to TWoP for Deadwood talk, so that sounds doubly good to me!

I am just keeping in mind that a few people posted coming from Tucson, or south of Tucson, and they will want an idea of how long it may take them.
Also again, if Prescott is agreed upon, I am happy to help organize everyones input for a date, time blah blah, but I can't offer any info on a location.
So we have so far~
Prescott (Whiskey Row), Oregano's (possibly in a central location suggested as Tempe) and my house in south Phoenix. Any north valley or Tucson suggestions?
Looking at weekend dates we we are looking at May 21st/22nd or June 4th weekend as jumping off points. Should we consider Friday evenings? Input?
Also let's think time of day. Late afternoon? Early evening?
Anyone is welcome to email me for off the board discussion, ideas, input as well.

I also agree with the June 4th weekend. Also, late afternoon, 4-5 ish? We might be able to get happy hour prices at that time, and if folks have to drive back to PHX or other towns, they wouldn't get home too late.
To answer your question, Prescott is about 90 miles from Phoenix. Drive takes maybe an hour and a half.

I'm near the 51 and Northern, but anywhere in the valley works for me. It is definately best to schedule something indoors. I suggest setting a date soon, because that will dictate everything else. I'll be gone the first weekend in June, but can adjust for any other weekend.

I'm from Ft. Huachuca which is about an hour south of Tuscon. I was transferred here about two months ago from Texas, so I have limited knowledge of Pheonix especially considering I have never actually been there. However, if any of you can give me decent directions, I can go.
Don't worry.. Phoenix is VERY easy to get around. I live in Flagstaff and use Mapquest whenever I go there. I'm getting to know my way really well.

If people are coming from all over AZ, Phoenix would be the most central to everyone.

Any weekend date is good for me. I think alot of people would find it difficult getting to wherever on a Friday night, especially if they're driving from out of town. At least if it was on Saturday afternoon/evening people could either make hotel reservations or still have time to drive back. If I go to Phoenix, I tend to stay overnight so I'm not driving the curvy mountain roads back to Flagstaff late at night.
