Rupert believes he was the true winner.

*rolls eyes*

I may have to give this magazine a look just to see what Mr. Delusional has to say.

The only way that remotely makes sense to me is that he is the only Pearl Islands survivor to be in All-Stars. Anything else is just impotent spouting.

My take on that article (haven't read it) is that he means he won in other ways, besides being the sole survivor. In the interviews that I've read with him, he seems to say often that he learned a lot about himself, and was embarrassed by how he appeared/acted on TV - big blowhard, etc. - and has made some personal changes. I've always been a fan of his, and liked him even more when he saw what a jerk he had been at times, realized he needed to make some changes in himself, and is working on it (like saying, at the reunion show, how much of a happier person he is now). I guess we'll see in ASS if he really has made changes in his behavior...although (not sure of of the timing of the two shows) he may not have seen S7 until after filming ASS? I think I'll still lurve him no matter what!

Rupert has lost some of his popularity since Pearl Islands ended. His current popularity is listed on the CBS website for Survivor: All Stars (not spoiler-tagged because the information was officially released today) at 86%. Rudy and Colby are close behind at 75%, possibly giving him a run for his money as "most popular" on this edition, at least.

Holy shit, Jer, between Rupert and the Aiken, you, me, and Miss Alli could have an orgy of pure hatred reading that magazine.

Rupert believes he was the true winner.

I think the reason Rupert seems so happy and self satisfied (i.e. smug) is because what he's "learned" is he's popular now. No doubt, he's also surrounded with people constantly reaffirming how wonderful and lovable he is.

This guy's ego is so big I'm sure nothing short of the adoration of millions of people across the US & world could even come close to satisfying it.

I'm sure in his past lives, besides being a pirate, he was probably also at various times kings, emperors, warlords, etc. It's just about damn time the people of this lifetime have finally realized how wonderful he is and suffient numbers of people are fawning over him and flourishing praise and adoration at him. It was his natural destiny after all. Pretty easy to be humble when everyone loves you.

Lord, let the man get off the entitlement trip. He looked good compared to gimps like Jon, Osten and Andrew...but he's next to Ethan and Rudy. Also, since he's New Big Kid, he might be rolled out as quickly as the champions.

Well, I hope he at least plays smarter this round, and checks his emotional baggage at the door.

Yeah I'm half rooting for him, as long as he doesn't annoy me I'm all for him. It'll be interesting to see where he fits in with everyone else, seems weird to think of! Don't blow it Rupert!

Anyone know how long it was between seasons? Rupert may not be as much of a threat if he didn't get much downtime before going back into the game.

On Richard's thread, somebody mentioned that they think Rich will be the first to go because the non-winners will target the millionaires. This made me think about Rupert, and I guess we can add "I didn't win the first time, you did, so I should win" to the long, long list of motivations he has for his HUGE sense of self-entitlement.

I'm still feeling queasy from all the Rupert love I was forced to endure for the S7 reunion show, so I am hoping for a very early boot for Rupert. Hopefully first bootee! *I can dream, can't I?*

I'm here with you, MT. I still have much love for Rupert, despite his self-aggrandizement. I hope he does well, tho I don't think he'll win.

See Rupert.
See Rupert make it to the merge due to his fishing skills.
See Rupert meet Rob C.
See Rob C. play Rupert like an accordian.
Bye Rupert!!!

Needless to say, the less I see of this "It's all about me"
toolbox, the better.

I wish that he wasn't the lone representative of Pearl Islands. Hope he checks that self-entitlement crap at the door because that got old very quickly. He definitely won't be getting the amount of cameratime as before because there are other favorites back as well.

He's the only cast member who I am actively upset about being on the show. I am not looking forward to seeing him again. With the exception of the first and last episodes he was in, I did not enjoy his presence on S7 at all. Here's to an early boot.

Never fear, Mama Tiger, I am still here as well! (Because...uh...it's all about *me*, ya know!) Hee. My RLG (mine, I tell you!) never docked at all - just kept sailing the high seas looting and pillaging. I have spent this "off season" in RupertLand, where I can have "a big o' hunka laaaaaaamb" and am just "too much in control" of everything. For me, Rupert is just so much fun to watch - histrionics and all. It's - well - sort of like watching "Santa Goes Postal". Rolicking good entertainment. I am counting the days until February 1. Can't wait to add more "Rupertisms" to my vocabulary.

Three months. S7 wrapped in early August and ASS started filming in early November.

And go, Rupert! Still rooting on the big lug!

I think my dislike of Rupert is based soley on the editing of him from the Pearl Islands. I got sick of him so fast, which is a shame, he seems ok. I am excited to see how the "Rupert Show" will go when mixed in with the "Richard Hatch Show", the "Colby Cheesefest" etc. This is exactly why All-Stars is going to be so sweet, all these egos, all those hours of tape, edited down to one little hourly program.

Rupert's playing with the big dawgs now. And he's handicapped because most of these folks have been part of the Big Dawg Club for a long time, doing appearances and get-togethers. They all know each other, and Rupie's the newest member.

Another handicap might be the lack of time between his PI experiences. The other's may have had longer to research and train for this game. I've read articles where the others have been in training, and hired all kinds of body and mind coaches to prepare for this. When was Rupert tapped for S8? Did TPTB tap him only after he proved to be so popular on TV? That would mean even less time for him to prepare.

Skycatcher, I read in an interview with Peachy promoting Survivor Pearl Islands about how we were all going to love Rupert. This was before PI even aired. He said that Rupert "leapt" off the screen etc and that he would be one of the most memorable survivors ever.

So from that I'd conclude that TPTB would have had him in mind for ASS as long ago as July, and probably approached him re being an ASS contestant as soon as PI ended in August. He would have had 3 months to prepare.

But lets not forget: Rupee is the reincarnation of Blackbeard - I mean really, how much preparation would he need?

I think Rupert is great!

Don't forget that Rupe's got the home-field advantage. All-Stars also takes place in the Pearl Islands. Knowing how to physically survive there should help his tribe in the long run and get him at least to the jury again.

Whistle me abord the love galleon.

I think Rupert's got a great shot this time. I didn't last time. Players from earlier seasons will be gunning for those who came before them. Rupert might be overlooked in the "quest for revenge" and get through on his skills.

But how valuable will Rupert be without his beloved spear? I think it's been said that they were given absolutely no supplies this time around. I may be wrong.

I'm hoping people will see through his self serving ego and shoot that overinflated ego down, perhaps with a fishathon between Richard vs Rupert, who'll catch the most fish, and the attention and praise of the tribe.

Richard - I got 8 Fish!
Rupert - I got 5 and an octapus! I win!
Richard - What are you talking about?
Rupert - The Octapus is worth more than fish!
Richard - WTF
Rupert - This is MY Island and MY lagoon and stop catching MY fish ON MY BIRTHDAY!

A spear would make it easier, but knowing what's out there, how the different fish tend to move, where the crabs hang out, etc., not to mention what vegetation they found last time. I think it will be valuable. Not to mention, just being comfortable from the start in the environment....

But I think you're right about the no supplies.

Is it no supplies or no food? My fading memory is that it's the latter, but I'm happy to be proven wrong.

And I really don't know how much of a home field advantage Rupert will have; most of the others were also on tropical islands of one variety or another. It's the folks from Australia and Africa who are facing a totally different environment who will be more handicapped, I would think. Rupert will be able to buy himself some time as a provider again, but it's the head game he's got to get into or it's gonna kill him the second time around, too. He's just too guileless for the head game most of the time, I'm afraid.

He may be popular, but Rupert is far too mired in the tribe vs. tribe (vs. tribe?) aspect of the game that he assures his own booting as soon as the merge hits. Never bothers to develop valuable intrerpersonal relationships with those outside of his core alliance, and that will be his downfall.

In fact, he's so mired in the tribal aspect, I would not be surprised to see him out there with a confused Rudy, chanting 'Drake! Drake! Drake!" Just doesn't seem to get it.
