Here was another show I loved, Best of the West

I saw a few episodes of that but don't remember much. Didn't that show last a couple of seasons? I'm surprised it didn't wind up on TVLand or something.

I remember this show fondly. I know it didn't last long enough for syndication, though for some reason I thought it aired for two shortened season. But a quick check reveals it was on the air for one full season of 22 episodes for the 1981-82 season.

I liked the show and recall that it starred a pre-Silver Spoons Joel Higgins as the title character and also Meeno Peluce as his son. Peluce was a regular presence on TV in the late 70's/early 80's, but his career would fade by the time he reached high school age. Now he is mainly remembered for being Soleil Moon Frye's brother.

Today Peluce would be called a show killer as he was a regular on several short lived series. Besides Best of the West, he was on Voyagers and the TV version of The Bad News Bears. He also made guest appearances on a few other doomed shows, like Tenspeed and Brownshoe, Manimal and Angie.

I remember Meeno fondly from Voyagers. It was a fun show. I also loved Best of the West for its short run, but don't recall him in it. I do, however, remember Leonard Frey as a campy villain. Possibly I'm imbuing the character with campiness retrospectively, but that's how I remember him.

Sorry if question has been asked, but there was a show in the late '80s/early '90s on CBS Friday at 8:30 PM. The premise was about a woman hired to work with socially awkward software developers (3 or 4, I can't remember). Basically, each week, the developers learned something about social interaction. And she would, I think, learn, something about business(? - not even sure about this part).

For the life of me, I can't remember the title. What's funny was, until last month I completely forgot about this show. One day it just popped back into my head. At first I thought Jim Carrey was p/o the cast. However, looking at his TV roles on IMDB, I didn't see it (although I could have missed it since I don't know the name of the show or the exact year it was on).

The show was on only for half a season. I think aired its last show in December and then it was gone never to be seen or heard from again.

I watched up until the last aired episode. I guess I must have fun the show amusing since I kept watching it, but now have only a faint memory about the show.

Anyone who may have any recollection of the show about the cast or name would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Update: The show is/was called Dweebs. It ran from 9/95 to 11/95. I was slightly off on my timeline. I guess my memory was a little skewed on the date (mid '90s as opposed to late '80s/early '90s).

I have a vague recollection of that show being on, but I don't think I saw more than an episode or two.

I vaguely remember Dweebs. Just pictures in my mind I don't think I could recall any plot points. I think they must be pissed that they Big Bang Theory and (to a lesser extend) The IT Crowd took that concept and ran with it.

Doctor, Doctor with Matt Frewer

OMG! I remember that show! I figured I was one of maybe four people in the country who watched it.

These quotes were from way back in 2006, so now there are at least 3 of us who remember it. I was reminded of this show just now as I was listening to the radio and heard Robert Palmer singing "Doctor, Doctor", which was the theme song of the show. I floved this show. It probably didn't even have enough episodes to have a DVD, but it was sure hysterical.

You made a mistake Cynicat x Good Lovin by The Young Rascals was the theme song not Bad Case Of Loving You. I'm must the fourth fan of this crazy funny show. I still hated that CBS taking this show off the air the entire cast had great chemistry together.

I sure did, Shadow X, thanks for the correct info. Not only did I misremember the opening, but also the real name of Robert Palmer's song! Getting old really sucks. I was able to find this and this. At least I didn't forget how funny it was.

Add me to the Doctor, Doctor love train. IMDB lists 40 episodes (including the never aired in the US one) over one summer plus two seasons.

From 2005:

Love, American Style was one of my shows. I especially loved the theme song.

If there are shows you remember from your early to late baby-boomer childhood, MeTV is the place to find them. Watched Love, American Style on MeTV the other night. It was a throwaway episode with Frank Sutton (Sargent Carter from Gomer Pyle) and a blonde I should have recognized but didn't as his wife. There was a very un-PC guru doing a bad middle-eastern accent as well. Good times.

I'm old, so I remember "That Was The Week That Was," from the mid 60s. There were skits and songs making fun of the news of the week. Always had me in stitches.

Which one? The British or the American version? If I recall correctly, the British one was more caustic.

I'm just about old enough to remember TWTWTW first-hand, but don't. The way I learned about it was through Tom Lehrer's album that included some of his songs from the show, like Pollution. Vatican Rag is also on that album but I don't know if he played that on the show.

This is the US version of the show.

Thanks a heap, Alexandria Bay! Now I have "First you get down on your knees, fiddle with your rosaries, bow your head with great respect, and genuflect, genuflect, genuflect" going through my head :)

Yes, I think that song was played on the the American version.

Loved both of those shows and my little 10 year old heart was broken when they were cancelled. The boy is now a photographer. Lived Voyagers and wanted an amulet to travel in time. Today the fact that a young boy and grown man are traveling together would keep it from getting made.

As for BotW- I still remember the opening song- sang along with it every week.

Yeah, if Voyagers was made today, they'd have to be related--brothers, father & son, uncle & nephew, something like that.

You aren't kidding about that! It's like an overdose of nostalgia that gets better and better. Petticoat Junction, The Mothers-in-Law, SWAT, My Three Sons, Hazel (Hazel!!), Family Affair, Thriller...and that's just a few. Now I'm just waiting for The Ghost and Mrs. Muir

I wonder who opened up the vaults?

Anyone remembers "Grosse POinte", the teen show/Beverly Hills 90210 parody? I finally got the DVDs and am rewatching it, and gosh, that's some great stuff. It holds up perfectly, it's still funny and current as hell. I am surprised the whole cast pretty much didn't amount to much - Irene Molloy hasn't acted in years.

Yes, I love Grosse Pointe. I am also having the DVDs. Such a funny and great show. I wish someone would put a similiar show like this on the air. When I rewatch the show, I always ask myself why it failed. Because it was so good and had a great good-looking cast. I mean TheWB renewed others of their horrible comedy-line-up, so why not this little gem?

I think Irene Molloy is mostly doing theater work and music in these last few years. Still surprising that she didn't even once come back to tv or movies. I think the only actors of the show that you see here and there are Bonnie Somerville, Lindsay Sloane and Kyle Howard, though none of them really had all that much luck with a successful regular tv gig. Nat Faxon will be in a new FOX comedy this fall.

Yup. They're the most successful ones out of the cast. It's sad that Al Santos, Irene and Kohl Sudduth didn't get a lot of work after it. I wonder if the industry somehow resents the show and the people associated with it.

Grosse Pointe is hysterical. It didn't age at all. I highly recommend it.

Hazel (Hazel!!)

I remember seeing that show back when TVLand ran the really old classics.(I don't know why they stopped since TVLand is supposed to be CLASSIC TV, for pete's sake.) It was my first time seeing the show. It was fascinating. One of the reasons is the decor of the house. Kitchens were SO different back then and everything was so huge.

I know Kohl Sudduth went back into theatre afterwards. I'm kind of surprised Al Santos didn't end up scowling at the world from Calvin Klein print ads or something; taking off his shirt is dude's one marketable skill.

I hope you fellow crazies can help me: I'm trying to identify a show that I can clearly remember watching, but which has not appeared in any of my google search attempts.

The show -- which asked celebrities about their favorite music -- aired for a year or two around 2000 on a basic cable channel. The 4 celebs on each episode sat in armchairs, 2 each facing each other, with the host in the fifth chair facing the camera. There was a large projection screen behind them. All I can remember is that -- I think -- the celebs were asked their favorite albums, or favorite songs in a category, and there was some "debate" and they must have shown clips on the large screen.

I remember an episode with Minnie Driver which, if I'm remembering correctly, had her castmates from "Return to Me" with her (as with all these shows, folks showed up when they had something to promote).

Anyone?

I think you're talking about The List on MTV.

This is all I could find online about it. Probably because googling "the list" just brings up lists of things.

The episode that I always remember is one with four of the people from the first season of Survivor, after it was so big that first season and those guys were showing up everywhere.
