When I first heard about it I thought it might turn out cool, but this episode was really bizarre and weird. And what was up with that font they used for the words?! I was laughing at that font as much as I was at the stupidity of it all.

Yeah when I figured out for sure that was Emily I was like we get Emily acting like the street whore she is twice yet we don't get even a glimpse of Zander? Bastards.

Lindze, that girl is gorgeous. She looked so good in the period costumes especially the "bad girl" getup. I'm just going to overlook that weird wedding turban thing "Georgie" had on.

The first words out of my mouth as Dillon was falling asleep were 'Oh my god I'm scared' and then I proceeded to laugh my head off at everything and kept saying 'this is so stupid!'

SC was so good though, so was TK and CP I loved them as the kooky villians. TK + eyeliner= megahotness, even more than TC in eyeliner and dressed up like Jack Sparrow.

Wow color me shocked, same old Georgie/Dillon/Sage storyline in the 1920's black and white except with marriage instead of sex. Lame, writers, lame! Couldn't think of something fun and exciting to rival the Luke Christmas episode could you?! My sister was filled in on their entire storyline from this sad little b&w recap though, so something was accomplished.

I absolutely loved today's episode. It had me laughing out loud into commercial a few times. When they first showed LD and NLG, I think I scared the dog. As a matter of fact, I think I laughed everytime NLG was on screen. Do you think it was written for Ma Tubles to be so unemotional or an acting choice by Nancy? And I would do anything for a T-shirt with that pic of Tracy and Dillon!!

This silent episode was a cruel joke for me. I got to see the first five minutes of it and was all excited because this looked like a GQ AND Drab4-free episode but then I had to go to my friend's to set up for a party (it's later) so I turned on the station on my Walkman before remembering that, oh yeah, this is the stupid silent movie episode. All I could hear was the cheesy elevator music. Sigh. No Silent Episode for me.

Cindi Rinehart (I think y'all know who she is because I've seen her discussed here before, although she's a local TV personality so I don't know why you would, but anyway . . . ) gave the results of her Best of 2003 poll today, and receiving most votes for Best Soap Couple overall was . . . Sonny and Carly! Yeah, I don't get it either. I don't even hate S&C, but best couple? Feh. Faith was voted Best Villianess and Dillon Best Newcomer, which could make you feel either better or worse, depending on how you look at it.

The only other thing on my soon-to-be-martini-soaked mind is why BBH gets so much screen time. He's not even a remotely appealing child and he adds nothing to any of the alleged storylines. Every time he's there rolling his eyes about something, it makes me nostalgic for the days when Tommy Hardy was a boy because we never saw him. Whenever Gail would go over to the Hardys' she'd ask, "where's Tommy?" and every single time Audrey would reply, "oh, he's in his room playing." Tommy went into his room, played there for 15 years, and came out a psychiatrist. Can't BBH at least go into the laundry room for a couple of years?

Hallelujah! Finally I have internet access again. I haven't been able to visit this board in weeks. Just spent the last two hours catching up-and clutching my stomach in laughter the whole time. Let me just say a gallon of word to chezhdchick, merlin7, and starrynight5 for all your posts I've seen on the Zander/LiRic/Nem mess. In fact let me just be creepy and ask starrynight for her hand in cyber marriage. I've read your posts here and at the Schmildren-Shmospital board(I'm ZanderRules there) and it's like you post exactly what I would, right down to not exactly having a hate on for the Sam character or Kelly Monaco.

No surprise I'm completely on Zander's side in this situation. Like others have pointed out, I don't know why LiRic don't even want to broach the idea of joint custody of the baby. It makes me hate them even more than before this SL started. The idea that Ric is better daddy material than Zander is ridiculous. Yes, Zander works for Faith but it's not like he can't quit. Hell he told AVS!Emily his job meant nothing to him and she still tried to brow beat him out of his child's life. Liz thinks it's a-ok to hand her child over to Ric when he's really done nothing to earn her trust back but she doesn't even present Zander with an opportunity to turn his life around and work something out. And then when he won't hop to and give his kid away, she just assumes there's no way Zander could actually love and want his child. And letting Ric handle the reveal was wrong. Despite what Zander told her on the docks about not being able to count on him, she still claimed to care about him and yet she let Ric treat Zander as if he was some stranger off the street, trying to buy him off for his child. Geberous stipend?! Bloddy hell! I don't know what Liz was complaining about. Ric's lucky he didn't end up at the bottom of the harbor. Don't even get me started on the PirateDragQueen and his LipGlossed Princess. Their smug and self-righteous attitudes are absolutely sickening. They have no business in this SL anyway. Who asked her to stick her saintly ass in the middle? And then she gets huffy because the ex-husband, she screwed over literally, doesn't immediately give in to her selfish demands.

ITD that Zander is a character that never takes responisibility for his actions. He takes for too much responisibility for things sometimes, and is always punishing himself. He screws up, no doubt, but he always hurts himself the most. Which is why, as much as I hate this SL, I like that Zander isn't taking crap anymore and dishing it back out. At this point Zander could walk up to Nem and plug him both and I'd cheer him on. But most assuredly this is character assassination. And IMO that really can't be compared to what happened with Ric and the panic room. Ric was a new character still basically at that point, whose character hadn't really been established. He was just a mishmash. So even though the panic room was stupid and crappy you couldn't really point to it and go 'But Ric would never do that.' After over three years on the show, you can definitely say that about what they're going to have Zander do. He would fight for his baby to the death and would never use it, even to get much justified revenge against his enemies. But once again, Zander didn't start this. Ric and Liz are the ones who decided Zander should give up all rights to his child. This wasn't his idea.

I don't care what the rat bastards in charge have Zander do next. I'll support him and root for him because Chad gives Zander such depth and humanity, without being given any help and he'll come out of this with his dignity in tact, and maybe Zander's as well.

As for today's show I'll say it was millions of miles above the suckitude of last year's New Year's Eve eppy and the Corky Thanksgiving Vortex of Horror. But after having seen OLTL's recent fantasy this ep reeked in comparison. And was barely enjoyable on it's own. Granted, I only saw half of it(I had more pressing concerns like clipping my toenails) but still it didn't seem fun at all. It was grasping to be funny and wasn't most of the time. And IMO parody isn't funny if it's basically the same as the norm, which this was. Maybe it's because I don't particularly love the Dillon character, but no episode should revolve around one character. And I just felt embarrassed for NLG. Second year in the row that they've made fun of her by portraying her as some sexless, dowdy ninny. In a way I'm glad CB wasn't in this one or the others before it. I really cringed when I thought he was one of the bumbling cops. Better to be ignored than to appear in the crap. Then again, that probably stands for regular every day episodes, too.

Hi everyone. I've lurked for a very long time. I just wanted to say it is really crappy, nasty, dirty, ugly, and many other unmentionable words that Nik and NotEmily made Zander's refusal to hand over his rights to his child to Liz and Ric ALL ABOUT THEM. Yes, that's right, morons. The man is only holding out on giving up his child to get revenge on YOU. Not that he'd want to, oh I don't know, raise his child or be a father or anything. Nope, he just wants to get back at YOU. Poor YOU. Emily, do you get all, um, like, um, dizzy with the world spinning like all around you and stuff?

Which made me even angrier when he went to Lic (I refuse to call them LiRic) at the casino and gave up. Let the character assassinations continue.

I was perplexed by the silent episode since it was alot of the same crap we always see just silent. There were a couple twists but nothing special. Plus the music gave me a headache. I thought some of the women looked gorgeous in those costumes but overall it was very disapointing. They could have come up with something alot better.

There have been a few disappointments for Alcazar, but he keeps coming back after every one. That's love, isn't it?"

Referring to their kiss, "Damage was done to the part of her brain that controls  sexuality....and she makes sure that I know that. The way I think it plays out is that she's starting to be open about her real feelings and then, when things get too close between the two of them, that becomes her cover. That's when she says,  'I don't really feel that way.   It's because of my brain damage.  It's not really really that I have feelings for you.'.... But he's starting to know better."

Shaking my head in disbelief. First of all has it been proven that there's a part of the brain that controls sexuality? Did I miss a bulletin? Second of all she has to be damaged to want someone other than Sonny? WTF? Lastly, I didn't know being brain damaged meant having flashbacks of 70's bad porn automatically stored in the memory.

I'm totally on the Zander bandwagon. That poor guy. Upthread (I'm too lazy to look and all that mouse clicking hurts my head, hee) someone mentioned that the character assassination of Reek was easy to run with since the character was so new. We had no "nice Ric" to fall back on. (So to speak, get your minds out of the gutters!) So when Reek was reprehensible over and over and over and over we/I just rolled my eyes and said, "What a dick."

With Zander we have a whole, complete backstory and one really adorable love story with Amber Tamblyn's Emily. (I've been watching old GH and I really miss that child.) Remember the Pixie Sticks? Dumb. Trite. Silly. But, oh, so cute. And Zander turning his life around. Redeeming himself. Getting out of the drug business. Being genuinely sorry over a long period of time. (As opposed to someone else who says he will and within 15 minutes is skulking in corners and eavesdropping on people he "loves.") So, we do have a good Zander to look back on and say, "WTF? Zander is angry and hurt but he's still acting out of character."

Someone else mentioned a while ago that even when CB is in the background of a scene he's still engaged and totally in his role. That is so true. I've noticed it, too. For me, that's a real sign of professionalism.

Contrary to what I've written, I am not a huge Chad Brannon fan. I think he's fine. In acting and to look at. But he doesn't take my breath away. I hope he does really well whereever he's headed and that if things don't work out, Zander isn't so raped by TIIC that he can't come back and reprise the role.

On the flip side, Steve Burton does have moments of taking my breath away. I've been watching tapes from just before his accident and onward. My GOD his hospital scenes are almost always his best but these are just amazing. I totally buy the brain damage (unlike Carly's which is just contrived and ridiculous) and see the continuity built by the writers (?) from the beginning 'til now. I don't know the history of who wrote what when but from the very beginning they set up the Spidey Sense, his imperviousness to hot and cold, his uncanny knowledge of "things medical", and his ability to empathize with other peoples' feelings even though he doesn't have them himself. Compared to the "no imagination" idea, those are pretty subtle. I was amazed to have flashes of recognition when this dialogue happened:

Keesha Ward [at Jason's bedside]: Don't be sad, Jason.

J [bluntly]: I'm not. But you are.

Keesha stares like she's seen a ghost. She's been trying her best to be chipper and bright and he sees right through her.

The reason I say Carly's brain damage is ridiculous is that a)it happened over night; and b)rather than turning the main character into a dark hero, it's turned her into a nymphomaniac. Just one more way to objectify women and, rather than giving the serious injury of being shot in the head the gravity it deserves, they just make her a joke.

Nice.

But not really.

ANYway, I thought of another scene where Burton blew my socks off. There I am, not bothering anybody, bawling my eyes out while Mac gives Robin the quilt square for the NAMES Quilt in Stone's honour....and just everybody is crying.....including me......and Jason goes on the stage and carries Robin off.

As for TPTB putting Carly with Lorenzo, is it any worse than the abuse heaped on her by Sonny? The mere fact that Sonny removes himself from the situation when he discusses how she "got shot" as if it were a random drive-by or something. Lorenzo's no bargain, but on this show, who is? All the good guys have gotten their characters annihilated to fluff the Drabs. TFGH....

ETA: I mean fluff in the porn sense, as opposed to fluffing a pillow, a cloud, freshly laundered socks or that lovely marshmallow goo in a jar. Oh and Captanne, FWIW, I used to be a fan of Big Steve too, after the reindeer sweater years. I thought that his new life and brain injury would be some excellent raw material. But that potential has also been ruined - that, and the fact that he no longer goes shirtless...*sigh* pass the hydrocodone...

Rudywill, I am a die-hard S&C fan and there is no snarkiness behind that. And while I thought it was the dumbest plot point that Sonny shot Carly, it was an accident. He wasn't trying to shoot her. He was shooting at Alcazar who didn't have the decency to accept the bullet and not let it go anywhere LOL. However, I'd rather see Carly alone with her kids and starting her life over again than to see her with Alcazar. I don't blindly excuse the things that Sonny has done, but what he has done is nowhere close to the things that Alcazar has done to Carly. Sonny may have accidently shot her in the head, but he never helped a man clearly out of his mind keep her chained to a wall in a panic room, he never kidnapped her twice for nefarious reasons, he's never blown up a limo in front of her child, he's never stalked her or sexually assaulted her, he's never paid a woman or man to pretend like they are a ghost to destroy her marriage, and he's never killed a man in cold blood to cover up a crime that he's committed against Carly.

Alcazar is a pyscho stalker, Sonny is not. While Sonny has his faults, Alcazar is 10 times worse.

Glad to see there's some different opinions floating around on the board. I myself am not an S&C fan, but I can see both your and Rudywill's POV.

However, I do want to point out that Sonny's got to be an idiot not to realize that if you point a gun at someone from four feet away and fire, the bullet will likely to go right through them and hit the body behind them. Now I know, Sonny's upset, yadda, yadda, but that was his pregnant wife there. He needs to stay home more and watch a little CSI, you know?

Sonny's been doing bad since he got Karen on drugs and had her strip at his club, he has ordered hits on his enemies since he's been on the canvas and Jason does the dirty work.

On a show where the mad men and the criminals are glorified there isn't much a resident of PC can do and not get a pat on the back for a job well done. Shooting your wife in the head has got to be dumbest thing Sonny's done, and I heard he conveniently forgot to to tell anyone that HE did it. Typical .. everyone else's fault but Sonny's.

I have never been an S&C fan .. actually I hope Carly leaves his sorry butt and takes her children with her. She should of done that a very long time ago .. I just see an abusive man trying to control his wife. He can love her all he wants, but no one deserves to be treated the way Carly has been treated by Sonny.

Steve Burton has his moments - Robin and Jason on the bridge when she says goodbye and goes to Paris, Jason & Carly, Jason & Emily, Jason & Monica .. Steve has blown me away in certain instances .. But Chad blows me away every day he's on my screen.

SSteacher - I think that the destruction of Alcazar's character is almost complete. I agree that he is pure eeeevil, and think that at this point, bringing out the CarLo would be akin to beating the horse after it was shot in the head while foaling . The time would have been when he got her out of the panic room. If Zander can kidnap Emily and she lurrved him (until that is, she met a man with a bigger...makeup case than hers), if Luke can rape Laura and theirs was a love brighter than the light of ten thousand suns.... dear lord, why do I watch this crap? LOL

I used to like Sonny. Even when he was making Karen strip (hangs head in shame); even when he was awful to Brenda and then Lily (clink, boom, awesome). When he was written as a multi-dimensional character who wasn't supposed to be a good guy by any stretch of the imagination. But I can only imagine what it would have been like if Sean Donnelly cornered Sonny and put a metal tipped snakeskin cowboy boot (I figure he was the type) in his ass once and for all....Anyone care to join me on this deck of the ship? We will be departing for 1988....

But the writers would have shown Lorenzo reaching into his sucking chest wound, pull out the bullet and lodge it into Carly's head on his own, thereby aquitting Sonny....who takes his street acquired legal knowledge and runs for DA. The music for the silent episode was mostly themes from famous 19th century piano music. I recognized a couple of Chopin etudes (the "Revolutionary" and the "Winter Wind"). If you didn't like the music, don't assume that means that you don't like Chopin. This was incredibly badly played. There was no rubato and barely any expression. The performance was perfunctory and positively metronomic. I'd assume a robot were playing the piano except we didn't hear clicking as the metallic fingers tapped the keys.

As a Lane fan, I missed his voice terribly during the silent episode. About the earlier comments re: his recurring role on L&C, his best work was in the fourth season when he played two different characters who were reincarnations (actually, pre-incarnations à la Constance Q) of the Tempus character. That was his favorite episode, too, because he got to shoot six-guns and ride horses. I was hoping he might have the same opportunity during the silent movie, but alas and alack, the budget cuts…

I like Chad's acting (and the pretty he brings) more than I like Zander. I'll be keeping an eye out for him after he and Lane are gone and I don't have to FF through this crap show just for a few minutes of Lane a week.

Rudywill, BWAH, to your Journal of Mobster Neurology! I love that! I still can't believe that the writers are actually going with: She's brain damaged so now she's horny. She's brain damaged so that's the only explanation as to why she could want anyone other than Sonny. I personally think a person has to be brain damaged to want Sonny in the first place, but that's just my opinion.

I'm going to watch the silent movie episode again this weekend on mute, maybe my opinion will change about it, we'll see.

I don't think anything Alcazar is done is any worse than anything Sonny's ever done. Alcazar's killed people, so has Sonny. Alcazar kidnapped Carly, Sonny kidnapped A.J. and hung him on a meathook until A.J. gave him what he wanted. They're both assholes, but at least Alcazar is mucho sexy. Sonny not so much.

Chad and Lane ROCKED THE HOUSE in Jan. And I bet that's why it was pulled. A REAL father and son SL with to incredible actors was stealing the spotlight from..well you all know WHO!
