We now have the official press release for Just Shoot Me! - Seasons 1 and 2. We've previously reported on this set, scheduled for June 8, but now we have all the final details about this release, including the previously unannounced extras. Look for those at the bottom of the press release, just above the final cover art shot we've included (it's the same as the one we previously posted, but with a different color scheme). Our thanks to Pavan Badal for his help with this:

Six-Time Emmy Award Nominated Comedy Series Starring David Spade, George Segal, Wendie Malick and Laura San Giacomo

JUST SHOOT ME! The First & Second Seasons
Available June 8 on Special Four-Disc Collector's DVD Set

Culver City, CA (March 29, 2004) - Fashion, mayhem and non-stop laughs are in focus at the New York offices of Blush Magazine - the central location for one of television's wackiest cast of eccentric characters on Just Shoot Me. The acclaimed ensemble comedy series features an irreverent cast including Golden Globe nominee David Spade (Tommy Boy, Joe Dirt), Laura San Giacomo (sex, lies & videotape, Pretty Woman), two-time Emmy Award nominee Wendie Malick (The American President) and George Segal (Look Who's Talking). Available June 8 for the first time ever on DVD from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment, JUST SHOOT ME: THE FIRST & SECOND SEASONS features the complete collection of 31 episodes on a collectible four-disc DVD set, priced to own at $39.94 SLP.

Hot-tempered journalist Maya Gallo (San Giacomo) got herself fired from yet another job when she made an anchorwoman cry on the air with some gag copy on the teleprompter. Unable to find a job anywhere else and facing eviction, she is forced to work for her rich father Jack's (Segal) fashion magazine Blush. The problem is that Jack has not exactly been a devoted and nurturing parent, plus he is now married to one of her former classmates. Personality conflicts quickly ensue with the magazine's colorful staff - libido-driven ex-model Nina van Horn (Malick), philandering photographer Elliot (Enrico Colantoni), and obnoxious, power-hungry secretary Dennis Finch (Spade).

Created by acclaimed writer/producer Steven Levitan ("The Larry Sanders Show," "Wings") and executive produced by TV veterans Bernie Brillstein and Brad Grey ("NewsRadio"), Just Shoot Me ran for seven top-rated seasons on NBC. The series was nominated for seven Golden Globe Awards including Best Comedy TV Series, six Emmy Award nominations and garnered an American Comedy Award for Spade's hilarious performance.

JUST SHOOT ME: THE FIRST & SECOND SEASONS feature several special guest cameo appearances including Jay Leno, Dana Carvey, Carmen Electra, Megan Mullally ("Will and Grace") and Cheri Oteri ("Saturday Night Live").

I liked the show for the first few years. I thought the basic core situations of the show -- a feminist at a sexist magazine; a young woman trying to get re-acquainted with her estranged father -- were interesting and gave the show a certain degree of heart even when the characters were being horrible to each other.

By the last few years, there were all these new and probably network-imposed characters, too many stories built around the least interesting character (Finch), and the characters were all outright mean and nasty. Another good NBC show that went wrong.

I thought the last year was pretty good. It seemed to be going back to its old self. Season 6 was horrid, though. They killed it with all those super guest stars that only came around to hang out with Finch. Finch was funny, but reacting to other people. When he carried out a plot he got kinda dull. Killing Binnie was a huge mistake, even though we never saw her the "My friend Binnie..." stories were the best. Kevin was so not funny. Some of the major interractions were missing: Elliott/Maya, Jack/Maya, Nina/Booze. Basically it was the season of Finch. It got really old.

The earlier seasons were awesome, though. I can watch Dial N For Murder every day and still laugh my ass off.

Favorite quote:

Maya: You. Are. All. My. Bitches!!!

Ah yes, Nina Van Horn, nee Claire Noodleman. One of the greatest female sitcom characters of all time. Never voted, drinks like a sailor, often in the company of sailors and was peripherally involved in the kidnapping of Patty Hearst. And that's for starters. The Biography ep (hosted by Harry Smith) was an instant classic for me. Can't wait for the dvds to come out.

That's from the 3rd season ep, "Slow Donnie", and the Donnie referred to was Elliot's brother.

And then when he is hugging Elliot and mouthing 'my pants are tight' to Maya.

I think it was from one of those later seasons with all the guest stars, but I did really enjoy the college stalker's version of Finch. I didn't care so much for how the ep progressed, but loved how well she mocked him.

I, like most, will always love Slow Donnie, and "Chicken Pot Piiie."

And Nina's antics at the morning staff meetings always make me smile. If only I had the nerve to attend staff meetings drunk, scantily clad, and in sunglasses. Might make me more enthusiastic about mornings.

Yeah that was my favorite one too. Especially her face transposed on some model's body shown over and over again.

This was my favorite show through most of high school. I loved Donnie and "chicken pot pie!!". They show reruns on UPN on Saturday afternoons sometimes. What was the one weird guy in the office name? Kevin? Remember how he had the crush on Nina? I always loved those episodes. Brian Poshen (sp?) is a quite a funny comdian.

He is a funny guy. Every time I see him in a show or movie, I saw, "Hey, it's Kevin!"

Have any of you gotten the DVD set yet? I'm just curious about the bonus features included.

Also, on the TV Potluck thread (Pixel Challenge #110 Jeopardy), KermitD.Frog has a Jeopardy entry with Donnie (hee!) on page 12. Check it out, it's funny stuff.

Ah, Nina Van Horn.

I used to be compared to her - in appearance and mannerisms, not substance-abuse related behavior. Since Wendie Malick is quite attractive, I decided it was a compliment.

Brian Poshen (sp?) is a quite a funny comedian.

He also did a voice on the cartoon Mission Hill, which Cartoon Network shows on its Adult Swim schedule.

Eh. What's new? ;)

Is Kevin the mail man? If so, that guy is stuck with 'weirdo' roles. But yeah, he is funny.

Why is it that I cannot remember "Chicken pot piie"? Where was I? Nina Van Horn documentary rocked. She's truly a funny character.

Ha! I saw the Slow Donnie episode the other night and forgot how funny it was. Being the dork that I am, I made a post on my Livejournal, to which I immediately got four responses saying how much my friends loved that episode. All the cool people love JSM.

I'm thinking about inserting "Chicken pot, chicken pot, chicken pot pie!" into conversations, randomly.

I agree with the other posters - Nina was awesome. Although, my dad has this inexplicable love for the "How the Finch Stole Christmas" episode, and I can't say that I fault him.

We're seeing this now every weeknight at 11:30 pm. Every once in a while, there's a ep that makes me collapse with laughter. Like last night, with French Stewart as the latest of Maya's dating disasters, a puppeteer who adds Maya to his kiddie show as a naggy panda puppet -- and he refuses to admit the panda puppet is Maya. Best part is when he adds Nina as a slutty giraffe -- and Nina is flattered. It ends with Maya going psycho, choking the puppet mayor-dog on camera.

What season did they kill Binnie? I think I have a vague recollection of seeing that. I'm remembering Finch & Elliot breaking into Nina's apartment just to prove that Binnie didn't exist.

I could never catch who sang the closing song. Anybody know it? It's a female voice and the first line goes something like this;

Life keeps bringing me back to you (accompanied by an acoustic guitar)

It was the fifth episode of season 6.

AFIAK it was just a few words strung together by one of the production staff.

Isn't this one of those shows they moved around a lot? And the first season had something like 6 episodes that only aired in March? Well, I occasionally watched the show in prime time, and have never seen it in syndication. So, very surprised when I picked up the Season 1 and 2 DVD set and found out how JSM can be very very funny. Anyone know when the next DVD collection will be coming out? Now that I've found out how funny Just Shoot Me! actually was, I can't wait to see (or re-see) season 3.

I hope they release Seasons 3 & 4 together (separately). I'd buy Season 4 for the Nina Van Horn: A&E Bio episode alone.
