I assumed High Tea put it in quotation marks because Nick used the word; not because the paparazzi isn't real. And I agree with those who think that the paparazzi wouldn't notice or care if Nick Lachey wasn't wearing his wedding ring.

Correct andyllina; Boy-Band Boy-Man used the word because it appears he really wants us to think they care. After all, he was once married to a woman who didn't know if Chicken of the Sea was chicken or fish.

Couldn't agree with you more, I found the whole conversation to be so self-serving and actually quite unnecessary actually.

Kellme made it a point to let her audience know she will be vacationing in Venice and her demeanor, imo, was just so in-your-face "look at me, I'm rich and you're not!"

Can't imagine the majority of Kellme's audience will be vacationing at all in this depressed economy let alone fly to Italy and wonder aloud which of their freebie frocks they should have shipped to their Italian villa.

What depressed economy? On Planet Kellme you can suck at what you do, drag a decent show into the gutter, and still get paid ten million a year.

Venice is an excellent choice for her vacation. The Italians just might chase her into the sewer canals with the rest of the human waste when they see her parading around in that dam nipple dress.

I don't get why Kellme mentions her trips to Venice, and Paris to see Madonna, on FF, but doesn't talk about them on her actual show until after they're over (and then just barely). At least it would be something more interesting and personal than the inane newspaper clippings. I've decided that Kellme wants to reveal as little as possible of her real life on Live, so she's created a character to host the show. Unfortunately it's an uninteresting, unfunny, uninformed, downright tacky character. If she would just spend appropriate time preparing for her show, then I would respect her and not begrudge her the fabulous vacations, etc.

Here's an example - not long ago she mentioned that she and her family had gone to a bluegrass festival. That surprised me so much; I never would have guessed that she'd be a bluegrass fan from what I'd seen and heard of her on Live. She also got a little passionate talking about a Bob Marley documentary. So if she has some interests and knowledge of things, like music beyond idiotic Madonna, then the show should include at least some of that, instead of all the stupid, gutter talk.

I have to wonder if Kelly has made this decision or whether the producers have determined that this information is not wanted on the show. I don't think that Kelly is the one who decided to use "Long Island" and not "The Hamptons".

I can imagine a group of execs deciding that the character of Kelly needed to be more common, more approachable, and that the "I'm a celebrity, look at me" schtick of Regis wasn't wanted anywhere near this show ever again. Seems like a questionable decision, however I can also imagine some focus group results saying that they aren't interested in the fantabulous super-privileged existence of the hosts. That would explain the evolution of Host Chat. Now they talk about common stuff that viewers "relate" to. Not many can relate to having multiple homes, A-List friends, and luxurious worldwide travel. Instead, we get reality highlights, inane video clips, sexual banter, and "isn't-this-interesting" factoids/studies/weirdness from pop culture websites.

I don't think it matters what Kelly talks about. I'm sure if she talked about her real likes people would still slam her. Look at the whole Long Island, Hamptons thing she said one and was slammed. Changed it and was still nitpicked. If she talks about vacations she is bragging if she doesn't she is acting like she is not rich.If she wants to keep somethings private good for her. People will still watch if for no other reason just to complain about the vile Kelly Ripa.

Maybe that's all we get because Kelly is incapable of talking about anything else, and not so much because viewers "relate" to it.

I agree with this. I do think Gelman encourages her to be more silly and raunchy, but I think it's because that is the only thing that seems to come naturally to Kelly. She can't even read a clipping from a paper without saying "umm umm' and holding it to her nose for dead air from what I see.

Maybe some would hate her no matter what, but that is not how I feel. I like Kelly since she was Haley on All My Children. Even though I thought she was pretty green and awkward when she auditioned, I liked her and rooted for her to get the job. I liked Kelly because she appeared so real and likable. The first part of the show is about being yourself and Kelly just seemed like a nice and naturally funny woman.

Then it seemed like Kelly changed. I thought she got strange and over the top when her sitcom was cancelled. I felt like suddenly a nice, real and funny woman turned into a phoney, over the top, self-absorbed woman with a teenager's personality. Suddenly she was mugging herself in the camera, she was obsessed with talking about her body, and she seemed to think of nothing else but being thinner and also showing off.

Maybe it was the change from being a soap star who got on a talk show, to being able to buy an apt Nicole Kidman owned, or being in the Hamptons with the rich and famous that changed her, but she became more and more unlikable IMO, and so over the top raunchy and insecure, to the point where she needed constant compliments.

I think Kelly is not some poor little thing being persecuted, she has changed. I also do no think that anyone can turn you into someone else. I am sure she doesn't show us all of her personality, but I also do not think she is some deep individual, who is being held back by producers.

I turn on the last hour of Today, and see Hoda who is maybe two or three years older than Kelly, and she is very real, she has intelligent comments and she actually takes the time to prepare for her job. People rag on Kelly for the most part because of the things she says and how she behaves, not becauses she is some persecuted soul acting all professinal IMO.

Exactly how I feel/felt. Kelly isn't like she used to be when she was enjoyable, and the opinions of her now reflect that. I'd say nobody wants to hear an ultra-rich person poor mouthing, same with a skinny person talking about being fat, or a mother badmouthing her kids, or flat out lying. That's where all my criticism comes from and why she's not enjoyable anymore.

But, IMO, if she would do her job well - work hard on show prep instead of just on her appearance, then we critics could be written off as haters. Instead, she hands it to us on a silver platter. It's like she doesn't even care about doing a good job.

Sometimes I find Kelly downright annoying, but then sometimes I found Regis downright annoying too, but for the most part I really find her funny and enjoy watching her. I tend not to notice all the little mannerisms that seem to grate on some nerves.

I don't focus on mannerisms, I can't stand the fact that IMO she is unprepared, can't interview, is fake, talks about bathroom habits and sex all the time, and seems to be very insecure and self-aborbed to the pont that she obsesses over her boobs and weight like a 13 year old, and all of her co-hosts have to reassure her she is supposedly sexy and has a hot bod., at least that is what I see.

Her behavior with Carrie Ann on FF , throwing tampons at her male producer and talking about how big she is down there after having kids - even though she had 3 c-sections, was embarrasing. Would she like one of her kids to click the website and see that? Or her need to tell Jimmy Kimmel about Micheal's masturbation habits on national tv is what makes me think she is better suited for reality tv.

Who knows, maybe they all talk like that at home. Very open and without filters in front of the kids and others. Maybe that is her true self and she was acting or using a filter back in her earlier years with Regis. If so, no wonder The Jersey Shore show appeals to her and Mark Consuelos, her husband. Perhaps, her Mother reprimands her behaviour and her in-laws are more crass and just fit in quite well.

I don't think Kelly cares if people think she is doing a good job or not. She's getting paid bucketloads of money regardless of how badly she performs. IMO she strikes me as someone who if being criticized she would think the person doing the criticizing is wrong. The people on her team (Gelman, her publicist etc)who keep pushing all these articles about her and the show are not doing her any favors. One day Live is going to end for Kelly and I think her only prospects for another on-camera job would be a reality show. And honestly once she no longer is a talk show host with national exposure I don't see too many viewers tuning in to watch her and Mark do what I'm not sure. I mean what would their gimmick be?

Oh, for sure. And not only would she think that the criticizer was wrong, but she'd also think 'they're just jealous' like so many of the other annoying and frequently criticized women on tv do just because they also happen to be skinny & blonde. Ugh.

See Hasslebeck E. as an example of this.

Based on what I have observed since the day Kellme joined Live, it appears that she chose to reinvent herself. I thought it was a mistake when they hired her but evidently she lucked out with the ABC policy of shifting people arond at that particular time. It seemed to me that she was a bit of a show off all the way back to the psychic who "announced" her preganany. We also got some really big hints from Clay Aiken and Priscilla Presley as to who Kellme really is. Not to mention the lack of respect she treated Regis and Art with as well as her fixation with reality stars and aging, old pop stars. Then along came The Hamptons. That's when I noticed the constant name dropping. Kellme liked to pretend she was blown away by the insipid celebrity parties she and Markie attended, but it was obvious to me that the transformation from Kelly Ripa to Kellme the bragging, pretentious little fella was in full swing. While her mannersims are annoying and ripe for snark, her inability to do a job for which she had on the job training with the best in the business is inexcusable. I do not happen to think her behavior is cute or funny. In fact, I find it offensive that skilled, capable people lose jobs yet ABC Disney allows this twit to sit in a high chair umming her way through chat about pissing in pools, teenagers masturbating, her nipples, her cooch, men waxing their genitals, her ratstentions, etc, etc... During a time when people struggle to find a minimum wage job, ABC is paying millions of dollars to a grown woman who cannot conduct an interview. Needless to say, I refuse to tolerate the reruns. Those shows were bad enough the first time, but I watch so I can write with the hope that Kellme Ripa-a-show-to-shreds will be replaced or fired.

Don't forget how appallingly rude she was to Tom Hanks when he said that he saw himself on the cover of TIME magazine for the first time on Live with Regis and Kathie Lee. Kelly insolently replied that the show is called Live with Regis and Kelly now, and she had been there for 9 years. She even had the nerve to say, "You'll catch on eventually." WTF??

Tom graciously apologized, except, he wasn't wrong. His first TIME magazine cover occurred when the show was Live with Regis and Kathie Lee. I'm guessing he was too much of a gentleman to put the moron in her place.

And she couldn't resist getting in another dig at Tom before the interview was over. When they were talking about the Oscars she said, "I guess you didn't win last year."

Nope. He appeared on Time in 2010 for the first time. Thats why he said it during that interview, he said he saw his picture on Time magazine for the first time backstage on..Regis and Kathie Lee. I thought it was hilarious that she gave it right back. What was she supposed to do? Regis loved it too if you watch it back and he definitely took up for her. He kept digging at him the whole interview. I love Tom but he definitely had it coming!

Kelly showed her true colors with Tom Hanks. He made an honest mistake. He apologized, but Kelly couldn't accept it. She had to insult him about not winning an Oscar that year. This from a woman who couldn't even win a daytime Emmy for her soap acting days, had a failed sitcom, and prepared for hosting an Oscar show by getting botox and extensions! Tom was big years before Kelly ever came on Live. He won his first Oscar in 1994, and had several nomininations and another Oscar before Kelly came on the show.

I am trying to figure out what he did that would justify nsults, except Kelly has an insecure ego. From what I see, she can't even remember her own stories which are supposedly real, and didn't see one movie that was nominated for an Oscar, so IMO she should get over herself and not insult a man who won Oscars, and didn't purposely insult her. Then again, she pribably has not seen any of Tom's.work, since it involves real talent, and he isn't working with her idols like Snookie or JWow!

IMO she is a classless, no talent twit, and I think eventually she will turn more and more people off. It's comical that she even feels she can insult any real actor when they can't find a permanent co-host because they need someone to carry the show, any everyone who is busy with other jobs

Well I am thinking he may have just misspoke since the show was Regis and Kathie Lee for 14 years! Regis would do it too! Maybe it was wishful thinking! No matter what, Kelly was rude and disrespectful, Tom was not. Kelly just showed her true classless, egotistical, and insecure personality IMO. I don't think it's funny, but Regis tried to make light of it and have fun with it . It is interesting that Regis still hangs with Gelman and KL but not Kelly. I don't think it's an age thing, Gelman is 30 years younger and also has small children.

I am thinking the co-host search is going to go on a long time, but not by choice. Gelman is putting a good spin on a situation that seems difficult IMO. When he listed the qualifications of the new co-host I had to laugh. Why would anyone need to be so qualified when they have a woman who has 11 years of experience, and is collecting 20 million a year to host. ( Yes, I read that she is now makes that salary). I also do not see any experienced broadcaster wanting to play second fiddle to a woman who can barely spit out a story or read a cue card or article printed out for her, and whose idea of conversation is boob talk, waxing her crotch, pooping, peeing, tampons and her son masturbating.

And I can't see Kelly's ego handling a person who is that good, since they would be the star, no matter if her picture is flashing all over the studio ( talk about tacky- I don't see Ellen or even Rosie when she had a show, having the face flashing all over the walls! ). I think we'd see real Kelly who showed herself with Tom Hanks.

BTW there are pics of Kelly and Markie in Venice online on some private boat. Good to see she was able to overcome her horrible agoraphobia to take her third vacation in 8 months! . Funny thing is, she doesn't even look anxious on the pictured of er vacations. Maybe she can talk Gelman into having a show where she shares the secrets of overcoming her debilitating condition !

Totally agree about Kellme's obnoxious behavior to Tom Hanks. Through all her years "in the business" she has yet to keep her rabbit ears in check; if she disagrees with someone's take on her she will rip them a new one Jersey style and take no prisoners. We've seen her rants on the show, on Fashion-Blunder as well as with her guests, Clay, Priscilla and Tom. A true professional can put their feelings aside and remain professional withought insulting someone.

About today's repeat, was MARK CONSUELOS!!! wearing a tourniquet around his biceps? Dear God, that was the most ill-fitting shirt I've ever seen on a man. In macho-Mark's effort to display his physique, he looked positively ridiculous in that shirt. Maybe he borrowed Quino's, lol.

Glad I missed the original airing of this mess but did notice today that Kellme encouraged the trivia caller to "say hello to MARK CONSUELOS!!!!!" Once again, who introduces people like this, particularly one's spouse?

And Gelman is so desperate to keep Kellme's inadequacies in check, he spent almost 10 minutes at the end of today's show recapping Monday through Thursday? Unheard of! What a hot mess this show is, even in the magificent Hawaii they can't even get it right.

Kellme's idea of doing the show is yelling, "Aloha, Mahalo (sp) and saying it all over again, and again peppered with lots of "oh my goshes!!"

I also noticed she could not have done more to build up her man's ego. I get being supportive, but really Kellme.....it's almost degrading the way she fawned over him.

Wardrobe most probably picked out a traditional Hawaiin patterned looser fitting shirt for Mark Consuelos but his inner voice told him that the solid light pink colour would flatter his darker tan skin and the slim fit would flatter his arms. Forget about the show or the theme but then he felt bad for being so selfish that he probably decided to rub some local macadamia nut oil on his biceps.

Tom Hanks is one of the few actors with a pristine reputation for being a truly decent and nice person. What I find amusing about Kellme is how she "sorts out" people. She's rude to Clay, Priscilla, Tom, Regis, Art; yet she kisses Snookie's ass. Let's not forget her good buddy Andy (who is perhaps a valued job contact). I can't think of anyone on television who has more air time and less talent than Kellme. It's really ashame ABC promotes this crap fest and refuses to replace her.

That was something Regis was great at doing when Kelly had her "incidents" involving other celebrities. I miss him.

I doubt "self deprecating" is in Kellme's limited vocabulary. This all begs the question as to why ABC thinks they are fooling people who can clearly see that Kellme does not have the skill required to host this show. I honestly cannot think of one good reason for them not to fire her.

I didn't see it originally so I watched the Hawaii repeat today, and how funny is it that that the CC I forgot to turn off named Markie as "Mark Sanchez." Despite her usual heels, he looked about an inch taller than her.
Speaking of Botox, a story on my homepage reported that when Kelly's kids tell her that she looks like she is frowning, she runs off to get a shot. Maybe they're just trying to get rid of her. How soon before she stops with the gigantic smiles, either through trying to keep wrinkle-free or sheer inability?
