I saw the episode where Spongebob first learns about Christmas from Sanday and brings it to Bikini Bottom.

"Santa's coming tonight, tonight, Santa's coming tonight..."

Re: Mermaid Man's bikini top, I prefer to call it by the SNL name (which predated the Seinfeld ep by a few years, at least). It's the Man-Bra, "for the brawny, brawny man!"

The first new Spongebob cartoon in a very long time (and, one assumes, a one-off special) ran on Nickelodeon this week. In Cartoon #1, Plankton summons an army of his plankton relatives to finally get the Krabby Patty recipe from Mr. Krabs, and in Cartoon #2 Spongebob frantically searches for his lost nametag.

Ahh, Plankton. If it weren't for Patrick, he'd be my favorite hands-down. I love it in Snowball Effect when he's getting covered in snow, and says "I wish to rule you!"

I loved Spongebob's "Soiled it! Soiled it! Soiled it! Soiled it!"

"Doesn't this thing have an off button?" "I command you to stop that!"

Just remember POOP!

Hee! People Order Our Patties!

For some reason, in that episode, when SpongeBob uses the scissors to cut off that protruding zit/welt on his nose always grosses me out.

How awesome is it that my Legal Accounting professor referenced Mr. Crabs today? Everyone was like What?? Yay, I totally got it!!

Thanks, Sponge Bob.

I just hopped on the SpongeBob bandwagon. I love this show very much but I noticed that some shows vary wildly in terms of quality. Sometimes, this cartoon is perfect and other times it's merely average. What's going on?

Dear Dog, are you referring to the quality of the storylines on the show? Because I can see that. There are some episodes that are absolutely hilarious and that I love no matter how many times that I've seen them, and some that I don't like at all.

I think it depends on who is in the storylines (I love Plankton, Mr. Krabs, Patrick, and Squidward, but don't like Sandy) and how silly the plot is (if it is more realistic and cleverly mirrors real life, it's funnier to me, but if it's over-the-top silly, I don't like it as much).

Okay, I cannot be the only person who loved last night's episode. A break dancing caveman, a crying wooden club, prehistoric Mr. Krab getting eaten, and the nonsensical language all made for a fantastic episode. Tobanga do, indeed.

OK, I can agree with that. I love Patrick, Squidward and Mr. Krab.

Note: all live-action "Spongebob" sequences with Tom Kenny in a pirate costume are lame and not funny. But I guess we can't complain if we get a new cartoon.

WORD.

I briefly tuned into the new episode last Friday. I caught a glimpse of SpongeBob in a unibrow, babbling some nonsensical language. It didn't make sense, so I flipped to the next channel.

Eh, the caveman ep was a bit much for me. I agree that some SB episodes are fantastically hilarious while others are just "Huh? When is the funny coming?"

But that said, I'm intensely looking forward to the movie.

I think the show is best when it combines over-the-top moments with genuinely witty moments. Can't think of an example off the top of my head, what with it being 7:30 in the morning, but I think that's the recipe for a good SB ep.

But there are some eps that are mostly over-the-top but still funny, IMO. Like "Bubble Stand", which had Patrick laughing insanely for a good minute after Spongebob blew a large bubble in the shape of an elephant. Me and my brother frequently assault our parents with that kind of laughter whenever they annoy us.

I just found the Spongebob thread, yay! I love this show. I'm so glad it took off the way it did. I've been a fan since it was still quite new (about 4 years or so ago). I remember telling all my friends and family to watch the show, and they all thought it (and I) were weird. How I laugh that they are all fans now!

Two years ago, when the merchandise was starting to take off, I was a senior in hihg school and during Homecoming Week we had Pajama Day. I decked out in Spongebob PJs and carried a huge stuffed/pillow Spongebob. Our picture has its own page in my senior yearbook.

However, my favorite Spongebob memory comes from my first summer(2002) that I worked as a camp counselor. My "crew color" was yellow so my mascot was Spongebob. None of the other counselors liked the show, but of course all the campers did, so I became their favorite counselor and they loved to have me lead the theme song during song times.

The last week of camp, the kids were especially into Spongebob and I was dubbed the leader of the Spongebob Cult. The last night, during the dance, the counselor who was acting as DJ played the theme song. I was in the middle of the dance floor surrounded by 200 twelve year olds jumping up and down yelling along with the theme song--it was so much fun, but I think it freaked some of the other adults out a little.

Oh my God, I love that one. "Forty lashes!" Hee.

I love the one where Patrick and Spongebob try to sell the chocolate and get swindled. Any episodes where Patrick plays a large role always end up to be some of my favorites.

jcpdiesel21, it's in the episode where Spongebob's pet snail leaves him, and he's trying to figure out why. At one point, he says "Do I o-fend?!" Hee.

So I recently lifeted the Nickelodeon ban for my 6 1/2 year old and she has become OBSESSED with SpongeBob. I have to admit that there are episodes that I have grown to love and laugh at (P.O.O.P. and the Jellyfish, especially), but I *cannot* suspend my reality enough to not get totally pissed that an underwater dwelling creature seems to get "wet" in everyother episode and balloon up to a humongous size. HE"S ALWAYS WET! Drives me crazy, people...

Then not only will you hate the one where he makes a campfire like ubi pointed out, but wait till you see the ones where they go to the beach and take bubble baths!

Plus that episode where Spongebob has to write an essay, then falls asleep and dreams that his pineapple house catches on fire.

I thought it was pretty absurd at first, too, but really, this is a cartoon about a talking seasponge who works in an underwater fastfood restaurant. :)

I always hated the lack of realism in The Flintstones. Everyone knows that cavemen and dinosaurs didn't live at the same time, and if the did dinosaurs couldn't have been domesticated and used as work animals/appliances. And I bet the cavemen didn't speak english either!
