This is regarding the Scott Patterson/Lauren Graham "not getting along" gossip in the Media thread. A friend of mine was in a play with Lauren in the Williamstown Theatre Festival a few summers back and she said that Lauren did not get along with her leading man, Tate Donovan, at all. They fought constantly and apparently they had some kind of history... Everyone else liked her a lot but, I think this episode might have translated to Lauren getting a bit of a rep for not getting along with her leading men.

As an aside, the girl who plays Janet was also at Williamstown that summer. Small world.

I have only seen 3 interviews (2 Letterman, Conan) Lauren has done (uploaded on a GG site) and on all 3 she was like an electrfied cat. She was twitching, jumping in her seat, rubbing her legs and to be honest a bit ditzy. She was making me twitchie just watching her. She came across as way too nervous and trying too hard to be funny. It surprised me because you would think she would employee some of the techniques they teach actors on how to relax before a performance. Then again maybe she just comsumes too much cafeine. I love Lauren and I guess I really expected her to come across a bit more intellegent than she did.

Yoyoelizabeth, I wonder what kind of history Lauren has with Tate?

I also remember reading (Ted Casablanca again) that one of the leading lovlies of GG hated one of her main acting buddies because he got more mail and was liked more than she was. Now I don't know if this was Lauren or Alexis.

I like the way she acts in interviews. I think she seems like fun. And a person doesn't have to be sedate in order to come off as intelligent, IMO.

Lauren also came off as twitchy to me in the interviews I've seen with her. Maybe she was just nervous or doesn't interview well, but watching her made me uncomfortable for her.

Healing Fish, I agree. I felt very uncomfortable for her. Watching her made me want to look her in the eyes and tell her everything was going to be ok...just relax a little honey.

Janie Jones, Lauren does seem like a fun person and I'm sure she is (remember, I love her too). I also agree you don't have to be sedate to come across as being intellegent. However, you do have to be able to string coherant sentences together to complete your communication. And in the interviews I saw (they must have been her early ones) she came across as a spastic ditz. You couldn't follow her line of conversation and as someone who posted earlier said, she ummed and ahhed her way through her interviews. Living in NZ, I only get to see her interviews when kind and loving people upload them, so I have not seen her recent appearances.

It always seemed to me that she's umming and ahhing for comedic effect (whether it is or isn't funny is another matter). I guess I know enough people that are like that, where we have conversations like the ones she has on talk shows, that it doesn't really make that big a difference to me. I mean, you can completely understand what she's talking about when she's speaking.

I've never thought that Lauren comes off as a ditz, but she does usually seem extremely nervous. I usually find myself wishing she would calm down a little bit, because it seems like if she were just a little more comfortable, she'd be extremely funny and charming (not that she isn't funny and charming anyway).

I also feel that Lauren comes across as just extremely nervous in interviews. I've recently seen very early interviews (with Letterman) where, yes, she appears to be the electrified cat who cannot put a thought together. It was painful to watch, and I usually stop watching half-way. She seems to have improved a bit on the nighttime talk-show circuit but she is still very nervous. Then I see her in regular interview situations, and she is calm, intelligent, and well-spoken. I just watched TV Revolution on "Maids, Mothers, and Something Or others" (sorry). She had a considerable amount of air-time giving her take on women in TV from Lucy to Lorelai, and she showed no signs of nervousness. I also saw her on the View a while back, and again she was calmer than usual and very intelligent.

Maybe she just doesn't like or is scared of the night-time talk shows.

Yeah, I saw that too. She had some very insightful comments. I have never thought that Lauren seems ditzy, just nervous. But I find the nervousness to be completely endearing. I saw her most recent appearance on Conan (less than 1 month ago) and she seemed completely relaxed. I think that she just needed to get used to being on talk shows. After all, not everyone is predisposed to being able to talk about themselves to all of America.

A little off topic, but I just found out that Lauren has a production company called Good Game. Does anybody know anything about it or what they have or are going to produce?

I wouldn't be surprised if she showed up in the credits as a producer on Gilmore next season.

That it was Ted reporting makes me take this with a grain of salt. Both he and Kristin kinda suck at reliable intel.

She was on that? Damn. I watched the first hour, which was about gays on TV, but then decided to skip the second hour in favor of hitting the forums. Stupid, stupid me. I'm gonna have to watch out for reruns of it now.

ETA:I just checked tvguide.com and for anyone else who might have missed it and be interested in seeing it, TV Revolution, "Maids, Babes and Mothers" will be rerun:
Monday (today): 8PM
Tuesday: 12PM
Friday: 9PM
Saturday: 4PM
Sunday: 2PM

smrou, thanks for the update on the additional airings of that episode...what channel is that?

Also, I don't know if everyone here has seen the "Welcome to the Gilmore Girls" extra on the S1 DVDs, but Lauren does speak quite a bit in this behind-the-scenes look and while, yes, it's taped and edited, there is this bit at the end while they roll the credits where she's making a shout-out to any die-hard fans who may have noticed the tray of nuts in their living room that's been there since S1. It was funny, because I was wondering if she was actually going to eat one, and I think she was daring someone (Daniel Palladino?) to try one? It did seem like nervous energy, but maybe that's just the way she is when she's being spontaneous, tripping over her words and gesticulating wildly. Man, I wonder what she'd be like on "Whose Line Is It Anyway?"...I wonder if she stays away from improv?

I think that ended up being about "Crossing Jordan" (Jerry O'Connell was getting more mail than Jill Hennessey) and not "GG." Although I bet Milo and Jared certainly got/get a ton of fan mail.

Damn, that’s one appearance I won’t be able to see. Maybe some kind person can put it online?

I just re-watch the finale. Lauren is simply amazing. I loved the table scene. I know what’s going to happen but I still LOL every single time. Her timing is so impeccable that I can’t spot the set up even after repeated viewing. How difficult was it to pull off the double hit on the door? She was simply pitch perfect throughout the episode. I better stop gushing now or I’ll turn into adianspencer. :)

I thought that it was absolutely hilarious. It's practically my favorite part of the entire DVD set. The way she presents it is so absolutely Lorelai.

"Lorelai, Rory, give us some more decorating tips...Yes, a four-year-old acorn. Why? Who came up with that? I don't know. And, this one, someone gnawed on it." It was hilarious.

I saw the TV Revolution ep last night and was sort of disappointed that they didn't mention GG more (but I guess I'm biased and any amount wouldn't have been enough), though it was nice to see LG chime in every once in a while about the different TV characters throughout the years. It is ironic that Murphy Brown caused so much national controversy about the definition of a "traditional" family, and now an organization called the Family Friendly Forum (is that right?) basically helped fund and launch this TV series about a single mom who got pregnant in high school and chose not to get married. Take that, Mr. Quayle!

Delurking to say that I saw a preview on Bravo for their new season of Celebrity Poker, and Lauren is going to be on it. At the end of the preview, a few celebrity faces flash in the four corners of the screen and you see them while they're playing. Lauren is in the top left corner in a green dress. I believe they show her right after Matthew Perry, but I'm not sure. Does anyone know when her particular episode will air?

So, I recently became a fan of the Gilmore Girls and got myself a wee bit obsessed. Oh, and in my part of Canada wee means gargantuan.
Anyhoo, I downloaded all the Lauren interviews I could find and I must say I find her so endearing. The first time she was on Ellen I nearly died laughing. She was telling this story of how she would drive on the lots of the set on her bike and refuse to adhere to the security-type-people's laws and my lord, it was hilarious.
It was then that I fell in love with Lauren Graham the person, as opposed to the character she portrays.
Then while reading through all of yous guysis comments someone mentioned that she was on the Townies (so..that may be wrong..but it feels so right) and then I remembered that I loved her then as well. As she and I were brunettes and I felt a certain ambiance of companionship. Mind you, I was 11 or 12 at the time....
Anyhoo, the point of the matter is that I think she's so swell and while I was at work today (I'm a hostess at a restaurant) I daydreamed that she came to my restaurant and I had to seat her...no word of lie the wind was knocked out of me because I was that ...stoked, if you will, at the mere daydream of her.
Cause she's like, my hero and stuff.
...So the real point is that I wanted to post of my affections for her and not feel like a lame-o...and here I am.
My name is Amy...and I adore Lauren Graham.

Thank you for the links. And if anyone else has any more links please share them.

It is really rough being a fan in a country where the only American talk shows they air are Ricky Lake, Dr Phil, and always my fav Oprah. But Oprah does not always have celebs on and by the time we get the see the show it is months even a year old.
