Is it me, or is the appearance of the video a couple of shades...less blue? Bizarre. I don't know which version I like better

Wow, girl you were drunk - unless he's a skank. He looks better in real life? So he nice or a jerk? How did he get the name Baby Bash anyway?
I don't know if he's a jerk or not, I don't know him, just see him around alot. He's pretty popular around here. I don't know where the name Baby Bash came from, I do know he changed it from Baby Beesh though. I figured it's probably because he has a baby face.
Frankie J has a very sweet-sounding voice, even though in most shots of the video he looks like a wrinkly little baby or an old man (I think it's the absence of hair).
KikiMets, I think that is why I can't watch the video, Frankie J does look really wierd in it. I was surprised I liked he's voice. When he first left Kumbia Kings, I thought it was the wrong move. But now hearing his cd, I'm thinking leaving was a good thing. He was just background for Kumbia Kings so you didn't really get to hear him.

I don't know why I know this, but I believe the original song was "pass the kutchie." Kutchie meaning marijuana. But since the song was remade by a bunch of children (Musical Youth), they changed it to "dutchie" which was a cooking pot.
But hey. I guess dutchie can mean weed. Afterall, Missy Elliot has extensive musical knowledge that she's gotten from her Casio.
Also, in Sean Paul's "gimme the light," I could be wrong, but I believe he's saying "Gimme the light and pass the 'dro." Dro being short for weed laced with hydrochloric acid.
As for the "Hey Ya" video. I was sick of it and the song the first time I saw it. I was more impressed the first time I saw it eight years ago when it was done by Weezer.
For the past few years, I've felt like I've been living in Bizarro world where people like Missy Elliot and Outcast are considered musical geniuses. Sorry Andre, but as hard as you try, you will never be Parliament Funkadelic. George Clinton created better songs on crack than you ever will in your lifetime.

Regarding Nelly Furtado, I just wanted to clarify I don't have a problem with her singing about her heritage or ethnicity. I just thought it was a little odd, since there's never been an extremely large Portuguese population in the U.S. and what few there are have long since assimilated into the larger "white" culture.
Going back a bit, I wanted to mention that the Portuguese population in southeast Massachusetts is still very much alive and reasonably separate from the greater culture. It's a way of life that's disappearing, but my grandparents rented to, rented from, employed, were friends with, went to church services conducted by, went to restaurants run by, and were buried by other Portuguese and Portuguese-Americans. That was their life, and it wasn't that long ago.
My father and I recently visited the old home town (Fall River!) to purchase some traditional foods and encounted a full-fledged saint's procession. Kids and adults of all ages, dressed in their Sunday best, carrying various statues to a church.

I thought "dro" was short for hydroponic? That's how I've always taken it, at any rate. Why would somebody want to put HCl on their weed? That would be terrible. Then again, I knew a girl who used to voluntarily take roofies, so I guess there's a drug for everybody.
Veering back on topic, am I the only person who learned how to do the Steve Martin from EPMD's "You Gots Ta Chill" video? I am? Crap, forget I mentioned it, then.

As you can see, my experience with marijuana or any type of drugs is non-existent. LOL. That's why I said I could be wrong. I thought it was weird that Sean Paul would be singing about hydrochloric acid and marijuana, but there are people who put formaldehyde in joints, so what the heck.I thought "dro" was short for hydroponic? On topic: Anyone else disappointed with Kelis' video "Milkshake?" I was just expecting more of a punk, campy type video rather than the typical boring, Beyonce greased up soft porn vid. I know they used the same director for this one. But I know Kelis made another Milkshake video prior to this one and her label was unhappy with it. Hence the Jake Nava direction.
I miss that crazy pink-haired, pink eyebrowed girl who was shouting through my t.v. I hope her label isn't pushing her to be more like Beyonce. I really liked Kelis' uniqueness.

I'm glad you mentioned that, cos when I was reading this upthread I was wondering if I was the only one who thought they were referring to a cooking pot. That was definitely the explanation given out at the time (in pop gospel Smash Hits magazine) and I was too young then to be looking for any double meaning or drugs references. Not so much now.But since the song was remade by a bunch of children (Musical Youth), they changed it to "dutchie" which was a cooking pot.

Yeah, I think that was Patrick and he actually died a few years ago.[/things I learn from Pop Up Video] Also, the Sonic/Musical Youth confusion is still cracking me up.He wore a red sweatshirt and blue jeans (and I think he had a pick in his hair) and he sang the solo part that everyone (at least in my neighborhood) loved to sing: "You really, make me wanna jump around -- you really really make me..." -- okay I may not have the lyrics right either.
I hate Babs with a passion, but she doesn't look half bad in that makeover picture. She has nice cheekbones. And I was wondering if Da Band was going to put another video out, or if Piddy already grew tired of them.
And for some reason, Milkshake kept popping up in conversation during New Year's. Nobody else seemed to remember that the new ass-crack showing Kelis is the same rainbow colored haired woman who sang Caught Out There. Also, what's going on with Kelis' pants in Milkshake? Up top, they look like jeans, but they're so tight, the bottom looks like leg warmers. Really, its not cute.

Dear lord Ambystone, say it ain't so! He died? Man. I wonder how. He was cute. I feel.... old (and that Sonic/Musical Youth confusion on my part didn't help my feelings of dilapidation).
Speaking of Kellis, I heard her entire cd and was actually disappointed (although I like Milkshake). Kinda hopin' she gets that Grammy for Milkshake though.

I saw a New Kids on the Block video on VH1 Classic the other day. That's really sad and depressing (that I'm old!)
I can't believe they are using Blind Melon in a Pepsi commercial. How disappointing!

On the "Hey Ya" video from a page or so back... I have hated that song since it came out (even though I love "The Way You Move" to pieces and still crank the radio up for it). I can't stand "Hey Ya." Everything about it just bugs and I don't know why.
She said the first one was very cartoonish and silly (I guess much more than the second one.)
Now I want to see the original one, because I think the one that's out is pretty damn cartoony. What is her standard of bad?
That said, I heard "Killing Me Softly" on the top 40 radio station today and it reminded me of how much I liked that song.

Having downloaded the original edit...it's interesting. First, she gets a milkshake from Nas, then she and the neighborhood kids are dancing and shaking things and then she's walking down a street WITH FLAT HAIR and some ugly shit on and the guys playing basketball follow her and she gyrates on the fence then she's for some reason on a street corner and her skirt gets blown up and she keeps spilling that damn milkshake and then there's a car that bounces and she's writhing around on that then she's licking the milkshake off her and agh!
Trust me, greased-up, ass cracked out kelis is much much better.

"George, where the hell are you, man?"
"I dunno...somewhere in Vegas...got so drunk...oh, and I married Britney Spears and I dunno how the hell I did it!"
"[pause]Uncle Leo?"
"Jerry? Bottom of my heart? Rot in hell! [hangs up]"
"Eh, that's a shame."
So...any chance the honeymoon video will go online? I mean, I get enough Paris Hilton spam as it is.

If true, that's hilarious. How drunk was she?
Hee! Seriously, I live about 30 minutes or so from her hometown. That guy she married goes to my college and his name is so damn familiar. I'm pretty sure he also went to high school with a few guys I know. I'm surprised I didn't hear this sooner, especially how word gets out like wildfire about stuff like this in the town I live in. I can't wait to find out what his friends have to say about this! My guess is that it's a publicity stunt. I just can't see them to be capable of functoining enough to go out and get a marriage license and then to the chapel. Not to mention without someone thinking there was anything seriously wrong with that picture.
That said, I don't like her video.

I think everyone around her pretty much have to go along with what she wants. It sounds like one of those drunken mistakes. The dancer she was with went back to his pregnant wife just a month ago, so she's probably pretty messed up about that, plus her album sales (at 2 million) are pretty bad considering who she is. In fact, I think Hillary Duff's album is selling better--that would be enough to drive someone to drink. It's all pretty sad really. She seems to be going down the Drew Barrymore road of relationships.

On topic, some crazy rock band has remade "Darling Nikki" by Prince (I think that was the name of the song) SFC, it's awful. There are only a handful of songs that I think shouldnt be remade. That is one of them.

No, no, no, they went to the church first, then were told they couldn't marry without a license so they had to then go to city hall then back to the chapel. These 2 idiots had some serious time to call off the "joke" as her people are calling it.
Word Infinity! Somebody was sober enough to do the paperwork. Twit!

The Foo Fighters. I agree, the song is disgusting and I can't believe some of the lines are allowed to be on the radio. Plus it's just not....musical.

Haha. Jokes.Apparently, Britney's already back to her single status
Anyway, when is Britney bringing out a new video? I'm getting mighty sick of seeing Madonna gyrating on the floor. She ruins a perfectly good cheesy pop video with her gap-toothed presence.

Saw this on the news last night. I think this is hilarious. I'm still convinced she was on something, she may have not been drunk but high as a frickin kite. Jesus P Christ. Well as of tomorrow she's an unmarried woman.
Justin must have had a heart attack when he heard the news. When she kissed Madonna he looked ready to punch someone so I can't imagine what his reaction was to this. *cackles* I want a Justin quote, which may end up being more hilarious than the whole situation. And I imagine Britney's first quote to be "We were just having a little fuuuun!" *snort*
So is there a video for Toxic yet? It's also official that I can't stand Me Against the Music anymore. No.more.

I love the Foo Fighters. I respect them and hell, I even love Dave Grohl. However there is a very fine line between love and hate and these guys are inching towards it. No one, I repeat, no one should ever remake a Prince song. I don't care how old the song is, don't touch it. There should be a listing of artists and songs that should never be remade.(Led Zepplin, Prince, Stevie Wonder, etc. I can't tell you how many artists I wish I could line up and bitchslap because of this.)
As for the Britney fiasco, she's dying for publicity any shape or form. She can't outsing Christina, she lacks Justin's credibility, and having Madonna in her video showed how much talent she truly lacked. I'm waiting for the Playboy photospread to appear soon. Y'all know that with all that she's been wearing now, it's inevitable.
And I will be rolling my eyes to see what she ripped off from Madonna and Janet Jackson. The Making The Video for Toxic will premiere on January 13.

if this was all a joke, couldn't Britney or Jason say to the other, "hah, you just got punk'd!"..or better yet, have the preacher say it after he removes his disguise and reveals he's Ashton Kutcher?
Or maybe she wanted some fantasy that she was marrying Justin in Vegas after all?
Whatever it is, she is in no shape to kickoff a concert tour if she's going off the deep end like this. I don't know if you could compare this to Mariah Carey's TRL striptease, but maybe Christina Aguilera was right when she claimed Britney was a "lost soul".
