It's really interesting to note that Parting Gifts is only two episodes before this one. I love that Wesley's integrated into the group so quickly, a lot of which I'm sure is due to everyone's history on the Hellmouth.
I agree. And Wesley doesn't become an official member of "Angel Investigations" until the next episode after "Expecting
." It's in the episode of "She
," where following Cordelia's party, Angel realizes that Wesley is broke, and offers him a job. In typical Cordelia fashion, she is (at first) happy for Wesley, then asks Angel if she has to take a pay cut, and when he says no, she is (again) happy for Wesley, and the fact that they are now a team.
That, along with the Angel dance, at the beginning and the end of "She
" are the only worthwhile moments of the episode. I have tried so hard, so many times, to get into this episode. And I just can't. I think a lot of it has to do with the actress who plays the warrior princess, along with the fact that she is difficult to understand, and the fact that she and David Boreanaz have zero chemistry. It's hard to believe that David Greenwalt co-wrote this episode, he's usually so reliable. Anyway, a big swing and a miss for me.
Finally, can't believe that when I was listing my favorite CC-centric episodes ("Parting Gifts
," and "You're Welcome
"), I left out "Rm w/a Vu
." Obviously that belongs on the list of faves, as well, for me.
