No more "At Last" or "Proud Mary." Both great songs, but they've been done to death in the auditions.

"Proud Mary" should be disallowed unless it's the Creedence Clearwater Revival version.

I'd disallow "Lately" as well. Overdone.

Hopefully all future contestants have learned that they need to stay away from "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" and "New Attitude" because:

A) those songs suck

and

B) They are CURSED!!! Just ask Tamyra, Heather, Tiara, Elizabeth, and J-Fu.

Grey Gardens, I was seriously just coming in here to post those exact two songs. They are the AI death knell, contestants! Stay far, far away from them.

Hi. I'm new here.
Anyway.. "Bad Blood" and "Jive Talkin'" were forever ruined by Josh.

Don't forget, fucking Keith sang "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" in his audition. Of course, after his rendition of "Like A Virgin", the nation blocked out everything else happening after.

I think - if these kids have an ounce of smarts (snerk) - they wouldn't ever do a song that someone did previously to great acclaim. Say Clay's Solitaire, Kim's New York State of Mind, Ruben's A Whole New World, Kelly's Stuff Like That There. You're just opening yourself up to inevitable comparisons and criticisms, maybe not from the judges, but from people on message boards or people talking to their friends. Hell, don't sing songs that Josh or Carmen or Crags wrecked, either - then people will just be laughing with the memory.

"Let's Stay Together". Ran the gamut from Justin (OK), Trenyce (Superb) to Leah (Yecch!)

"When I See You Smile". Why didn't Slimon call Matthew Mehtzger a "sheep in wolf's clothing"?

"You Keep Me Hangin' On".

Even ignoring the irony factor of the line 'set me free', there is a precedent set on this show. Anyone who sings this song the first week of finals will be eliminated. See Vanessa and Leah. While I don't really believe in curses, it's too coincidental for anyone with half a brain and knowledge of past seasons to attempt.

I second that nomination. And then I ban myself from ever mentioning that song again.

Can I get a "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me"? What about a "I Need You"?

Against All Odds should be put on the cursed song list. Sorry, future contestants, but none of you will ever do a good job with that song.

Popping this back to the front page and adding a huge "WORD" after the Kat McPheeble slaughter of this not-so-bad tune.

There are a few songs that should be retired, but just one that really needs to be packed up into a rocket and blasted into the Sun: "Unchained Melody"

How about the stupid repetition of "Had a Bad Day" as the eulogy song? I'm soooo sick of it.

I like "Bad Day" (and I think there's a pretty good chance they'll have Daniel Powter on to sing it live on the finale), but I think they should stop playing the acoustic version over the eulogy montages. So far, they've only done it for Kellie and Chris. That rendition sounds more sad, but it doesn't make me feel any worse about their respective eliminations. Stick to the original.

Last Dance seems to be a pretty cursed song for contestants too. And I'd like to propose a ban on Stevie Wonder songs. Love him, hate to hear his genius butchered.

One we haven't heard yet this season, for which I am extremely grateful: It's Raining Men. Just doesn't work for this show, and makes everyone sound terrible when it's sung.

"Hard to Handle." Let's just retire it from all reality shows involving singing already.

In light of recent rumors of what Kat will be singing top 3, I will say "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" should be retired. I hate that song for American Idol. So faux deep. Yuck.

Little Less Conversation is JPL's and everyone else should back away.

I'm so happy no one has sung Everlasting Love this season! Finally!

I want Jennifer Hudson to coldcock the next wannabe diva who goes near I Have Nothing.

This was the first song that came to mind. Unfortunately, hearing this song being mutilated on AI so often has ruined any fondness I might have had for it outside of the show.

Can I also propose a blanket ban on all Whitney Houston songs?

I'll add, lets retire all the songs Fantasia or Trenyce ever performed. No more "Chain of Fools", no more "I Have Nothing", no "Proud Mary", no "Lets Stay Together", no "I'm Every Woman"... sadly, this means that poor sweet Vonzell will cease to exist.

WORD. Chian of Fools appears more than once every season, and I am so sick of it. But if I could choose only one, it would be Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Longest, most boring song ever.

After Top 3, I feel I must add...

Open Arms. I Believe I Can Fly. Try a Little Tenderness. Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

Hell, lets grab the entire show and dump it into this forum, ne?

Does someone at 19 get double royalties every time Unchained Melody or Somewhere Over the Rainbow is sung? Those songs should be banned at every stage from the auditions through the show through the tour.
