I agree with Whoppi here-Sheri was talking about a potential ban on soda. Just because you don't want to drink it doesn't mean I shouldn't be allowed to. I think the Food Police are trying to control everything people eat and drink and with diet coke they can't trot out the obesity angle. I felt the same way in 5 year old soccer when one mom who had an obese child insisted we could not have goldfish snacks because her child wasn't supposed to eat them. Sheri is like people who just stopped smoking or people who are on a diet; they expect the world to revolve around them. Also noticed Babs had odd hair today.

I'm a bit confused by the constant attacks on Whoopie as a "know it all". Usually I see her explaining things to SHerri and sometimes Bitsy, two dames that could use a lot more education! Admittedly I don't watch very much -the show is absolutely awful - sad to see actually - I enjoyed it as recently as 4 years ago.

However, I find BW's constant interruptions to explain things that most middle school kids understand to be condescending and insulting. She often interrupts an ongoing conversation to 'clarify' things that need no clarification. She is truly insufferable, and as a senior myself, no we are not all that way.

I believe BW is giving us (seniors) all a bad name and she is seeming very very desperate at this point. The others are in it for the pay check - and in this day and age who can blame them!

Relax, enjoy life and people a bit more....there is no joy and fun on this show.

i really didn't get the idea that Sherri was trying to ban diet soda for everyone, but she just wasn't articulate enough to get her thoughts out there before the "wise" Whoopi shot her down. She is right about diet soda used in extremes, especially for diabetics. It feeds your desire for more sweets and creates a vicious cycle and the carbonation is not good for diabetics also. She should have clarified that she was speaking for herself, not the world. Also the fact that she called it "ass-par-tuh-MAY" when she first mentioned it a few days ago would reduce credulity...

I wanted Joy to say to BW "Listen you hawk all your specials endlessly. I just want to mention that this is going to be a good show tonight." Joy is infinitely better on her show - her interviews are engaging and interesting (IMO). You guys that still have current tv are missing a treat. I have Time-Warner, so I've lost Joy's show...

BaWa's hair looked better today, but her lobes still appear to be giving birth shortly!!

I'm not a good judge of make-up, but does anyone else think her eyebrows have become very Spock-like??

And, there goes our college-educated Bitsy with her "protected to the nines" (when I believe she really means to the nth degree). It absolutely AMAZES me that this woman can.not.formulate ONE COGENT SENTENCE. Her meaningless rambles are just plain tiring because she couldn't make a point if her life depended on it!!

I agree totally, dhall60. I've lost Joy's show too, as I am in Canada and don't get Current Tv. The best interview I saw all of last year was Joy interviewing Malcolm McDowell. I am not even necessarily a fan of his, it's just that the interview was so highly enjoyable. When I read people saying that her new show is even better than the old, I am sad that I am missing out.

I noticed today that Bitsy was very quiet on a hot-button issue- gun control. She did NOT want to join in on the discussion of the NRA anti-Obama ad. I gess she didn't get her talking points this morning, and wasn't sure where she stands, (or is told to stand) on this issue.

And THEN - the show was interrupted by the pres and VP talking about gun control. I bet Bitsy scrambles to get those talking points before tomorrow's show.

Hasselbeck has used this same mixed metaphor before, rather recently actually. And this idiot does not even learn from her mistakes.

Nine years in the same job.
In broadcasting.

I know you have to make time for Oprah's pal, Gayle King, but that was an insulting waste of Christoph Waltz's (and the viewer's) time. At this point we KNOW what Django Unchained is about--ask the man more specific questions about making it, not regurgitated crap questions even a high-school newspaper would reject.

I'm guessing that Bitsy's "opinions" on the gun issue are being fed to her, like practically all the current events opinions she spouts. She looked genuinely shaken by the tragedy the Monday after, and seemed to be behind sensible gun control provisions. Well, someone got to her, because the day after, she started screaming about how the real problem is, we don't have G*d in our schools. And now, this nonsense about arming teachers (I guess secular schools aren't the problem, after all.)

I usually give people passes for awkward word choice - I succomb to that on occasion - but as pointed out below, this is her profession and she gets paid a lot to do it. Another recent gem was how she talked about a "ton" of soldiers returning from Afghanistan. I guess she's weighed them all. It's a shame ABC has never put her through any training to modulate her voice, too. That's something that can be improved with help as well.

Perfect description Bossa Nova. I love it.

I'm guessing Bitsy styled the Nashville actress today. Good grief, it looked like they share the same closet.

On shoe patrol I was loving Gayle King's shoes. And Bitsy really really really, needs to buy a different pair. She's been wearing those same brown suede pumps since last summer. If they are going to design a set to show off shoes then they should pay some attention to their footwear. Or maybe that's just how I roll.

The way these morons (well, except Whoopi who kept her mouth shut as usual) treated Christoph Waltz I'd think they had never met someone from another country before. And I cracked up when Babs kept marveling how unrecognizable he was without a beard and then asked him if he likes being recognized. Oh Babs, you are such a pro.

And poor Gayle, everytime she comes on this shit show they treat her as an Oprah stand-in. 98% of the interview was about Oprah and her big interview with Lance Armstrong. [Get over it already Babs] Meanwhile, when they finally let Gayle talk about her own gig on the CBS Morning Show (or whatever it's called) Babs let her know she never watches and wouldn't be watching because of GMA. Again, what a gracious pro.

The fact that no one has corrected Elisabeth in the way she uses "the nines" tells me either no one cares enough about her to prevent her from looking like an imbecile or she has surrounded herself with "yes" people and they tell her how great she is. It does truly boggle the mind that she is still employed as an on-air personality who is allowed to speak.

Just once I would like Gayle King to be a guest and not be asked about Oprah. The woman has her own career and accomplishments but yet everyone still sees her as Oprah's best friend. Although I do have to say I would love for Barbara to go on some show and be asked "so tell me what Joy's really like."

I didn't record it, so I don't know the exact words, but there was a strange exchange. BW said something like "you KNOW what I think of Oprah", and Gayle replied "and Oprah thinks the same of you." It was said in sweet voices, with smiles, but it struck me that there was more than one way to interpret the words.

Then she advocates the teachers all having guns, does this woman have a working brain cell?

short answer - NO. Bitsy does not have a working brain cell.

I wonder if the show will address the right wing conspiracy theory, that the Sandy hook massacre is a hoax, prepetuated on the American people by the Obama administration, to get us to support gun control legislation. Because Bitsy seems to repeat whatever the right wing puts out, regardless if she actually believes it or not. There was a discussion about gun control, and Bitsy didn't contribute a point of view. She's in favor of giving guns to teachers, or having veterans guard schools with guns, maybe she'll go along with ANY right wing bullshit.
She writes an essay about supporting the Sandy Hook victims, so now that the truthfulness of the tragedy is being questioned - will she address it?

So today I learned that Sherri's best friend runs some LGBT center at Tufts University. Really? After all the stuff she's said about the evils of boys playing with dolls and childrens books featuring penguins with two daddies? Whah? Huh?

Bitsy took up the time-honored tradition of slagging on guests after they've left by attacking Miss America's opinion on guns in schools. And then voices the nutso opinion that a gun used to protect children is not violent. Guns are always violent.

That said, she seemed to be the most sane on the issue of the porn teacher. No one else (except maybe Whoopi) seemed to think whether she was a good teacher mattered.

I guess Rosie is still Voldemort at the View.

Yep. It's as if she never happened. Sort of like the violence occurring in Syria at the hands of Bab's gentle opthamlologist friend. Not happening.

I bet that Whoppi, Joy, Sherri & Elisabeth can hardly wait till Babs, shall we say, moves on!!!!! Ms. Walters is 83 years old. How much longer can she keep doing this? I'm sure she is like any other person who feels if you are happy & feel good why quit?!? I just wish she do it soon. That's when I'll be curious who becomes the Queen Bee on the show & who would they replace her with?!? Another broadcaster (probably in Babs contract that doesn't happen), a former actress, a singer or another reality star. Perish the thought!!!! I guess we'll have to wait a long time for this happen.

I must be crazy b/c I keep watching this train wreck even though I continually tell myself it's not the show I used to enjoy. I am literally appalled at Sherri's lack of literacy. Every damn day it's something new. But, when she said Columbine incorrectly I thought I was going to shoot her. She is old enough to have heard it every time a situation similar to it occurs. Honestly, is the goal to make her look as stupid as possible? Girl needs to be tutored. I taught and think she is a freakin idiot. I never understood why she was chosen in the first place. She is so ill informed but boy she's going to tell us about even if she doesn't know what the hell she is talking about and it will be grammatically incorrect. To top it off the dullest knife in the drawer is a racist. I've got to stop watching this shit. I'm losing brain cells. Is ABC that blind? I can not believe I'm the only one who thinks it. Joy must be chomping at the bit to correct her. Boy, she lucked into one easy job. She doesn't need to use her brain, do research, correctly pronounce words or even speak correctly period. Boy, I long for the days of Meredith, Star, and Lisa.

I believe BW is giving us (seniors) all a bad name and she is seeming very very desperate at this point. The others are in it for the pay check - and in this day and age who can blame them!

Go ahead and blame Pepperbird's own accumulating years of mileage for a forgiving attitude, but honestly I see Barbara in a softer light. People of a certain age love to share their own experiences and get the attention of younger people who are usually in the spotlight. It pays to listen; I've learned a lot and have often been a beneficiary of an unexpected gentle hug or lively smile that's made my day. Patience and love go hand-in-hand. Barbara has so much pride in her appearance and style, and was even able to laugh at herself that Oprah got Lance's interview.

The whole Hawaii story that Gayle told was such a charade! Everyone knows what bad shape Oprah's failing network is in--and Lance needs MONEY, honey! He's in biiiiiiig ca-ca, don't you know?! And one thing Oprah has, beside caloric Hawaiian breakfast treats, is money. Let's make a deal! But Gayle painted it as a "bonding" and trust between them. It was business, Possums!

Another reason came up to pity Oprah...who was hangin' in Hawaii just about that time for the holidays--yes it was a little glimpse of Oprah's crush on Mr Obama. He's the consummate gentleman and smooth as silk to everyone, and Oprah like many of us has admired him and she (early on) even chased him a bit. Yeah let's spend the holidays in Hawaii! Maybe we will get an invite to the inner circle. Poor Oprah, but we really can't blame her. Maybe she did get a kiss under mistletoe after all.

Gayle has had some surgery on her nose. But it makes her prettier, IMO.

And yes it was almost ugly that the View made such a deal about Elton's new baby but was silent about Rosie's. Are we to conclude that the show and its owners approve double daddies but not double mommies?

Admittedly I don't watch very much -the show is absolutely awful - sad to see actually - I enjoyed it as recently as 4 years ago.

Whoopi abuses her moderator position so that she gets the last word and cuts people off before going to break. Whoopi is far from the most knowledgeable when it comes to various topics. Although she does make good points about certain things, she often speaks as if her experiences and observations make her an expert that others need to learn from when that's not the case. She defends celebrities to no end which grates. I can tell that she and Barbara are tired of each other.

However, I find BW's constant interruptions to explain things that most middle school kids understand to be condescending and insulting. She often interrupts an ongoing conversation to 'clarify' things that need no clarification. She is truly insufferable, and as a senior myself, no we are not all that way.

I don't find Barbara to be condescending when she explains things. Whoopi often takes it for granted that people already are aware of certain stories they discuss or know certain facts that many do not. Whoopi seems to take it as an insult when Barbara says, "We should say...". Barbara isn't correcting Whoopi, she's just filling in the audience who may not be aware of all of the details. Everyone doesn't watch every day nor does everyone follow every story in the news. A person like Barbara is needed to present facts and correct the others when they present their opinions as fact.

i really didn't get the idea that Sherri was trying to ban diet soda for everyone, but she just wasn't articulate enough to get her thoughts out there before the "wise" Whoopi shot her down.

I didn' t think Sherri was being inarticulate; she was just talking about her experience and thoughts on diet soda. I didn't hear her suggest a ban or that no one else should drink it.

I remember when Elisabeth used to use the made up term "desperacy" as well. She used it at least three times on the show. One would think co-workers, friends or family would tell her it's not a word. I'd never let someone make a fool of himself/herself on the air, but maybe they all think it's a lost cause.

There is nothing going on anymore. When Whoopi going off about no one depriving her of Diet Coke as counting as one of the most interesting moments, they need to hang it up. 3 segments with Charlie Sheen was 3 too many in my opinion. "Hold on class. I need to get my keys out to unlock the drawer where the gun is. Unlock safety and load it. Hopefully mass murderer doesn't turn our handgun on us. But he/she won't need it with all their assault weapons and multi magazines"....forgive the lingo. I really don't have a clue how it would work.

Maybe we can figure out, View panel, a way to protect the teachers too? If they thought it through, they'd understand I think that the idea of shooting another person even in self defense or in the line of duty is so heavy an act that soldiers and veteran cops suffer from trauma after doing it.

I think having to shoot a person would ruin a sensitive, caring teacher. Not to mention the twenty or thirty little sets of eyes taking it all in.

When Sherri mentioned Columbine, I thought she was going to talk about the fact that there was an armed guard at Columbine (and at the Gabby Giffords shooting, and weapons at Fort Hood) and it does not stop a wacko with an assault rifle. These armed guards have said that they could not get a clean shot and in the midst of the chaos, it is difficult to determine who the shooter is. The murderer doesn't have to worry about a clean shot. To make it even, the armed guards would have to have assault weapons.

All very, very good points. I would also love to be on the panel to ask Bitsy and Sherri another question, which occurred to me, as I do this job: what about substitute teachers? Are they expected to be trained as well, and to shoot someone if necessary? Does the regular classroom teacher leave his or her gun in the desk drawer, along with the day's lesson plan and a seating chart?

So many issues and counterpoints to their ridiculous declaration - but really, that could go for just about anything Sherri and/or Bitsy says.
