Okay, so which one of you was on the Ashland bus this morning at 9:23? Hmmm? Don't lie -- I saw all those Tubey pins on your messenger bag.

So should we all plan a get together for one of the premieres next season?

Maybe we can bridge the gap between the suburbs and the city and meet somewhere in between.

Anybody interested in a TWoPcon at Brookfield Zoo?

I finally figured out how to take the commuter train in from Indiana so, if I can find a way from one of their stops to the zoo, I'm in as well.

akg, would you be taking the South Shore IN train from South Bend? That train is on the same line as the one I take.

I'm in for Brookfield, too. When? Late June is best for me.

I get on in Michigan City but I'm pretty sure it's the South Shore. We should definitely meet somewhere on the train so we (or just me) don't get lost on the way to the zoo.

I have plans for the first and last weekends in June but am free the rest of the month.

I'm free pretty much any Saturday, but Sundays are no good. I have my softball league on Sundays and it's rough finding a sub.

Anybody want to throw a Saturday date out there?

First and second weekends in June are booked (anyone in the DG area want to see a play?) as well as June 19th and July 24th. Stupid people, falling in love and getting married.

I'm opposite o' Mr. Pointy. Sundays are flex, Saturday belongs to me and G-d (or at least my weird Rabbi). That said, for those who can't do Brookfield, there's always a Lincoln Park Zoo Invasion....

Lincoln Park! Lincoln Park! It's free (well, except for $10 parking) and waaay easier to traverse. I love Brookfield, but it is massive. Oh, and for akg coming from out of town, it's easy to get to after getting off the South Shore.

I'm usually good both saturdays and sundays but would prefer to meet on a saturday so I don't have to watch the clock. With the time difference and a 7:30 work start time, wouldn't want to stay too late on a sunday.

I take back what I said about the last weekend in June. My plans are actually for the 4th so I'm free any weekend in June except the 5th (of june, the 1st weekend). jennifuh just rejected the entire month, however. Any other thoughts on the 12th, 19th, or 26th?

The only Saturday in June I have free is the 19th. Most Sundays, however, are open.

My schedule is a little wacky, but if it turns out I'm free, I would be psyched to attend a Brookfield ZooCon. I'll keep checking back for a final date.

No, no. June 26 is ok!

Wait. Do they have alcohol at either zoo? This could be a problem.

I'm not sure on their carry in alcohol policy, but I know there are food stands or restaurants that sell beer.

I checked their website and can't find anything on their policy for carry in food or alcohol. I've always brought my own lunches and beverages, but I never tried bringing in alcohol before since I usually go with my kids.

I know that I've brought my own cooler in before, but I can't remember if they checked it for alcohol.

As soon as I find out my schedule for helping with the Gay Games, I'll put forth a 'come as you are to the LPZoo' date. It'll be on a Sunday, just FYI.

Bumping...

Brookfield Zoo sounds great (easier to park), but Lincoln Park would work too. I have a friend who works at Brookfield; I'll inquire as to the alcohol carry-in policy.

Also, any Bunim-Murray whores such as myself up for an impromptu RW: San Diego viewing party some random Tuesday? Might be easier to schedule than a weekend. Anyone know of a bar in the western burbs that would be willing to show reality TV instead of sports?

I'll continue to check back, sounds like summer is tricky for most everyone.

Snickelfritz, that sounds good. But I can't get out to the western burbs, unless it's near pub. transportation.

Where's the Brookfield Zoo?

The Brookfield Zoo is a couple miles west of Harlem Ave. along I-290. Itís kind of a roundabout way to get there via public transportation ó according to the CTA website, take the Blue Line towards OíHare, stop at Cumberland, and then travel south on Pace bus #331, which would take over two hours (each way). The Metra might be a better option, as itís only a half hour ride and then a couple blocksí walk to the zoo.

I have to say word on Lincoln Park as I am also a non car owning (or having the ability to drive, and yes, I should be able to drive at 23, so let's not get into how much of a klutz I am) city dweller.

hi y'all-
as an employee of BZ, I can confirm that they do sell beer (miller products) at several locations throughout the park. i know they also sell some wine at the sit-down restaurant near The Living Coast (south american penguin/fish/etc. exhibit). technically you are not supposed to byob, but if you smuggled some jack to add to our pepsi products i don't think anyone would be the wiser (just don't tell them an employee told you it was ok). you can always tailgate with a cooler in the parking lot, just hide from security a la a high school party should they cruise by.
if you want to get really schnazzy you can always book a party through the events staff (anything from wedding-reception-style to outdoor bbq) in which case you'd have a multitude of boozing options. that'll cost you though.
if anyone is interested in post-zoo pubbing (hmm...if i spelled that with one "b" it'd be "pubing") i could make some suggestions too. any other questions about zoo stuff just give a holler.

ETA: lookee me! methinks i just became a channel surfer?!

Hey, it finally occurred to me to check out this thread. A Saturday or Sunday ZooCon sounds good. I prefer Brookfield because it's closer, but Lincoln Park Zoo is good too. (And go fuzzbites with your Channel Surfer self!)

ETA: jennifuh, you mentioned a play in DG on the first two weekends of June. What is it?

fuzzbites, are you me? Because I say this all the time. And no pubing at our Con, please!

col1999, this is it. Let me stress that the second week will probably be better and that this is far from professional ;-). Two days to go and I have nothing to wear for Act 3 (sorry, no nudity).

ETA: took out link. If anyone is interested in some community theatre, email me.

Thanks, jennifuh. I've heard of the Grove Players, but I've never seen a show. If I am able to go to one of these, I'll give you a heads up.
