I thought Dylan also skipped out on the SAT's when he went with Brenda to the hospital when she thought she might have breast cancer.

I remember when the SATs were first ever mentioned on the show, Dylan told Brenda that he was not taking his SATs until the Senior year-gotta love the continuity!

I must say, I saw the early years after the later years-I started tuning in Senior year when Dylan had to pick. Now seeing the early years, the Brenda/Dylan romance moved me to tears a few times with all the angst and passion going on. They barely showed the Dylan/Kelly romance building, though you knew it was happening. In the end, Kelly reuniting with Dylan seemed natural, but my heart broke for Matt when he is telling Kelly that he finally accepted those two but would not get over it for a long time. This was at Donna and David's wedding, when Matt said to Kelly: "I don't understand this. This was supposed to be us getting married." or something like that. I just went "OUCH!" for him when that happened!

I think that's exactly why a lot of people think that Brenda/Dylan is by far the best 90210 couple. It wasn't contrived and you could really feel the passion between the characters. Kelly and Dylan never had the passion or spark that Brenda and Dylan had on camera. Personally, I also think this also has a bit to do with the relative acting chops of Shannen and Jeannie. Shannen may have been a bit of a bitch onset or whatever, but I think she's a much more diverse actress than Jeannie ever was/is. She totally conveyed the excitement, desire and nervousness of Brenda wanting to get together with Dylan. Kelly just seemed like a bit of a bitchy 'ho', who was making moves on her best friend's guy.

Shannen started acting a lot younger than Jennie ever did, so that is probably why at the time, Shannen was a better actress than Jennie was in 1991/1992/1993. Jennie got better as the years went on and made Kelly more deadpan and sardonic than just the bitchy rich girl.

Also, Kelly didn't plan to snag Dylan; Kelly at the time, was of course seeing Jake behind her mother's back, and then he dumped her because he too old for her, and she and Dylan just sorta found their way together. I felt that sometimes Kelly and Dylan had passion; that scene in the pool together was their signature moment.

Also, did Kelly ever sleep with Jake?

No. Which may suprise some, since he got around so damn much, but he dumped her before they could've done that, he didn't want her to get hurt.

I'll have to disagree on that one. Example: the slumber party episode was amazing. When Jeannie told about Kelly's first time, I was really touched. Of course, that was before I started hating Kelly. Jeannie knocked that scene out of the ballpark (imo).

I forgot about that scene, yes I agree, Jennie was wonderful, and that was like in November 1990. She did show some acting chops there.

There's an ad in the latest People magazine for a Jason Priestly movie. It's "I Want to Marry Ryan Banks," playing on ABC Family on January 18th at 8/7C. He playes Ryan Banks. Here is the movie's IMDB page.

I'll join the Brenda/Dylan club here. But, I never liked Kelly. At all. I especially hated her during the Val years, where for some reason Kelly felt she had the right to treat Val like dirt all the time, often with no legitimate reason. It was always humorous to hear Kelly call Val a slut-because God knows, Kelly sure didn't get around or anything.

Plus Kelly ending up with Dylan in the end was annoyingly contrived. They had to have Matt inexplicably cheat on her for it to happen.

I agree, Kelly did become very holier than thou for some reason. After Brenda left, I think the writers felt the need to make her that way for some inane reason.

There had to be a reason for the way Kelly was -- and the reason was that her mother was a drug addict, her father was a big time financier, but who never had time for her. Kelly and Dylan were a lot of like in that they had the same kind of parents. Kelly I assume lost her virginity at 15 with Steve, and then maybe slept with two more guys or whatever, and as was stated before upthread, she never did make it with Jakey from Melrose. She acted like an insecure schoolgirl whenever she was around him, it was so crazy -- she was the sexually experienced girl on the show and all.

Actually her first time was with a senior when she was a freshman. He left her behind a bush and never talked to her again... She got a rep and then decided to live up to it.

She was really mean to Val but Val was a bitch too...

Brenda and Dylan were the true couple to me. I stopped watching the show once Shannen left. I loved her then and I still love her. (Anyone in Heathers can do no wrong in my eyes!!)

It always bothered me that the show thought Kelly was Dylan's soulmate and I never could believe that. Sure, Kelly and Dylan had some heat but I never felt the love like I did with Dylan and Brenda.

Anyone remember when Dylan had his surfing accident and Mrs. Walsh brought him to Casa Walsh to recover and he was walking around in his undies, yum!!!

So she had to be about 15, right? I was close. She did live up to it unfortunately, but no thanks to Steve who spread crap and made it worse. Some friend he was.

Kelly did hurt Brenda, and that was wrong, but it wasn't like Kelly meant to hurt her, or Dylan too for that matter.
I never thought Kelly was a bimbo, she was just a troubled, rich girl who a lot of people in her life were too busy doing drugs or didn't have any time at all for her. That would suck. I didn't like Kelly when she always put Val down, even though Val did bad things, like sleeping with Ray, but he was to blame to; it takes two to tango. Val trying to break Brandon and Kelly up got tiring after awhile too.

Ok, did anyone notice this big continuity issue or goof? I just saw the 90210 Christmas episode which aired on Christmas day (Imagine that!) and I loved the episode. However, it starts where the previous episode left off where Steve took off for a small town in NM to seek his biological mother. He finds his biological grandfather who told him that his mother was really young when she had him (assuming as a teenager), then went off to college, got married and later died in a car accident. Of course no questions from Steve on if he had any brothers or sisters, but I guess the writers did not feel like dealing with it. He creates a bond with his new grandfather and goes back to LA, honoring Samantha his adopted mom as his real mom. Of course, Steve does not even ask about his biological father which is just weird.

Cut to a few years later and Steve is feuding as usual with Rush(?), his adopted Dad, who you can tell Steve gets alot of his traits from. Steve is wondering what his real dad was like and if he is better than Rush. Then the big news comes out, Rush had an affair cheating on Samantha, the woman got pregnant and Rush just decided to adopt the kid (no knowledge if Samantha knew about this), and guess what-Rush is Steve's biological dad!!!!!! Steve was not very happy with this information, even though he is the spitting image of his dad in every way.

So if we are to get this correctly, Steve's dad, Mr. Beverly Hills, country club, high roller exec, man about town, went off and had an affair with a teenager or an 18 or 19 year old in nowhere NM??????? Which if he was dating/married to an up and coming Hollywood actress would surely have been leaked to the press. OK......

All right, so I just found this thread, so some of this is slight o/t. I (tried) to skim through most of the topic, so forgive me if I repeat anything, but I'll try not to!

First of all, I have to convey just HOW big of dorks my sister and I are about 90210. We used to do this thing where we enacted the Brandon/Dylan friendly/manly air punch thing from the opening credits (you ALLL know what I'm talking about) at the beginning of every episode. It's difficult to explain, but I figured TWOPers would be the only one to appreciate such gestures...that having been said...moving on...

I, for some strange reason, am a Brandon/Kelly 'shipper. I really think that, being that I'm only on the verge of 21 now, I was pretty young when I watched the original episodes and now as I catch the reruns, I get stuck in my 14 yr old girl mode of love and relationships. Because of my BK love (Burger King -ha!), I HATED any of the many parade of love interests who tried to interfere there. For example, Traci, the news anchor. HATED HER. My sister and I used to scream at Brandon through the tv screen:

"Dump Traci! She's toooooooooo possessive!!!!" Ahh good times.

Also, my freshman year in college, FX was kind enough to show its 90210 reruns at 4 pm and 5 pm every weekday. This was HEAVENLY. You would walk down my floor in the dorms and hear the opening music filtering under the doors of every room. Eventually, we all began to openly admit to our 90210 addictions and have numerous conversations about whatever plot was occuring at the time. It was great bonding time, and I wonder if there is some way we could talk FX into airing the show at a diff time again? (esp since they consistently flip it around with Ally McBeal and Buffy)

Also, as I was reading through the thread, every time someone said something about the "I choose me" Kelly speech, for some reason, all I can think of is on The Simpsons when Lisa gave Ralph the valentine that said "I choo choo choose you," or whatever it said. Just me? Ok.

Every 90210 fan does that punch thingy from the credits.

Embarrassing:
I went to the Guiding Light Fan Club Luncheon in October. I met Daniel Cosgrove (Matt).

I said, "I was dared to hum to you the 90210 theme song"
Matt: SMILE "I don't remember it...but I remember my dance." SMILE

He was so cute...and nice.

I've read most of this thread and I'm pleased by the amount of Kelly-hate but I'm surprised no one has mentioned what I found one of the most annoying things about the character/actress. Which was the silly, high-pitched, cutesy voice she put on whenever she was talking to any of her boyfriends. I blame Jennie Garth, she obviously thought it was attractive for Kelly to suddenly lower her chin, look up and bat her eyelids and just generally make like Betty Boop. Grrr, I wanted to wring her pasty neck.

Gypsy, yes!!! the Kelly baby-voice/talkin' to my cute boyfriend thing was extremely annoying. I'm glad you mentioned it.
I really just wanted to post to express my disappointment that the 90210 rerun I watched this weekend on FX on Saturday morning was a really sucky one that had to be from one of the very last seasons- after Brandon and Valerie were both gone, involving characters such as Gina, Matt, Matt's schizophrenic wife, Dylan, etc..... I'm really not familiar with these episodes because I stopped watching after Brandon was gone. The only redeeming quality was the sub-plot about Steve and Janet getting all cutesy and smooching after an angst-filled camping trip.
Once Valerie and Brandon were gone, this show lost any interest for me and I stopped watching, so when I see these reruns I get all pissy and miss the the oldies-but-goodies.

But the whole Dylan/Toni storyline won me over. Their tragic end was heartbreaking. I was then and still am a huge Lyle Lovett fan and still can't hear that song without thinking of Dylan & Toni.

I'm so happy that someone else is a Dylan/Toni fan like me!
I loved this whole story line and actually paid someone for a video of their story. (I'm a 9021-nerd)...

Hey, 90210ers, James Eckhouse, who played Jim Walsh, was one of the guest stars on last night's "Without A Trace". It's a small role - only a couple of scenes - but an important one, and he gives it some nice, unexpected shadings.

Watch for it on reruns!

Guess who's getting married!

Tori Spelling is getting married on 8/14/04 to Charlie Shanian (who?), and you can check out her CRAZY gift registries at Williams-Sonoma (under Victoria Spelling, natch) and Tiffany & Co (under Tori). They are insane! Someone already got them the $1,800 espresso machine (perhaps Luke?). I was surprised all the cheapie stuff was already purchased from the WilliamSonoma one. I wonder if some zealous fans bought her the small stuff! (I briefly thought about it, considering how much entertainment her father has provided me through out the years)

In fact, during the early, good years of 90210, Kelly was actually "the bitch". And furthermore, I loved Kelly when she was bitchy. I grew to really just detest Kelly in the later years.

WORD!!
When she became 'Kelly the saint', she was so 'holier than thou' about Brandon visiting the porn shop, Valerie, everything.

The bitchy, clothes horse from high-school was much more entertaining!

Brenda and Dylan were the true couple to me. I stopped watching the show once Shannen left. I loved her then and I still love her.

I think that everyone thought that. Dylan's mother, his half sister - everyone kept telling him to go back to Brenda. I agreed!

Hi 90210shippers!

I loved this show. I liked it best when they were in the first two years of college.

Loved: Brenda, Val, Andrea

Hated: Kelly (after she got with Dylan and afterwards)

Everyone else I liked or meh.

The couples I liked best were Brenda/Dylan (my favorite), Brandon/Susan, Steve/Clare, and David/Val.

I really stopped watching after they graduated from college, I could tell that the bond that the friends had wasn't the same. It didn't help that Brenda, Andrea and Clare were gone and all these new people that I didn't care about came in. I used to like Brandon until college senior year. He started to turn into a jerk.
