Hey all you fic-ers out there (ficers sounds dirty!)

So is anyone else having a %"&*) of a time with their story because Season 4 sucks? Anyone read anything good lately?

Also- in terms of the show versus fanfic, how many people think some of the characters (Nicole, Gil) would be crucified as Mary Jane's if they showed up in fan fic?

Just trying to start some conversation so I can get back into my own tome of a story...

Sorry. Nothing comes to mind right now. Maybe as we progress through the season and something actually happens, the muse will strike someone (sadly, it won't be me because I couldn't write myself out of a paperbag).

Anyway, I was happy to see you return to "The Next Best Thing". I love the story and I hope you continue.

lilianna, definitely feeling the lack of inspiration. I'm still working on my GG fic (I only have one, the rest of my stories are in other fandoms) but it's been slooooooow going lately.

Edited because lilianna has two Ns.

Definitely, lilianna. This episode was the only one in months that even had me thinking about my fic, let alone writing any of it. I just don't like the characters as much anymore. It's hard to find inspiration to write about characters who routinely annoy.

That said, does anyone know of any good, recent JavaJunkie fic?

Seawench Here are some good JJs I've read recently - and a shameless plug for two that I've written about 4.11.

Mine

Where the Heart Is
The Tierce and the Prime

Others

Dukesmom's stories
Tree Seekers
The Journey Begins

ETA: Dukesmom has removed her stories from FF so her stories can't be read. Too bad, really.

That is a shame. I always liked Dukesmom's stories. They are well written JavaJunkies. I hope she returns them.

Sitting around and waiting for Shivery to be updated (too lazy to find link right now, sorry), can anybody recommend any Rory fics not necessarily Literati, sort of the same type? Or any really outstanding JJ stories?

Also, to be completely OT, I'm looking for good X-Files or Law and Order:SVU fics, any suggestions?

I was hoping to find someone here who could be my beta reader. To help me out with writing my story and to help with ideas, someone who knows the characters really well, well enough to know what they would say and such, can anyone help? If so email me: vamp_princess_2004@yahoo.com or reply here. Thanks =)

RubyKate's story Home is well worth reading for the Java Junkie element. Well written, too.

ETA: Angeleyez is good for lit and/or Rory stories, especially Secondhand Smoke and Breathing.

I have been so disappointed in fan fiction lately...but I totally agree that Ruby Kate's Home is excellent. I have also discovered a new fan fic author -Netherfield (sorry - I don't know how to link). This author has written 4 stories (mostly Java Junkie) and they are very well written, so I just wanted to give a plug. They don't have many reviews, so I don't know if many people are reading, but I'd say they are worth your time.

(sorry if I repeated, some of them)

A Little Emotional and an angst piece Contradiction.

Edited to add: A Little Emotional is recently new, because apparantly there's only Kasey22 who updates now adays.

It it okay if I plug my own fanfic here? Well, I once swore I would never write Gilmore Girls fanfic, but after Nag Hammadi, I wrote I Stayed, which is kind of a glimpse inside Luke's mind. I write under the pen name Erin Kaye Hashet.

Also, thank you to everyone in this thread for recommending some good stories, especially those by Netherfield.

No problem patting yourself on the back, Summer In A Bowl, because I read I Stayed and it was great. Sorry you had to do it yourself, though. I hope you continue writing in the GG thread.

Thank god for this thread, because I'm sick of wading through Trorys on ff.net, and I'll go crazy waiting a month and a half for a new episode. There have been some great fics listed here.

Can anyone recommend one where the Emily-Lorelai relationship is central to the story, or at least prominently featured? It seems that most GG fics are romances of some sort, and while I lurve L/L, I watch the show for Emily and Lorelai.

Aww, thanks Movie Star29. I've never gotten a recommendation here before! After months of shameless linking of my own work on this board, I finally got an independent endorsement. THANKS! I'm honored!

BTW, It's an LL fic, if you're interested. ;)

I've never posted here much (hung around more in the Alias forums until recently) but I was just wondering if you all had any good, more recent L/L fics to rec? (I'll also go back and look at some of the links the past few pages.) I've read some old school stuff: The King of Practical Wisdom, Take Whatever You Can Get, etc. (and most of Conneticut Junkie's stuff).

Also, I've been working on my own L/L fic forever, but its slow going.

this is kind of tacky of me, but im going to plug my own fic. because i can, basically. :)

so here, for no reason other than attack by a plot bunny, is my first gilmore girls fic. usually, i write roswell. but this is S1, set after Concert Interruptus, and i find myself haunted by Luke background stories.

presssecretary, there are a couple of good LL stories out there that are just getting started.

Jessie by Kasey22 and See Me by Kinofille are pretty good. The first is a Jess replacement and the second is set late in S4.

[Jumps up and down like an excited puppy] I got a plug! I got a plug!

And I can absolutely vouch for the wonders that are "Wedding Story," "Jessie," and the "Night and Day" series. If you guys haven't checked it out yet, you definitely should. They are funny, sweet, romantic, well-written, L/L stories for grown-ups.

Okay, enough gushing. We absolutely need more good Luke&Lorelai fanfic. Where have classic java junkie writers like CoffeeDrinker, Connecticut Junkie and AgentM (their fanfiction.net pen names) gone?

Hello, just poking my head in. I'm relatively new to the 'forum' experience. Have done a bit of lurking on another board and have now found this one.

I wanted to thank you all very much for your interest in my work. I nearly fell off my chair to see my pen name on the page! Wow, it fascinates me that there is this whole community out there that shares and supports one another. Wonderful.

Anyway, I started writing a couple of months ago as a sort of writing exercise/challenge for myself and have learned a lot in the process. It has been great to get such thoughtful reviews back and to know that, surprise of surprises, people have actually taken their personal time to read my stuff.

I also would like to encourage anyone interested in writing LL fic. It's a fun dynamic to play with and there isn't enough of it.

Thanks again! Cheers--netherfield

Thanks so much for the recs! I'll get to them sometime this summer (I'm getting into pre-finals crunch right now.) And yes, I often wonder where some of the original writers (esp. in Alias fanfic) have gone. Have they run out of ideas? Moved on to other shows? hmmmm

This is a Java Junkie I like a lot. The writer is very creative:

A Trip to the Lighthouse

I think that a lot of interesting writers have contributed to this fandom. Amazingly, it's been a fairly peaceful fandom. Usually this many 'ships can't co-exist without engendering asinine 'shipper wars.

There are still a few talented writers producing stories. I hope that with tangible gestures of support from the readers, these writers will finish their stories.

There are a lot of endings I want to know.
