The ads for the roast are pretty funny, but I have seen a few snippets from the roast and now I am afraid to watch it. It looked like a bunch of C-list comedians making nasty vulgar jokes; they didn't seem to make any references to or have any affection for Trek. I am sure there will be at least a few good Trek jokes, but it looks like most of it will be the usual roast crapola. DisapPOINTed.

Well, its going to feature the always vile Lisa Lampanelli, so you know it's going to be awful.
Still, I'm probably going to watch just to see what Nichelle and George have to say.

Exactly. It's what I meant by crude and tasteless. When did roasts get that way? Years back they had real famous people making real funny jokes that were not adult-only content.

Yay! George Takei is going to be on Psych next week. Gus and Shawn go to a scifi con and George is there. Gus calls him Chekov, and George clenches his fists and stamps his foot and yells, "SULU, dammit!!" Can't wait. I hope they are kind to the fans like Galaxy Quest was.

Nevermind why I was watching The Dukes of Hazzard, but I happened to catch an two parter guest-starring our own (Kate Mulgrew, Voyager) Katherine Janeway. Talk about surreal! Watching her smooch all over Bo Duke totally blew my mind.

And Degra (Randy Oglesby, ENT S3) played a part on the new Fox show Vanished.

Crap! I saw the pilot, but I'd already decided not to continue watching it. Now I might watch again to see him. Is he a regular? Which character was he?

I thought I saw Degra in those stupid previews saying, "It's not possible." But I was only ever half watching and couldn't be sure. I feel vindicated.

What episode was this?

Although the leading man is pretty, Vanished didn't really hold my attention so I may be a little fuzzy. I think he was the father of the woman who vanished. It seems to be recurring but I don't know.

The DoH ep was the one where a pretty girl (Janeway) convinces Bo to leave Hazzard and become a stunt driver in her traveling show. He thinks he's in love and punches Luke, but in the end he realizes he isn't the only pony in her stable and returns to his family.

Great synopsis, Peachy. I actually recognize it from that description. I still can't imagine Kate Mulgrew in it though. That must have been exceedingly odd.

Oh man. I totally remember that one! In fact, I think it's the most recent episode I've seen. But like Ana, I can't picture Janeway as the girl at all.

Actually, it might not be her - not to rain on anyone's parade, but the guest star list says someone named Robin Mattson played the love interest. Alias?

Now here you go, ruining my fun with facts! :) I could have sworn it was Mulgrew; it looks and sounds just like her. But the IMDB credits Robin Mattson. Now the idea that there are two women so similar is going to blow my mind.

If you want to see Mulgrew in that era, there's always Remo Williams.

A young Mulgrew? Fetching. The only semi-young Mulgrew I know of is when she played the role of that politician on Cheers.

I remember her from an episode of Murphy Brown, where she played an alcoholic newswoman who was going to sub for pregnant Murphy before Murphy figured her out. It was also notable because they did a behind-the-scenes episode on that specific ep, with table read footage and all that.

Isn't Kate in Throw Momma from the Train? That was bad.

For young Kate Mulgrew, one need only check out Mrs. Columbo.

Totallykate.com has a gigantic store of pictures from nearly all of Kate's "adventures" including her early soap and stage work. There are tons of pictures of her when she was younger - and yes, she is quite fetching. She has skin I would go Lecter for.

Anybody else catch George Takei on USA's Psych? He was himself at a comic book convention, but he played it as a complete diva. He made a big deal out of what state his blueberries came from ("I can taste the difference!") and other things like that. It was very silly, and he was a good choice for the show. He knew enough to play it as kind of clueless and goofy, which works well for Psych.

Hee. I loved Sulu on Psych (even though he insulted my state's blueberries). He was a very good sport. I highly recommend finding a rerun if you missed it.

Saw the L&O:SVU episode with Kate Mulgrew- skill even though she was only in a few scenes. Want to see more of her, I need a regular Janeway fix.

Kate Mulgrew is going to be on the new midseason NBC show, The Black Donnellys.

The weirdest thing: I heard that Joseph Stefano, screenwriter of Psycho, died a couple of weeks ago. When I checked him out, I discovered that he wrote "Skin of Evil" (TNG). Go figure.

TVOne is running a marathon of "A Man Called Hawk" today, although right now it's showing an interview with Brooks (from the last couple of years from the looks of the goatee). They are apparently running the show regularly at noon Eastern on Saturdays.

Funny, when Jerri Ryan showed up on Boston Public, I was interested to see her on it, since it was right after Voyager. Boston Legal? Not so much.

Hee! I just wanted to see her interact with the Shat. I remember back on Trek's 35th anniversary or so, Starlog did a cartoon with all the characters at one big party. Kirk goes to Seven, "Call me Jim!" and Seven answers, "Call me a cab!"

Yesterday I finally went to see Patrick Stewart playing Prospero in the RSC's The Tempest in Stratford. He was as good as you'd expect, although I did think he was somewhat overshadowed by an amazing Ariel.

From the blink-and-you-missed-it department: Tim Russ (Tuvok) apparently popped up for a couple of minutes on the 9/6 episode of General Hospital. Reportedly, he was somebody's oncologist.

He was Alexis' oncologist and he'll probably be back. IMO he's having a hard time shaking the Vulcan. I kept giggling at how much he still sounded like Tuvok.

On Monday (or was it Tuesday?) I caught an episode of The New Adventures of Old Christine. My pop-culture worlds collided when Elaine Benes got hooked up with Captain Archer (Scott Bakula, ENT).

Does Bakula have asthma? He always seems to be gasping for breath. It's something I always waved away when he was on ENT, figuring that the action sequences and long hours were taking a physical toll on him, but even in his guest spot on TNAoOC he was heaving for air. And all he did was stand and talk next to a car and a little bit of smooching on the couch!

I didn't notice the gasping, but I did notice his hair. That was just fug. Ick.

YES! What is that thing on his head! IT's HIS HAIR!

Actually it looks like something is eating his head.

Unless I miss my guess, I believe that was Mr. Homm on this week's My Name is Earl.

Aha! I just figured out who played the cop-daughter on Prison Break. It was Jhamel, of ENT S4's The Aenar. She's Shrans new honey. It was driving me crazy.

I have to give a shout to recommend The Nine to fans of John Billingsley. He was almost a little heartbreaking in the pilot, but only a little, and it looks like his character's new attitude towards life will be the focus of the second episode.
