I just saw the trailer for Syriana, and who should be lurking in the corner of the screen behind George Clooney, but Alexander Siddig (I think I slapped my sister as I squealed "Look! Bashir!")
thingamajig
Jason and the Argonauts is on Hallmark right now, with Jolene Blalock as Medea. Kind of weird to see her in that role, although so far I've only seen a few quick scenes with her, so I'm not sure if she's any good. I recognized her voice before her face.

It's also a bit weird to see Baltar as her brother.
FoolishWanderer
I was over at a friend's place one time when he put that on. And then he was a little put out that I laughed the whole way through. As I remember, Jolene's hair is bad. In fact, I've never seen her with good hair.
pennyq
In fact, I've never seen her with good hair.

I liked her hair in the Mirror Universe episodes. Does anyone know if that was a wig or Jolene's actual hair?
nelamm
Isn't she actually blonde?
PrettyButterfly
Bottle blond? Anyway, I'm finally getting to see S6 of the West Wing and it took me a while to realise it, but evil Admiral Nechayev is playing the Israeli Ambassador. She looks really weird with the dark hair.
keckler
She's a bottle blond -- brown is her natural color and looks much better on her, I think.

More Trekkie guest actors making Alias appearances: Jennifer Hetrick was on last night's episode. And forgive me for the shallowness but... she is not aging well. Still has pretty eyes, though -- the only thing I ever liked about her because Vash was an asshole.
Smeg
Thank you, I was wondering why she looked familiar.

I was watching Qpid today and I had somehow managed to block out that Vash was in it. I screamed "NO!" when she first appeared. Still, nice legs though. For a human.

Patrick Stewart is on the season finale of Extras next Sunday. Woo hoo!
belsum
Scott Bakula has been hosting the Halloween flavored History's Mysteries all weekend.
PrettyButterfly
Patrick Stewart is comedy gold in Extras, Snippy.
thingamajig
John Billingsley was on Nip/Tuck last night, as a guy who wanted to have his leg amputated. Weirdness.

Just saw that too - plus he's listed 4th or 5th when they go through the people in it, so I think it's more than a bit part, which is pretty cool.

Siddig is getting some strong buzz from Syriana. The film is described as structurally like Traffic, but focused on oil rather than drugs.

He's also been cast as Hannibal (the historical figure, not the cannibal) in a British television production. But that probably won't air until next year.
Azurekite
Siddig also completely owned that second series ep of Spooks (MI-5). We never got a complete idea of which side his (very complicated) character was on until the very end.
Warden
Patti Yasutake is on Grey's Anatomy right now on ABC.

Colm Meaney was on Law and Order: Criminal Intent, playing a nasty, nasty judge who would do things like get his 16 year old son a hooker as a birthday present and then boink her after the son was done.

I think I'm scarred for life.
nqllisi
Squick! I'll bet he was convincing, though. He really is a good actor.

The secret ingredient for making a sci-fi show more entertaining? Just add John Colicos.

Not necessarily better, just more entertaining. I haven't seen the first season of War of the Worlds since it aired 17 years ago (how quaint it is to hear them refer to the '53 invasion as being "35 years ago..."), but one of the clearest memories I have of it is a character called "Quinn" from the episode "The Prodigal Son". Quinn is an alien who has survived on earth since the original invasion due to an immunity to the bacteria that put the rest of the aliens to sleep. Imagine my surprise to find that this clearest memory of my first real fandom was, in fact, science fiction's favorite, "Hey, It's That Guy!"

As I work my way through the new DVDs of the series, I find that while I enjoy it for nostalgia's sake, it's a very, very poorly written series. But this episode was a standout, which leads to my theory that a little John Colicos makes everything, even something that was already good like DS9, just a little bit better.

You mean not bad meaning bad but bad meaning good?

Oh I saw P. Stewart on "Extras" and he was frellin' bizarre. And I appreciate that. "You mean, you don't have a wife or a girlfriend and you've never watched 'Star Trek'?"

Comedy gold.

Though at this moment I think the phenomena of female-less men watching "Star Trek" is an American thing.
Warden
I'm watching George Takei right now in The Green Berets on AMC. Now I can't help wondering if he found John Wayne sexy.
tothemax
The man is gay, not blind.
Cleo256
Stephen Culp, aka Major Hayes from Enterprise's third season, won the championship round of Celebrity Poker Showdown on last night's broadcast. He won half a million dollars for the weSPARk Cancer Support Center.

Saw Al Siddig in Syriana tonight. (A special sneak preview!) He's very, very good. He was so good, I never saw Bashir at all there, except to worry about whether or not, due to Bashir and all, I would be on his side whether or not he deserved it. Rolling Stone also called his performance "superb." You should go see this movie!
dbrugg
An odd thing with all the Syriana press I've seen so far (including the two thumbs up from Ebert and Roeper). You see Sid in the clips, but you don't hear him. Granted, he's not even remotely the biggest name in the cast, but he seems to have a decent sized part.
Crocktacularity
I dunno. Newsweek also called him an "actor to watch." in their review.
Cleo256
There's been talk that he might get an Oscar nomination (in the supporting actor category) for his role in this movie.
Curare
I'm so looking fwd to Syriana. I love Sid. I keep hoping he'll show up on Battlestar as Baltar's brother in a flashback or as one of the male models.

Saw a sneak preview last Friday. Trust me, it's great.

I just got back from Syriana and man that movie was worth it. Sid rocked and so did eveyone else. The man looks good in suit.

ETA: Robert Foxworth a.k.a Admiral Layton from the Homefront and Paradise Lost eps is also in Syriana. He was also in last's night ep of SVU.
thingamajig
I'm reluctantly considering taking thinglet to see Chicken Little today. So I was looking up info on it and I see that Patrick Stewart is in it?! Oh, Patrick, do you really need money that badly? Would it help if I bought a TNG DVD set? Actually, this movie has a ton of recognizable voices that all make me sad, because I think the movie looks terrible and the reviews at Rotten Tomato are pretty bad.
Harrison Fjord
I enjoyed it. Saw it in 3D (gorgeous). No Pixar, but significantly better than any of the crap Fox and Dreamworks have been putting out.
Isaboe
Conner Trineer was on Numb3rs last night. Played a mountain man who was being hunted by the feds. I didn't know it was him til he started talking. Fat lot of good that was. All of 5, maybe 6 sentences. Seemed a bit thinner, but the accent was still intact.
Peachy Keen
I saw that Isaboe. I was enormously entertained when Connor's mug was shown on a coffee mug as the three actors mugged for the camera. The fact that I was that entertained by my own wordplay ought to tell you that the episode did not blow me away. But Golly Jeepers, the man is pretty!
Anabanana
It was way way too short of an appearance by CT, but now I want one of the T-shirts with his face on it (mountain man was a local hero). Anyone hear of where to get one, you let me know.
Warden
Conner Trineer was on Numb3rs last night.

Damn. I knew he looked familiar but I just couldn't place him. I feel ashamed now.

If you've forgotten what Robert Beltran looks like without the tattoo, he's on SCIFI's Manticore right now playing a soldier.

Chase Masterson is in it too.

I was amused as well. I don't normally watch Numb3rs, but stuck around after seeing Connor's name in the credits. Good seeing him on TV again even if it was just for a few minutes.
pennyq
Crap! I had meant to tape it, but totally forgot. I missed seeing my tv boyfriend :-( Is he really supposed to be on an episode of Close to Home? Anyone know when?
Anabanana
I thought of you, penny, when I saw it was him. You didn't miss much, except 5 minutes of a very scruffy CT and some humorous t-shirts and mugs with his face on them. I don't know anything about Close to Home, but IMDB lists his Stargate:Atlantis appearance for episode # 2.16 in February 2006.
pennyq
Aw, that's sweet of you Ana.

So, Stargate: Atlantis is on the SciFi channel, right? Alas, I don't pay for it. The WB affiliate does air it Sunday mornings here, but I think those are probably old reruns. I'm going to have a bit of explaining to do when I ask a friend to tape an episode of Stargate: Atlantis for me in February.
EnglishMuffin
Patrick Stewart was on Chris Evans's radio show on Saturday afternoon. He had quite a lot to say, and got in a couple of plugs for his A Christmas Carol one-man show and X-Men 3.
pennyq
Michelle Forbes, aka Ensign Ro Laren, was on Prison Break last night. I think she was supposed to be one of the evil secret service conspiracy people, but that wasn't entirely clear.
PrettyButterfly
Patrick Stewart was also on Lorraine Kelly this morning, again plugging A Christmas Carol, X-Men 3(Yay) and a new show called the 11th Hour that is on in January on ITV. He is still looking very fine, especially in the clip they showed. Nice suit.
Anabanana
Michelle Forbes, aka Ensign Ro Laren, was on Prison Break last night.

I thought that was her. Thanks for confirming, penny.

This isn't exactly a different role, but Ronny Cox, who played Captain Jellico in TNG's Chain of Command 1&2 is also a talented musician and storyteller. Has a few CDs, currently doing a lot of gigs in Illinois. Kinda shocking, in a good way.
Divaah46
Alexander Siddig has a nice page-long article in this week's Entertainment Weekly. He talks about the Arab image, the work he's doing now, and he still loves the Star Trek fans.
Dmlsys26
Robert Beltran is also on an ep of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman as the leader of some crooks who break into the Planet to get to some money hidden in the basement. I don't remember quite when that ep aired, so it might have been when Voyager was on the air. Still got a good laugh out of it though!
nelamm
Alas, it was right before VOY started.
