George Takei did the voice of a Neimoidean general on last night's episode of the animated Star Wars: Clone Wars on Cartoon Network.
We just caught that episode last night. The Captain was utterly perplexed when I pointed out to him that it was Sulu playing the bad guy. Heh.

Yes! I saw that. Such a cutie. I was complaining in the show's thread because I was hoping that Eric McCormack would play a character similar to the one he played in Free Enterprise--irascible, intense, flaring nostrils, etc.--but, no. Hmmmph.

The patient of the week on House was the little girl that was trapped in the elevator with Picard during the disaster episode. She was completely unrecognizable and I never would have known it was her if I hadn't known the actress's name (I'm obsessed with the many bizarre Trek and Dr. Quinn connections - Erika Flores was the first Colleen).
Oh and last night's rerun of TNG on WGN was that first one with the Traveller. I couldn't figure out why the guest smart guy was so familiar and then it hit me: Monk's old shrink. And then I was sad because he died last year.

The worst part about being semi-downsized is daytime TV, where I spent all day recognizing Trek actors. It was a HITG marathon.
There was Tuvok on Will and Ed's Big Adventure
There was Mrs Feezal Phlox on The Closer
There was MACO Buckteeth who tried to seduce Trip with Neural Node Nudgings on CSI: New York
There was an extremely young Stephen Culp (Major Hayes, ENT) on The Cosby Show as a panicked man who left his pregnant and in labor wife in the car outside the hospital.

Did anybody else see Jonathan Frakes have this tiny cameo on a recent episode of Leverage? It was so neat, and yet so odd. They made sure to have a clear shot of his face when he looked at Tim Hutton, but he didn't have a speaking part or anything. Mr. Lor and I scoured both sets of credits to see if he directed/was mentioned, but he was nowhere to be found.

I found the

Kitty Swank who was in a few random DS9 episodes.

I really like Leverage, and am thrilled to see the "Star Trek Convention" on the show. Especially Spiner.
I am so glad to see Jonathan getting so much work and enjoying himself so much. He seems like a very good-natured guy. I remember some reporter asking him, with a bit of a sneer, if he was unhappy being stuck in the rut of a Trek actor. And Jonathan said something like, Are you kidding? I would love to have the career of a Shatner or a Nimoy--they act, they direct, they do all kinds of things, and they keep working, which is hard to do in this profession, etc.
I thought that was a cool answer. Good for him!

Well, when you've been hiding from your kids and the government, there are bound to be furrows. But, I think the "cover" of trying to be a crazy tech guy and then transforming were very Sam-like. My favorite part was the scene with Bakula and Devon talking about why Ellie was upset by the bachelor party, though. And that Devon made pancakes. *Sniff* Closely followed by, "I know what you can't do!" Heart wrenching. And on a show that had me cracking up as well. And I noticed that Tom Paris (I don't think I could spell his real name) directed this episode, which must have been really nice for Bakula.
And for Firefly fans, Adam Baldwin is just awesome as Casey, one of Chuck's handlers. I'll be so bummed if this show isn't renewed. I really, really hope these aren't the final three episodes and we get even a shortened S3. If only to wrap up the story completely.

Scott was simply awesome as Chuck's dad. The character was completely enjoyable and I didn't have the urge to hate him at all.
Robert must have been able to find something in Scott that made him a good actor again. I have no idea what this says about Archer, though. It has to be awful directing and lousy scripts on the part of the Enterprise show-runners.

I am a Fringe fan, and I just found out about this yesterday! The episode is tonight, and I can't wait. This show randomly got good about 3/4 of the way through, which is a dangerous way to run a show.
By the way, if you plan to check it out just to see Nimoy, be sure to set your DVR to extend the recording time by at least five minutes for the American Idol weekly overrun. Fringe likes to put something interesting in the last 2 or 3 minutes, and Idol likes to make 2 or 3 minutes of something interesting into 65 minutes.

I went to see the Trek movie again last night and then spent a while on imdb trying to figure out why so many of the background actors rang bells for me (especially the Enterprise bridge crew). The only one I could put a face to a past role for though was the 'Barracks Officer,' played by Paul McGillion (Beckett from Stargate: Atlantis). If JJ Abrahms gave you a job once, he's likely to cram you into every show he ever makes until the end of time. For example, one of the ENT bridge crewman is that woman who played the Goth chick on Felicity. (whose name I can never remember even though I love her.)
Carson Beckett was indeed the man who grounded Kirk. Every time I see him I want to ask him about his 'wee turtles' (but that would be weird, right?)

Shatner writes in his autobiography about the time he once, as a young actor, was invited to dinner at Edward G. Robinson's house. Robinson had an impressive collection- a museum, really- of Old Masters of which he was very proud, and gave Shatner a tour of them. Shatner idolized Robinson, and at some point, having recently seen him in a coffee commercial (or something like that), asked him how he could "lower himself" (my words) to do them.
Robinson pointed at the latest acquisition in his collection and said, "That's how." Shatner said he got a valuable actor's lesson from that: No job is "beneath you." He also tells a story about how a young John Wayne was complaining to Will Rogers about the roles he had starting out. Rogers let him go on for a while and then said, "You working?" (This was during the Depression, remember.) Wayne said, "Yeah." Rogers answered, "Keep working" and walked off.
That book was a lot deeper than I thought it would be.
In its latest post, Trekmovie.com has a list of Easter eggs in the new movie, including most of the cameos.

BN is usually much better with casting. Even without the residual Daniels hatred, I don't think I'd have been that sympathetic to the guy. I spent most of the episode being suspicious of him (and cheering when he got beat up). I don't think either reaction was what they were going for.
Fi needs to stop pining and eat a sandwich before she can be my tv girlfriend. I love her love of explosions and general kickass-ness but the desperation is annoying.
