Premieres tonight.

The monologue was painful. But it was funny seeing spit fly out of George's mouth during interviews. So it wasn't a total loss.

I dunno- perhaps it's the zombie like state I've been in since I have a newborn at home but the few moments I caught of the monologue had me chuckling! I'm easily amused I suppose. I'll watch if I'm ever up that late only because I don't like Letterman or Conan. I never watch the interview portions anyways.

Huge Carlos Santana fan here so that in itself was a great moment.

I don't care for Eva Longoria and am tired of seeing her and George almost being joined at the hip for a lot of things.

I look forward to the Marc Anthony segment today. I saw a portion of it on the Ellen DeGeneres show yesterday and it looks funny. This coming from someone who can't stand Marc or his wife.

since I have a newborn at home

Congratulations!

Finally some flavor added to late night! Tired of Jay, Conan, and Letterman...Lopez Tonight reminds me of Arsenio Hall. I love the band and his monologue. Could do without the dancing hoochies and some of the jokes have me cringing but overall a good start.

I have the premier on my DVR and plan on watching it sometime this weekend, but in the meantime, something to read (and something to cause me to question my decision to watch in the first place):
Late-Night Revolution? In Taste, Perhaps

Mr. Lopez said he was “bringing change to late-night TV,” but the only significant change was a coarsening of the already crass atmosphere, a willingness to go to a place even Jimmy Kimmel hasn’t yet gone.

Otherwise, “Lopez Tonight” was business as usual: a comedian on an ugly set telling jokes and making fawning chit-chat with celebrities.

Having been a fan of GL since his first days on the comedy circuit when he performed at local small clubs, I see nothing wrong with his style of comedy. If he were to downplay his comedy and use a different style in his monologue, it would not be George to me. As for his stage and how ugly it looks, it makes no difference to me. I don't tune in to look at the sets. Critics don't dictate to me what is good or what is bad.

I agree. I was a huge fan of Arsenio and attended a taping of that show. I plan to get tickets to see GL. And just like Arsenio, he didn't get off to a great start. He had to build up his audience and slowly get the big stars to appear on his show but one thing Arsenio did that I know George will do is, Arsenio brought in singers and acts that were not so well-known but gave them their time to shine and helped their careers.
