I guess it's not surprising that this show has no thread yet. I don't know how long it has been on the air, but I just saw one episode online featuring the cast of House of Payne (that says a lot already). As the thread title says, she screams. Loudly. A lot. Her questions and comments are long and repetitive/redundant. She comes across as if she's a novice not only to late night talk but to the business in general. I do like the set, though. I guess it had to be big enough to accommodate her voice.

I happened to be flipping by this morning and I caught her announcing Coolio coming out to cook. I thought it would be interesting and I would learn a new recipe or something. I always thought Coolio was a cool guy, too. So disappointing. I didn't like the volume, the body language, or the banter. It was if everyone on that stage wanted to say, "This is how black folks do it, y'all!" (Cue audience: "Mmmhmm!") I felt very out of place just watching. The clips of former and future guests didn't show anything different, either. When I could cringe no more, I put it on Nick Jr for the kiddo. I must admit, though, it's some of the better programming I've ever seen on BET.

She was on Craig Ferguson the other nite and admitted to screaming. I think she realizes it's a problem but once her adrenaline starts going, it seemed like she couldn't control herself.

I watch this show depending on who the guests are. The best one so far was when Mo had the other Queens of Comedy on. I never laughed so hard in my life! Mo is great in small doses.

Exactly. It makes the hour-long show format that much more difficult to take, though.

Has she given an explanation of her weight loss?? She was so vocal about being a big woman. Next thing you know she will be shaving her legs.
chachapaula
I saw her on Ellen and she said her husband said he wanted her around for a long time so she decided to get healthy.
Marla Singer
I watched about 10 minutes and then had to fast forward until the guest I wanted to see was on. I just couldn't take it.

Mo's screaming loud voice, the forty minute dance segment at the beginning, her preaching, and the dancing sidekick would make this such rich fodder for SNL (if SNL ever bothered to hire a brown skinned black comedianne.)

lol.

She is so loud. That's why I can't watch the show. She just lays on this persona of hers so thick! It grates.

The Monique show is just that another show, she always say how she want to be different from every late night talk show, but this show has nothing late night about it, except it come on a 11pm that it, and I love Monique to death. But this show had 3 weeks to get it act together and it still not that interesting. This is what I always wonder you can agree to disagree but if her radio show wasn't canceled would we be having a Monique radio 2.0 on TV because this is what her talk show remind me of her canceled radio show.
And then you have Rodney Perry sitting there not funny at all. Monique who are your producers? they should be telling her something about this show being so bad. The guest are good but that it, and I love that Monique trying to be inspirational that good because we need that on B.E.T but my goodness every show, she a comedian on a late night show, but she not giving any funny laughs like other late night give you, sometime she say a joke but that it. Monique stop screaming, stop saying baby OH baby, suga, and stop trying to scream louder then your audience this not a contest, and she's talking about god, I know Monique talk about this in one of hers comedian stand up, about these christian ladies came to her and said why do she have to curse so much? it was funny how she responded, but now I'm kinda agreeing with the old ladies Monique can say how god is good but say God Damn out the same breath, I know I know I have family the same way, but how can you say praise the lord but curse right after, some people might say that how Monique always was, but that can hurt you or help you.

Does anyone know if this is a limited run? Please tell me it is...I tuned in one night to catch Wendy Williams and this monstrosity was on. She makes Wendy look like Tom Brokaw. I would root for this show to succeed if I hadn't heard the scuttlebutt about her being a diva about promoting her new movie Precious....that movie is poised to be a success despite her stank attitude about promoting it...

BET Bring back Wendy at 11pm...midnight is too late for me and Wendy isn't DVR worthy and I looked forward to tuning into Wendy to lull me to sleep...I tried that with Monique and my god, the screaming...

Monique is funny, but she does not need a talk show...I hope Wanda Sykes is taking notes....

Yeah. It says "I blow so hard that I can't even get guests people can at least PRETEND to care about!"

So wrong. And yet, Yeah.

"Infomania" (on Current) jokes that Monique is "taking the dump of a lifetime", with clips of the constant screaming. There are way too many shows on, for me to pay attention to this one.

But seriously - so many black people in the entertainment industry, who I never see on late-night shows, and she's already resorting to the likes of Coolio? And the cast of "House of Payne"? Granted, I've wondered if they are allowed to venture outside of TylerPerry Manor, but I don't know if I would want to see the entire cast as one whole segment.

This is funny to read now that Wanda had her first show last Saturday.

I tried watching this show but I find myself getting bored. Last night she had Terence Howard and that other chick whose name I can't recall right now but she annoyed the hell out of me with her waving that fake hair around and emphasizing how it is "Asian hair." Obviously she missed that Oprah segment about "Good Hair." Anyway Mo'Nique seems to get off track like last night for example. She mentioned the Oscars when talking with Terence and how it felt getting nominated (you can guess where she was taking this convo) lo and behold Terence turned it on Mo'Nique and told her she will soon get that phone call herself when the nominations are announced. So what did they discuss for what seemed like forever? Mo'Nique and the potential Oscar she will receive.

Exactly.

She seems to be playing to the LCD, in my opinion. Lee Thompson Young (i.e. "The Famous Jett Jackson" and boy of my teenage dreams) is working again. Why aren't he and the rest of the (surprisingly high amount of black) cast members being featured like the Perry bunch? Gabrielle Union is a given. Dule Hill is awesome on "Psych". That would definitely introduce the BET-centric crowd to a really good show that may otherwise slip under their radar. Has Tracy Morgan been on the show, even? Between him, Kevin Brown, Grizz Chapman, and Keith Powell, that would throw some much-needed viewership towards my beloved "30 Rock". But something tells me it's a lost cause. Either these people's agents don't want them anywhere near Mo'Nique's show or BET is - yet again - underestimating it's viewers' intelligence by keeping us entertained with LOUD.

This talk show host persona is much different than the "Charm School" racket she tried to pull. I knew everything about her on that show was fake. The tone of voice, the diction, etc. It's scary. Reminds me of AJ Holloway's 180. How do you go from Timberlands, urban vernacular, and dreds on 106th & Park to tailored suits and a speaking voice two pitches higher on the biggest tabloid show in the country? I tuned in one day, and he was wearing a kilt. No lie.

Actually, Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx, Will Smith, Halle Berry, Laurence Fishburne, Bill Cosby, Chris Rock, (and Wanda Sykes would be a competitor) appear frequently on shows like Letterman, Leno, Kimmel, etc. But I don't think Mo'Nique has the 'pull' to book guests of that caliber. If "Precious" continues to do well, if she gets an Oscar nod, if her show improves, if she lowers the screaming decibels, etc. that might change. But that's a lot of "ifs". Regardless of the race of the guest, Mo'Nique is better at talking than listening - and thus, imo, is not a good host.

Those are all A-list stars, I think lots of blackfolk would be happy seeing "B" list get a little attention, I know I would.

Does anyone else remember the old Bev Smith or Live From LA with Tanya Hart shows? Those were appointment TV shows for me back in the day.

Yep. White Indie artists and undiscovereds have always been featured on Leno and Conan's shows. They literally get pulled off of a bus an onto a stage. Next thing you know, they're the latest big thing. I have yet to see Lupe Fiasco "blow up", so to speak. He's been on a few late night shows, but he's still severely underrated.

I am not black but I love seeing more of the "B" list celebs than the usual fanfare that is the "A" list. I enjoy hearing what so and so is up to, what they are doing, etc. It is the same when I see the newest movies coming out in a theatre, it is the same old "A" list actors. What about a little variety?

I enjoyed last night's ep with the cast of "The Game" but some of them act like their characters a bit, Raquel Welch, , Brittany and Hosea (forgot last name). Surprised to see the actor who plays Jason Pitss smiling a lot

I have been watching the reruns on BET in the mornings.

We've covered the yelling and preaching already. Hopefully her husband who told her she needed to lose weight will tell her she needs to make some changes on her talk show. There is no vision for the show. Seems kind of like a modern day Arsenio Hall except there's no comedy and all preaching.

She is interviewing the cast of Precious now. She needs writers to write her monologue and to come up with some more in depth questions for some of the B listers she has on. She had on the group BBD the other day and I thought she could've asked them some more questions about the whys and hows as opposed to spending her time kissing their behinds.

Then I saw an interview she did in last week's People magazine and there was a full length picture of her with unshaven legs. Is this something that is a signature for her? I thought it was too obvious and intentional in a magazine that can photoshop quite well.

I actually like the big girls dancing in the beginning of the show.

I also feel like she's trying to fill time because she's not sure what else to do. I hope she watches herself, hires some writers, and goes deeper with her guests and uses her humor more subtlely.

craptastic don't hold your breathe for her Hubby to step in...word on the street is he's the reason she's been so difficult when doing press for Precious...he's the one making all the outrageous demands...Piss Oprah off and you are DONE in hollywood. LOL
Dasha Sonam
I'm sorry, but my gay-dar goes off every time I see or hear her husband.

Dasha Sonam don't be sorry. I don't even know who her hubby is...if he is on the downlow wouldn't be the first time...I'm looking at you Al Reynolds..aka Mr. Star Jones. I think it was my US Weekly that said he was the difficult one wrt Precious promotion...ie he was making unreasonable demands for MoNique.
