Another family has joined the rounds of the E! reality shows. E! has announced Leave it to Lamas, a new reality series that will follow The Bachelor: London Calling winner Shayne Lamas and the rest of her family as they live their Hollywood lifestyles, will premiere Sunday, October 11 at 10:30PM ET/PT.
In addition to Shayne, the show's cast will also feature her father Lorenzo Lamas -- who previously served as a judge on ABC's short-lived 2003 Are You Hot? reality series and also competed on Gone Country's second season last summer on CMT.
Rounding out the cast will be Shayne's brother A.J. and her sister Dakota, as well as their mom and Lorenzo's ex-wife Michele Smith.

I never saw that show. I am wondering how I missed it? Maybe I should be glad I did.
I know Lorenzo Lamas because of his late father, Fernando Lamas. His father did the rounds of television shows such as Love Boat. Now I am showing my age. I also remember Lorenzo's small part in the movie GREASE. I was shocked when I saw his appearance years after that movie and could not believe the difference in his appearance. I know he also had his stint on Falcon Crest. I can't recall the name of that drama series he had for a time.

This makes me feel old. In middle school, I was lusting after Lorenzo on "Falcon Crest." Now he's the dad dropping in on a show about his adult kids? How depressing.
He has crappy taste in women, and seems pretty trashy across the board, but if he had been a contestant on his own show...hot. Really hot.
Also, I didn't think they manufactured implants that large for anyone but Las Vegas strippers. Michele proved me wrong. How was there enough silicone left over in the world to fill her lips?

What is with the E catchy names? Keeping up Kardash.... and Leave it to Lamas. Barf.
I won't be watching. There is already too much to watch on Sunday. Might try to catch a re-run. I did like Shayne on The Bachelor.

I have to say, he was fantastic on Falcon Crest. You really didn't have to be uber-talented to star in a nighttime soap, but his character (Lance, of all names) was a favorite.
Shayne really is a non-entity to me, she's incredibly bland in the personality department but this show HAS to be better than "Keeping Up With The Kardashians".
If I have to hear Kourtney's droll voice or see that loser baby-daddy one more time, I might hurl something at the tv.
Oh...and Lorenzo is still quality eye-candy.

I never watched Lorenzo on Falcon Crest, but I do remember him from Renegade.
Renegade IntroOne of his co-stars, Kathleen Kinmont, was also one of his wives. The only one who wasnt' bimbo material.
He's had 4 wives, Mishelle Smith being the mother of Shayne and AJ.
His 4th wife was Shauna Sand, the ultimate bimbo.

I never saw Renegade but I'm going to guess Falcon Crest was his career high. It was a little more than a stint as he was the male romantic lead for pretty much the duration of the show. Of course, I'm assuming Falcon Crest was the bigger show...

It was a little more than a stint
A stint is a length of time spent in a particular way such as a stint in the military.
I only saw Falcon Crest but a handful of times. I never saw Renegade. I have no idea what Lorenzo has been up to other than when his ex-wife, Shawna (sp?) is shown on television. I guess it was time for another "Hollywood" family to get their own reality show and the Lamas family was chosen. Who would have thought?

Malibu65 - I stand corrected, you're right. It just seemed a bit dismissive (whether that was your intention, I guess it's hard not to be) when I always considered that to be the role, um, of his career... lol, I feel stupid writing that... and sort of why he's famous. But now I'm betraying my age (old)... and my bias, I guess. Geez, when I look at the tweens today and all the television, etc, they have especially developed/targeted to them and I look back at my childhood, what was I watching... Dallas and Falcon Crest! Shame on me... Oh, well, I'll probably watch this, too. Just keeping with tradition... apparently, I'm not terribly picky when it comes tv... and I won't even discuss the reality trash I watch.
PS. Some years back, I did try to watch Falcon Crest again on re-run but it hasn't aged very well...
PPS. Sad to say, I only know Fernando Lamas because he had a guest starring role (as himself) in a frequently aired episode of I Love Lucy. Judging by Lucy's reaction to him, I guess he was a big star.

Falcon Crest was fantastic...the opening musical score, the vintage Mercedes driving throught the vineyards, the clothes, the houses, Lorenzo was paired up with Ana Alicia who was similar to him in looks (female version) both very sultry, even though as a young girl I thought Lorenzo was a little simian looking.
I remember reading that the matriarch, Jane Wyman, the ex Mrs Ronald Reagan, was the only cast member whose clothes were custom made.

He actually appeared in the Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour. It was an extension of the I Love Lucy series. He certainly was a hot celebrity of that era. His looks surely helped in that. He passed on those hot looks of his to his son, Lorenzo. Lorenzo has four marriages under his belt just like his dad.
Just checked Lorenzo's IMDB and it shows he did RENEGADE for five seasons. He also did THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL for two years. He has had some pretty steady work. I had no idea.

I just saw the show... damn, I wish it were better! It's not even so bad as to be good. Pity! I'm not so sure about centering the show around Shayne... her brother and her father are more interesting, even family feuds aside. Shayne is likeable enough, I guess, but I refuse to believe she's as stupid as she plays.
So it was a little amusing when Shayne said Shauna Sand was actually pretty except for the "Crayola Crayon" all over her face -- partly because SS's make-up does look Crayola Crayon and partly because to me, Shauna Sand looks like what I expect Michelle Smith looked like 20 years ago.
Another quote that jumped out at me -- "Sometimes when your family lets you down, you have no one to turn to but your friends." LOL. I swear I thought she was going to say family: your family lets you down, you still turn to them. But no. When she said that, I actually just wanted to say, "I am so sorry." I don't disbelieve her but her family relationships must be seriously fractured for her to say that. And I know they admit to this in the show but sometimes they're so flippant I don't really grasp it.
Malibu65 - Ah, the Lucy Desi Comedy Hour. When I was growing up, they always seemed to treat the two shows interchangeably -- sometimes an hour of I Love Lucy, sometimes LDCH. Mistakenly, I thought Fernando Lamas appeared on I Love Lucy during the episodes when the Ricardos and the Mertz's went to Hollywood. You know ... when she stalked all the movie stars of the day? LOL.
As for Renegade. I've never seen an episode but it must've been somewhat successful to last as long as it did. Someone tell me, was that a show like Baywatch in that it was immediately sold into syndication? Because I couldn't tell you what network Renegade was on, or what time or what night... but I do recall seeing it sometimes (in passing) on Saturdays or something, in the middle of the day. Odd times.
The Bold & The Beautiful -- um, I'm also watching My Antonio, a reality show featuring Antonio Sabato Jr. He also had a stint (to borrow a word, lol) on B&B. Apparently, I have a weakness for reality programming that features "The Bold & The Beautiful." Though I don't watch B&B.

Joel McHale said it best on Talk Soup when he pretended to misread the teleprompter as "Leave it to Lame Ass." Oops.
I really wanted to like this show, since I am one of the very few that Shayne did not seriously annoy on "The Bachelor." However, I barely made it through to the end. I expect my "candid" reality shows to be scripted and full of set-ups, but this one takes the cake.
Bummer.

I'd never heard of Shauna Sand, so I went looking for some pics of her and her daughters with Lorenzo. Holy crap. Honestly, it's shocking to me when a woman like that gives birth, because it's easy to forget that there are human parts underneath the plastic sex cyborg she's created on the outside of her body. Like, oh right, she probably still has a pancreas and spleen and so on, because she's not actually a plastic doll.
The three daughters are beautiful, though. Did anyone see the "True Life: I Have Embarrassing Parents" episode on MTV where the profiled teen was the offspring of an aging Playboy centerfold and her elderly sugar daddy? Somehow I imagine that's what's in store for these girls.

I didn't watch the last 10 minutes. I fell asleep. I don't know what that says about this show. I could not take my eyes off Lorenzo's former wife, Michelle. Oh Lord! She looks like what Shauna will look like in 15 years. All that tanned out and leathery skin is not a good look. The lips, yuck! She looked like she was melting in front of my eyes. Shauna must have been the younger version of Michelle when Lorenzo hooked up with her because I swear, they look so similar. Just like mother and daughter. Michelle is just horrid.

All 4 of LL's wives have resembled one another (when men do this, Rod Stewart is another) it reminds me of people who get stuck on one breed of dog; as soon as one dies (or gets old in LL's case) they are off to the breeders for the next bitch. They make the Kardashian family look functional.
Oh my word, so right. I didn't think it was humanly possible to ever make "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" look like quality television programming highlighting good family values---LitL proved that is truly is. How do I suddenly have more respect for the Kardashian/Jenner family now? Oh right, I actually sat through an episode of this Lamas bile.
This show isn't nearly as awkwardly upsetting as the trash that was "Living Lohan", and it's about as pointless as "It's Complicated", but it's still not even worth future airings considering how boringly lame and f'ed up that family is on so many levels otherwise.
That butterface Shane thinks she's way more adorable and endearing than she really is.
And what is up with the other siblings, the younger sister and AJ? Do either of them WORK or have educations they're pursuing??
Do they all seriously still live together with that whackadoo mom?!
AJ comes off like some sort of spoiled brat who's brain is still stuck in high school. Plus, the guy obviously needs some serious therapy---I know it must suck knowing your dad is a tool like Lorenzo Lamas, but you can still suck it up and learn to get along with your father like a mature adult((which he obviously is not...he'd rather go off and drink milkshakes!))
Also, for all the talk about AJ getting in the tabloids for supposedly boinking his dad's skanky ex-wife, why wasn't the issue even brought up once? Did he or didn't he ever get it on with the lucite heel plastic Playmate known as Shauna Sand?
It was frustrating to see all the tabloid talk about it and yet it was just swept under the rug otherwise. Now THAT might've actually made for a halfway interesting show.
I think I only remotely enjoyed this show just to ogle that house. That modern house and its funky furnishings are the only redeemable aspects of this otherwise frivolous show.

How much do you want to bet that that house was rented for them to live in while working on this show? Shayne not knowing how to use the microwave? That microwave was definitely new to her! And I wouldn't imagine that there is all that much money among the Lamas (ha ha - llamas). Where would it come from? My guess is that they have a tiny little house, but wanted to use a nicer one for the show, so production rented this one for them.

I actually really like AJ. And I thought it was cute that he went off to drink milkshakes instead of going out to get wasted. I actually thought that maybe he was a recovering alcoholic (see: Rod Stewart's loser son, Sean). But then he brought beer home, so, I guess not.

Lorenzo being all awkward on his date actually made me smile since it was such a contrast to the roles he plays and imitating his dad's voice and dating advice? Awesome.
Lorenzo and Shane were on Chelsea Lately last night and he came off really well. He said that he's not going to have the youngest kids on the show (the ones by Shauna Sand) and how awesome it is to be spending more time with Shane in the past few months than he has in 4 years.

Wow. Makes me wonder if Lorenzo made a boatload of money on that. Didn't Baywatch earn Hasselhoff a huge chunk of change? Of course, Baywatch was extremely -- and weirdly, IMO -- popular and I guess they had crazy merchandising. I want to see Lorenzo's place! This show is mostly about the Lamas kids, which is stupid to me because it's really Lorenzo (and maybe his relationship with AJ and the possible Shauna Sand triangle) that is interesting. Although I suspect LL is only doing this show because it isn't centered around him -- he gets all of the press but less of the ramifications of being a "reality star."
Watching Shayne date was such a waste of time and boring on top of it. Really, that guy was boyfriend/marriage material because he went to Cal Poly and wears patent leather shoes? Nothing against the guy (though he was cheesy looking) but however did she come to that conclusion? As for AJ, I got a weird in-need-of-anger-management/potential-cult-member vibe from him when he stormed off and then started praying. Which leads me to another little thing -- didn't he do a Protestant version of the "Our Father" with the ending phrase, "For thine is the power and the glory..." (which Catholics only say during Mass) while ending the prayer by crossing himself? Are there Protestants that cross themselves or Catholics that habitually include that last part of the Our Father prayer? Just asking.

Scary Hollywood men. At least Rod Stewart, you sort of see how these women are attractive. He's got a model thing -- shorties need not apply. Funny Harry Hamlin comes up because wasn't he at one time married to Lorenzo's Falcon Crest co-star. Scary that I know these things but once I know it, I don't forget it. Ugh. Like how I know Shayne's date went to Cal Poly. He said it, I heard it, and if I ever ran into him on the street, I'd be like, "Cal Poly, right? Passion for graphic design... and to seemingly lesser degree, fashion... blah blah blah blah blah."

Oh my lord I was thinking the same thing. I really hope they are playing up for the cameras. I couldn't live in that house for two seconds with all the fighting going on and what the hell is up with AJ. That dude has some serious issues going on and I guess it's with his father because he didn't even speak to his father when he came to pick up Shayne. Whatever it is he needs to get it straightened out with Lorenzo or seek professional help. Boy is outta control with his emotions.
That butterface Shane thinks she's way more adorable and endearing than she really is.
I wanted to reach into the TV and smack her. Screaming like a banshee about the floor and how she spent two hours to clean up the house. Maybe if she got off her ass and did a little bit each day, it would not take her two hours to clean up.
I don't think she's attractive at all. Even with all the makeup plastered on her face she is barely getting by in the looks department and after her date hit it, he won't be back. I feel he may think she is too young for him. I think Dakota is very attractive.
Lorenzo has really held up well - gotta give him that.
I have to disagree with that. Back in the day I thought the dude was fine and I know he's older but it looks like he's had work done on his face. He's not ugly by any means, but he don't look right to me. His forehead looks too wide or something.

Lorenzo looks
rough with that hair style and mustache. And all that tanning hasn't done him any favors.
The kids are kind of funny, in a weird way. After Shayne and Dakota threw grapes at A.J., he tore after them and said, "Look what you did to my shirt?" Shayne immediately replied, "I'll buy you a new one," and he dropped it. That seemed logical for that bunch of meatheads.

AJ looked terrible on As the World Turns, so I was shocked at how cute he is now. Around the same time Lorenzo was on B&B which was actually fairly successful. Linda Gray from Dallas played his mother in law and they gave him an entire family and everything. Most high profile actors on B&B only last a few months, but he lasted two years with big story. I feel like if he truly wanted to act another soap would've picked him up and he could've saved his career. I personally watched for AJ and Lorenzo. I especially loved him on Falcon Crest. I've never seen Renegade.
As far as this show goes, I can only expect so much from E!. Their reality shows generally have dull subjects and are edited in the most dull way possible. This show is really no different. It's a shame a better network for reality tv couldn't have gotten the Lamas family. Still, it's nice to see and I'll keep watching here and there. I wish they'd get into AJ sleeping with his father's wife. It's clear that he did and that he's to blame for these problems. Lorenzo seems the most likable to me. I loved the introduction about the cats. He seems a bit flighty and shows his age which I find cute.
